Under the hood, the Treo 650 features Palm OS 5.4, 32MB of RAM (23MB available for end user storage), and an Intel PXA270 312 MHz processor. The design retains the same popular form factor as the Treo 600 with a few subtle, yet significant, changes. The unit's screen has been dramatically enhanced to support 320 x 320 resolution and the full QWERTY keypad has been redesigned for greater ease of use. The top of the unit features an expansion card slot for SD and MMC-based memory and expansion cards. There's also an infrared port here for line of sight data transfers, as well as a handy switch for turning off the phone's ringer. A five-way navigator controls most of the phone's menus and operating system functions, while quick application buttons on either side of the navigator get you to your favorite applications in a snap. The left side of the unit features a volume up/down toggle plus a handy user-customizable button that can be assigned to any phone or PDA function. The rear of the Treo 650 houses a loudspeaker, as well as the VGA (640x480) camera unit. A touchscreen stylus can be tucked away on the right side of the phone. Meanwhile, a combined charging, data, and accessory attachment port is housed on the bottom of the unit, as is a standard 2.5 mm stereo headset jack.

Calling and PDA Features
All the of the Treo 650's phone and PDA functions are designed to provide an integrated, seamless experience. For instance, you can type in the name or initials of a contact on the keypad to dial them. Or, use the touchscreen and stylus to copy information from an email and quickly paste it into another email or text message. All of the latest phone features folks expect are built-in, too, like a handsfree speakerphone, polyphonic ringtones, a vibrate mode and picture caller ID. The capacity of the unit's address book is only limited by the amount of internal and expansion memory available. Use the Treo 650's Bluetooth capability to wirelessly sync your contacts with your PC or Mac (yes, Mac!). Headsets, car kits and other wireless peripherals can also be paired with the unit via Bluetooth.

The Treo 650 is also a fully functional Palm OS device. That means that a huge library of applications, from spreadsheets to word processors to games, can be added to the Treo 650. It's easy to perform multiple tasks like checking your calendar while talking on the phone or dialing calls directly from your contacts list. Familiar Palm OS software ships with the handset including calendar, calculator, clock, contacts, memo, and task management applications. Real Player for video and MP3 playback, VersaMail email client, and DataViz Documents to Go for mobile access to spreadsheets and text documents, are also included.

The unit's memory expansion slot allows you to transfer music, photos, and video from your desktop. Or, use it to load additional games and applications.

Messaging and Internet
The device fully supports SMS and MMS messaging for rapid exchange of pictures, text and video via Sprint's instant messaging system. Other Sprint PCS Vision services are also supported, such as mobile email, web browsing and instant messaging. Sprint's PCS Business Connection service, which is fully compatible with the Treo 650, gives you secure, remote, real-time access to Microsoft Outlook Exchange-- including email messages and attachments, calendar, business directory and personal contacts. You can also respond to meeting requests, access documents stored on your desktop PC, and view email from POP3 and IMAP4-based email accounts, including Sprint PCS Mail, Yahoo!, Earthlink and more.

Imaging and Entertainment
The Treo 650's built-in camera features a 2x zoom, a flash and a self portrait mirror. While the camera is great for taking stills, it can also function as a camcorder, allowing you to capture MPEG4 video to the unit's memory. The device ships with two games, Zap! 2016 and Handmark Solitaire, and many more Palm-based games are available. As mentioned, the device ships with Real Player, so you can use your Treo 650 as a portable MP3 and video player. Phone very unreliable
Phone has excellent features but has bad reception.Just after a month (right after the store exchange policy expired) the charger is not working.Some loose connection may be. I read somewhere else that others are having similar issues. It is frustating to have your cellphone breakdown because of the charger issue.How can I recommend this to anyone with this kind of issues ?

Looks Nice but Functions Poorly
I was really excited to buy a Treo 650.It was going to be my first foray into the world of smart devices, and the first time I dropped some serious cash for a phone.
What a mistake.

The Treo 650 looks great - everyone wants to play with it when they see it.The screen is bright and colorful (too bright to operate when driving at night), and you can SMS in a dark bar quite happily.

Unfortunately, you can't do much else.
Nobody can hear me.Whether I use the Treo like a normal phone, on speakerphone, or with a headset, it doesn't matter.I'm constantly screaming at people, repeating myself, and having people hang up on me because they just can't hear what I'm saying.I've upgraded the software, but it hasn't improved anything at all.
On top of that, the phone interface is really slow.I often find myself hitting dial, and seeing nothing happen.After 5 seconds, I'll hit dial again, and the end result is that it will register that second input as the default for the dial screen - hang up.Then I have to go through the dialing process again.It's so annoying.

I also got a 1 GB SD card, with the thought that I would use the Treo's mp3 player instead of my iPod on short trips around town.Well, now I only appreciate Apple more.Realplayer constantly skips reading from the SD card.And I won't go into the details, but even getting music onto the SD card to begin with was an arduous process; so is making a playlist.So much for that part of the plan.

Maybe if you intend to use a Treo as a PDA primarily, and don't really care about the phone part, it's a good buy.But if this is going to be your day to day phone, buy something else, like a phone.Palm just doesn't have the phone software up to a point where it's really functional, and for me at least, no amount of other toys or stylish looks makes up for that.

I was a early adopter..
And like some of the reviews it had it's issue's to begin with.The issue's were Roaming problems, People telling me that they couldn't understand what I was saying, the mail client not work, I guess thats about it.

Well, about 2+ months ago sprint emailed me and gave me the instructions to upgrade my phone.BIG improvement!!!The voice improvement was so great people asked me if I got a new phone!!Th e mail client now works without a hitch.And the roaming now works with no issue's whatsoever.

My only gripe now is that you still can't use the phone as a bluetooth modem, but I've gotten assurances that is coming.

I love this phone, it truely is a fully packed PDA that also works as a great phone.I recommend this phone 5+ Stars!!

Great device
This is one of the best investments I've made this year. I'm able to move freely from my home office without ever worrying about missing an call, email or instant/text message.

On another note, you need to beware of Sprint's equipment replacement plan. Lockline is absolutely the worst company I've dealt with. Two refurbished phones were sent to replace my lost Treo and both malfunctioned. Clueless customer service would not replace the phone a second time. Said it was "unlikely that two phones were bad".

NOT RELIABLE - DO NOT BUY!!!
I've had the Treo 650 for four days and I've missed over 50% of my incomming phone calls.Why?Because it reboots at random times all day.... it shuts off at random times all day... and it doesn't reboot with the phone enabled.

Excellent.

Add to that- The email linking is inconsistant - even with simple POP email accounts - The treo fails to connect over 50% of the time.What's the point???

So I did some research.I grabbed the 1.08 OS patch from PALM... too bad it didn't fix anything.

I'm returning the phone. It's the most expensive call blocker I've ever purchased.I've missed emergency phone calls becuase of it's flakey OS!!!

This thing may look good on paper, but it doesn't actually function in person.

Design
The phone features a sleek clamshell design with a large 128 x 128 color display with 65,000 colors. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 32 monochrome display that can display time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. A stub antenna is placed on the top right side of the unit. Up and down buttons for volume control are placed on the left side. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad. Meanwhile, the top right side of the unit houses an antenna and the USB-capable data port is housed on the unit's top edge. There's a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets on the bottom of the handset, next to the phone's charging port. Face plates are available so you can create the look you're after on the phone's outer casing.

Calling Features
The V180 supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. You can also assign pictures and ringers to your most common callers. A number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone and more ringtones can be downloaded from T-Mobile's t-zones service. There's even an included application, MotoMixer, that enables you to mix your own ringtones.

Speed dialing, which allows you to call pre-programmed numbers with one button is built in, as is a vibrating alert. My tracfone is better!
I had this phone.I malfunctioned occasionally. I really wasn't impressed with tmobile coverage area:(. I got a tracfone(v60i motorola) And it has worked out much better.Tracfones promos like the referral- authorized person sends you a referral before you activate a new tracfone and you get 100 minutes at no charge! it rocks. I have way better coverage with my tracfone.I am now authorized to give referrals so if you need one, just send a request to sunnyryanj@yahoo, the v60i is cdma and if you like GSM phones tracfone also has those and they work on both cingular/att and tmobile so you get the best gsm coverage there is! and theres free roaming!Tracfone is better. mmhm...

Great high quality phone
I've been with T-Mobile for about five years and have used Motorola v66, Samsung Q105, and several Nokia phones. Out of all of them this Motorola v180 actually lives up to the 10 days of standby time and the 5 hours of talk time. The quality of the call is the best I've heard yet with any phone. I have not had any problems with this phone but do see how a cheap plastic design could easily be damaged with minimal effort. Take care of things and they'll last - simple as that. My only complaint is that the phone does not come with a belt clip.

Intermittent malfunction, otherwise a good phone.
I had one of these phones from T-Mobile for a few months, and was pleased with it for the most part. The audio quality and signal strength were very good in my experience. Its battery life was very good. It just worked very well as a basic cellular phone, and served me well... except for the occasions when it malfunctioned for no apparent reason. Sometimes, when I would try to use the Phonebook or Voice Dial features, or to access my Recent Calls, the phone would just tell me to "Please Wait" forever. T-Mobile and Motorola tried to help me troubleshoot the problem to no avail. I had to send it in for repair. It appears to be a software problem, rather than a problem with the phone itself.

Pretty decent phone
I have had this phone for about six months now and have had no problems. It's small and has pretty decent features like an alarm clock which I constantly use. My reception is pretty great, and I have even used this phone in the elevator where I work with no problems. I like use my t-zones to check out stuff on yahoo like movies and news.
My only problems are, I am not able to download games which is a bummer,(i can play online games though through t-mobile), and once in a great while while i am text messaging, the phone screen has gone black. It recovers, but I hope that isn't going to be some big issue.

underwater conversations
I have this as a replacement for my Samsung e-105 which was a fantastic little phone that I never had a problem with, until my lack of care caused it to finally collapse.Phones (other than Nokia, IMO) only last about 14 months these days.
I have no complaints about the design - the LCD is not NEARLY as clear as the samsung, and it is cheap plastic, but it's free - what should I expect?
The problem is that every conversation - whether to a landline or another mobile - sounds like the other person is under water! They're garbled and hard to understand.I always have to ask people to repeat themselves.
Second problem - the battery.After an hour, even when not in use, it needs more juice.
I already called TMobile and ordered the next Samsung - their interface is considerably better.
(and any problems with TMobile might just be from the particular agent - i've never had a problem, and I've been with them for 6 years - since they were Voicestream!) ... Read more

Love this phone!
I have to say that I've had this phone for almost a year now and it's the best phone I've ever owned.I read many reviews before purchasing it stating that the battery life isn't good at all, but I did not find that true.I use my phone daily, several times a day and the battery holds a charge wonderfully.I have not been happy with the cell phones I've had in the past (and that has been MANY).I loved this phone so much that my husband bought one as well.I wasn't in the market for a camara phone, but this feature proved itself nicely.Good quality pictures.

WTF Samsung !
This is by far the worst phone I've ever owned. I had the Nokia 3650 and I wanted a smaller phone. This phone hasvirtually no features that my old phone had. I just bought this phone solely on aesthetics and because it had a camera. It doesnt look bad but thats about the only thing it has going for it. The picture quality is awful to say the least and I have to recharge it every 2 days(keep in mind I only talk about 10 mins a day because I hate talking on the phone). Not only that but my sometimes it tweeks and just turns off by itself and deletes numbers from my phone book. Please steer clear from this phone...

The best phone ever!
The samsung E715 phone is the best. This phone works great. Takes great pics and battery life last for ever. This great lil phone can take a beating and yet it still works. No problem with this phone.

the worst phone from samsung...crap....
this crappy Samsung E715.. is the worst i have ever seeen. i've owned it for a year and it started to have the same display problem ( like many other customers of the e715).... and after exchanging the phone with t-mobile, the display is fine but the phone started to give queer ringtone sounds. the ringtone is singing very very fast and its such a pain to hear your phone ring!!!!! my first phone had problem with the phone book also!! it would delete the phone book entries stored to the phone overnight. initially i thought it was coz of over charging, but it was going on every couple of weeks and i had to call t-mobile to replace my phone. the picture quality is dreadfully poor... no individual ringtone can be given to each number but has a group ringtone option ( which is sick to have... no individual option but a group option... "r u using ur brains SAMSUNG engineers....").. no option of saving the pictures to the simcard...( it was painful to lose all my 100 odd pics when i had to return my phone for exchange and i lost interest in taking pics anymore after i got the exchange phone). i called t-mobile to make my 2nd exchange. my friend also had the same problems as i had and i would strongly recommend t-mobile to discontinue issuing this model any more and pray god to give the Samsung engineers useful brains to think better and make better phones!!!!!!

Not A Bad Little Phone
I've had the E715 for about 8 months and it's been a fine phone. I made the switch from the Motorola V300 when I had calls that were getting dropped (turns out it's T-Mobile, not the phone, as I've had the same problems with this phone).

I wish I had kept the V300.

The Good:
* It's a cute phone. Very attractive.
* It lights up when on silent, which is a plus.
* The camera isn't bad - better than most camera phones (non mega-pixel phones anyway).
* The disk space is excellent. You can have many photos stored on the phone at once.

The Bad:
* The battery life is terrible. I have to charge this phone every night. I used to charge my V300 twice a week.
* The ringtones are TERRIBLE. As you know, you can't download a "normal" ringtone from T-Mobile. ALL of the ringtones that come with the phone are dreadful, and borderline ridiculous. There is no simple ringtone located on the phone.
* There is a button on the side of the phone that activates the camera with the flip phone closed...this means if it hits something in my bag, it ends up taking a bunch of black photographs (and making that obnoxious shutter noise sound, even on silent). This happens all the time.
* No speakerphone.
* The headset needs to be moved around to work, or you won't hear a thing. Not handy while driving.

Overall, it's a good phone. However, my next phone will be a Motorola, as this phone lacks too many basic features. ... Read more

Expensive, though very capable phone.
First off, the screen is downright gorgeous.I picked up this phone about 4 days ago after I jumped ship with T-Mobile, and decided to give Cingular a try.All my friends and family members use Cingular so a two-year contract doesn't really bother me.I payed $300 and will recieve a $100 via mail-in rebate.The price was on point considering my old phone, a Motorola V300, cost me $250 and didn't have half the features of this phone.

This phone is not perfect though.Off the bat I noticed that the UI was unresponsive at times.It's pretty annoying but it's acceptable.Another gripe I have is with Sony about it's proprietary storage medium.I have a PSP and recently purchased a 512 MB Memory Stick PRO Duo.I thought, because they are the same form factor, that I could interchange the PRO Duo with the Duo used in the S710a but no.I'm relagated to 128 MB maximum storage capacity so the mp3 functionality of the phone, for me, has been reduced.All the other features: Bluetooth, camera, etc all work fine but don't expect to purchase a case that will protect your investment.Because of it's unique swivel design, the only cases available for the phone are enclosed cases.If I have a phone that's better than all of my friends, I want to show it off, not hide it in a case!!

As far as the service with Cingular, it's been decent.My signal is a lot greater that it ever was with T-mobile and the girl that helped me set up my account was hot!!Props to Cingular for hiring such fine girls.

If you want a stylish phone that will turn even the heads of Sprint employees, then buy this phone.If you want an everyday run of the mill phone go spend your money elsewhere.

Good phone but..
You all know about the slowness of the menus.. this plagued my old sony ericsson t300 too.. its a good phone, full of features, very nice screen (thou a bit darker than i expected) however whats up with that hold button/slide?? I have never seen that in another phone and i think its a stupid stupid design.. more often than not my thumb just slides over it, its not grippy enough.. and the games are all demos?? wow so cheap of you sony..

UPDATE: The hold is released either by the hold slide/button or pressing *, unlock.. so its not that bad :)

Not all that
This phone looks great, menus are easy to use, and its got a wonderful display.That aside, the performance of the phone is not what it should be for the price.Others have noted sluggish menus.This is the second s710a I've owned, the first sent back for technical reasons, and the menu speed is horrible.The phone will lock up for up to 20 seconds, and then finally release...performing the 3 or 4 functions you pressed while it was frozen.Its unresponsive for a $400 phone.Secondly, sound quality on the phone is fine if you get the microphone in just the right spot, but if you try to cradle the phone in your shoulder and talk, no one will be able to hear you.Overall, the phone is a huge disappointment...from sound quality to responsiveness, they should have done better for the price.

Dream phone since I got it for $40
This is my dream phone.I love the gigantic screen, the swivel and Bluetooth.I've had it for a month now, and I still can't believe how cool the video recorder is.It takes really good pictures and the speakerphone and mp3 player sound great.Plus, I was surprised it came with a USB memory stick reader and it wasn't an additional accessory I had to purchase.The only problems are that it's a bit bulky and the price of course is EXCESSIVE.If I wasn't able to get it for $40, I wouldn't have been able to get this great phone.If you want to find out how you can get it for $40 as well(...)

Best Phone Ever

great phone !
I have had this phone sence Christmas and it is great! I have had no problems with this phone and i have droped it like 100 times and it still works great. It does not have very good wallpapers but the ringtones are ok. The battery life it sooo good it is better then any other phones i have seen. It would be the best phone if it had a camera. If you want a good phone for a very low price then you should get this phone.

Good basic phone
If you want a basic phone with good reception and battery life, and are not interested in cameras or MP3 capabilities (and other features), this phone could be a good choice for you.

The one "feature" this model does have is the speakerphone, which works very well IMO.And with amazon.com's rebate and 1-year (instead of 2-year) contract, it's a very good deal indeed.

The only drawback is that the rebate takes about 4 months to receive (you have to wait two billing cycles, then amazon takes about 8 weeks on top of that to process it).If you're patient though, it's hard to find a better deal than this.

But if you want a phone that will "impress your friends" you may have to look elsewhere.This is a very basic piece.

Does Cell Phone Well
I upgraded from an AT&T Nokia (2years old) to the Verizon Nokia 6015i. The difference is amazing. I'm not sure whether it is Verizon or the 6015i or both, but service is clear in places I had no service before - including in my apartment house. On a car trip to very southern Maryland I had excellent service in some very rural areas. No static or breaking up or dropped calls. Works well in the METRO tunnels

My choice was somewhat driven by the fact I already had Nokia wall warts in four homes spread across the country and cigarette chargers in four cars, also spread across the county - using those on the new phone saved a pocket full of money - BUT, I am happy with the quality of the phone when it is doing phone things!!

Great phone for the price.
This 6015 replaces my earlier Nokia phone.It seems to me that Nokia has got this entry level phone niche locked for me. This phone does everything I want it to do very well.Personally, I just need a wireless phone to make calls andorganize contacts logically without slowing me down.

The Good:
-Easy to use right out the box.I have never had to readthe instruction manual on this phone. Thoughful design...
-Decent talk time for the size of the battery
-Tasteful color screen
-Intuitive menus. Each contact can have mulitple numbers assigned in a good directory/tree menu. One touch dialing is very handy for commonly called numbers.


The Bad:
-Sometimes I talk too much on this phone.

Bottom line:You really cannot get a better phone with this set of features for the price.

This is a good phone with all the basic features. However, it does not have any WAP browser. Also, Verizon & Nokia lock the Nokia PC Suites that you cannot upload ringtones using DKU-5 cable. YES IT TURNS OFF--BUT HERE'S HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM!
The phone turns off because the battery connections become slightly coated after a few months. YOU CAN FIX THIS IN 5 MINUTES! HERE'S HOW:

1) Remove the battery
2) Observe the 3 small metallic contacts on the battery, and 3 corresponding metallic pins in the phone.
3) Using very fine-grain sandpaper, VERY GENTLY sand the 3 metallic points both on the phone and on the battery. DO NOT PRESS HARD!
4) Put battery back in.

VOILA!THAT WILL FIX YOUR PROBLEM!

Adequet enough for me
This is my first Cell Phone. I like it a lot. About them randomly turning off, mine never does that. I think that happens only because of the service area. The web brouser and the speaker Phone are great and easy to use. i like the alarm clock and the second display. I could care less if it is slow or basic. Another great about it is its looke, color, and shape

Don't judge a phone by it's cover
I wasn't looking for anything special when my boyfriend and I starting shopping for cell phones. So several months back, we went in search of a normal, easy-to-use cell phone at a good price.We found this one.We bought it because we liked the look and simplicity of the phone.It has great features and is very compact.However, a couple of months after we purchased the phone, it began turning itself off.Not just mine, but his also.In the middle of phone calls, setting it down, touching it - at one point, it had turned off for me 4 times in less than 10 minutes - while on the phone with my boss.That was where I drew the line.I took it back to T-mobile and they told me all they could do was send my boyfriend and I new phones - the same ones.I thought, fine, whatever, I'll take anything I can get at this point.

Within a week, we received our new phones, re-programed them, and tried again.Once again, within 2 months, the same problem rose up in both of our phones - turning off.It is ridiculous.In fact, I use this phone as an alarm every morning, and even this morning I woke up late because, lo and behold, it was off.I do not recommend this phone to anyone.I may look nice, but after reading other people similiar accounts and going through 4 phones myself with the same problem, all I can say is get something else.

Good and Bad
Positives: Bluetooth, IR port, VGA Camera, multiple e-mail accounts, speaker phone, more programs becoming available for Symbian O/S. I use Bluetooth for wireless headset and to make the phone serve as my wireless modem.
Negatives: phone too big; voice recognition worthless, low volume from ear piece, IR port weak so TV remote control programs don't work well, slow menu's and response. Get Opera browser if your phone does not come with it since the WAP browser will only frustrate you (Opera has problems on this phone, but works most of the time). T-Mobile programmed the backlight in the display to turn off after a few seconds, although Nokia made it adjustable, and T-Mobile won't fix it.

Big in features and Size!
The phone is loaded with features, some of which you will be using the most and some,maybe never. The design has a good design with a big display adn keys are easily accessible. Lemme go to the pros and cons of this phone since that;s what matters the most.
PROs:
1) Display size
2) Easily accessible keys
3) Camera resolution is pretty good.
4) Battery consumption is pretty low compared to old phones.

Cons:
1) The software is pretty slow.
2) There might be bright spots/lines on the LCD on some phones which appear only after some usage..i had two replacements!
3) BULKY!
4) Features which u are not going to use for all the life of the phone.


Summing up,i feel Nokia or other vendors should provide an option in the software which features we'd like to see when we press the menu button. This makes the s/w faster and user-friendly.
Overall the phone is pretty good.

Excellent phone
Although this is my first mobile phone, this is an Excellent phone that has almost all features that anybody can expect in normal mobile phone. I am really impressed with the Quality of this phone.

Nice phone with great features
I got this with the need for a nokia GSM camera-phone with speakerphone. 3660 had similar features, but that is big in size. 6600 looks and feels nice.
This one is full of features(has bluetooth). Especially the LCD is big and the camera quality is among the very best around. I have set up it's PDA features with avantgo.com where you can download info from sites like weather,mapquest maps/directions into it, which is great. Using supplied s/w, you can transfer all addresses from a different nokia phone into it.
Goes ~3 days after a charge.

Great reception but need improvement on certain things
I do not need to repeat what's great about this phone.

A few things that I want to suggest for improvements:
1) phone card calling feature.This phone doesn't include Phone card calling.So you have to dial your phone card access number, PIN card, and choose "send touch tone" and find your contact from the address book.This process can be very annoying and unsafe when you are driving a stick shift on the highway.For phone card with PIN Free dialing setup, you are a little bit lucky.All you need to do is to choose your "phone card" contact and then "send touch tone" and choose the contact.This feature is very important to me as I make a lot of international calls.My old Sony Ericsson T610 has this feature.All I need to do is to choose the contact and in option select "calling card call".

2) Low volume on regular answering.In noisy environment, it's hard to hear from the earpiece.You have to use speaker or handsfree, to get larger volume.Speaker volume is loud and clear but it sacrifaces the battery life. ... Read more

Be sure to get Equipment Protection
I recently purchased this phone and everything was working fine.The phone was then accidentally dropped from less than one foot and the screen has gone black through the middle.If you do purchase this phone, be sure to buy the extra equipment protection with it as the screen cannot handle any pressure other than from the stylus or fingernail.Good luck.

A REALLY EXPENSIVE LEMON
i am using this phone in India - not on Verizon - but could not find anywhere else to review this, and I feel so strongly about this that i had to write a review.

I was earlier using the Palm IIIC, and was very happy with it.Hence, when the Treo 600 came out, I was very keen to buy this.I believe than the Palm OS is the best Handheld OS and did a lot of research before making by decision.Reading the great reviews that the phone got convinced me and I bought it.Since then I have had major problems with the phone.

Phone:

One day, the ear piece just stopped working.When I make a call, the called person can hear me, but I cannot hear them.When I switch to speaker phone or hands free, then I can here them.

I checked with someone else who also bought the phone, and he is having the same problem.

I wrote to Palm Support, who wrote back to me asking me to do a hard reset on it - which I did but it did not correct the problem.

I wrote to you again, and was told to send the phone to USA, as there was no service center here.

I found someone who could repair it here - so got that done.Subsequently, the phone started acting up again.When the battery goes below half, there is some disturbance that starts coming on the phone, more on the other side, but also on mine.Also, the call gets disconnected often while on a call.The phone hangs often, while answering a call, switching from one call to another, and even when disconnecting a call.The screen freezes, and there is nothing I can do, except a soft reset, which I need to do more than 10 times everyday.Sometimes, the phone goes off on its own while on a call and restarts.I have tried multiple hard resets, and everything I can think of.

By this time, the phone was available in India, so I called their National Distributor, but was told that since I had not bought the phone from them, they could not repair it, even if I was willing to pay for the repair.That did not make any sense to me - after all it is their product.Anyway, they gave me the no of a firm who could repair the phone, so I contacted them.

When I started explaining the problem to them, they knew exactly what I was talking about - because according to them, there was a problem in the communication card, which was across the board.They told me that they could change the card and it would cost over $100.I went ahead and got it repaired - and for some time it worked fine, but after 3-4 months, it has started giving me the same problem again.

Now I really don't know what to do, as to keep spending money on a product with inherent manufacturing defects does not make sense.

I think this is a great product, in terms of design, software etc - but obviously only if it works.I believe I have bought a lemon, just did not expect a company like Palm to first make a product that doesn't work, and then not take responsibility and replace the defective part/parts when they are aware of the problem.

More bang for your buck....
I looked long and hard before deciding to purchase the Treo 600.Keep in mind that when I bought the Treo 600 from Amazon it was only $150 after rebate, rather than $299.Anyhow, I definitely compared it to the 650 and decided that for the price it simply wasn't worth the extra money for a 650.Here's why:
Advantages of the 650 over the 600 (and in parentheses why it's not worth it):
-Replaceable battery (Read the manual: top your battery off often and replacing your battery won't be an issue)

-Bluetooth (great for wireless headsets and a few other things, but is it worth the extra $250 (with a new service plan!)to synchronize my contact list a few seconds faster and not have to plug it in? I think not!)

-Larger display (many people complain about the 600's "small" display, but keep it in perspective- it's a tiny cellphone screen!Will you really be watching full length movies on your treo very frequently? Be honest! Will you be using high-powered software to edit images? I think not.Many people who complain about this are simply used to a higher res screen.)

-Processor (Yes, the processor speed has tripled, however, consider if this is really necessary to, for example, play MP3s? or write memos? or respond to email? or to browse the web?It's really not a necessary upgrade unless you are a true power user.)

-Other minor upgrades.(There are certain fixes,etc to consider, but most are minor and many annoyances on the 600 can be fixed with software off the net.

In my personal opinion, get the 650 if you are already stuck on 320 x 320 screen resolution or are a bluetooth fanatic.Otherwise save your pennies and get the 600 which will deliver the most bang for your buck performance-wise.
Perhaps the 650 users need to justify their splurge and that is why they get so defensive of it... I want to be a voice for the budget-minded consumer - because not everyone relishes the idea of spending $400 for a phone!

Get The Newer Treo 650 Instead
This is a friendly warning from a fellow consumer.

The Treo 650 became available for Verizon Wireless as of late May 2005.Even if Amazon doesn't have it, you can still order it via PalmOne or via Verizon Wireless.

The Treo 650 is far superior to the Tre 600 in so many ways that there is absolutely no reason to buy the old Treo 600 anymore.Please, consider the Treo 650 before going any further.

Problems with audio cripple this product
Neither Verizon nor PalmOne provide any credible support for the features that are supposed to make this phone so useful. The audio output of the device is unstable.After performing several hard resets per Verizon's instructions and performing the painful task of reloading my address book, the audio jack works for a short period of time and then crashes again. Verizon provided a free rebate for Normsoft's Ptunes program and implicitly recommended this application, but ultimately, they deny any responsibility for the correct functioning of this application, and blame Normsoft.Here's Normsoft's reply from their technical support. "The issue with the output jack sounds more like a hardware issue. There is nothing Pocket Tunes does that controls the output jack." Difficult beginning
Amazon is one of the most trustable internet shop and Verizon is one of the most trustable vireless service provider. That is why I choose this. However, the beginning is really painful to me. It wasted me more than two hours to make more than 3 pnone calls to Verizon and 2 phone calls to Amazon to make my phone work. Maybe there are some problems for the communication between them. I do not know. But I just want the phone I bought work. It seems not easy. Therefore, if you would like to choose this a little complex method, prepare to pay your time. In fact,

the lil' phone that could!
Okay ----- so there are no bells and whistles on this phone - no camera, little data options, etc

However, it does what cell phone should do, which is ----- it has terrifc voice quality, both on the receiving end and on the outbound side

I am also very impressed with the phone's durability - it is made of plastic, but it would be very very very hard to damage this phone

and lastly, it does have a jack for headsets, and the headsets all seem to work excellently off of this phone

Great Camera! but has flaws
I really like this phone a lot despite the few problems it has.

First the Pros'
-Amazing Camera (better than i have seen out there, and every1 envies my phone for that)
-Love the large screen (amazing resolution)
-I enjoy the full size of the phone (some hate it, but i dont like small phones. they feel like a toy to me)
-Very light for its size
-Like the solid click it makes when flipped open or closed
-Like the set up for text messaging. (u can assign voice ringers for texts, my old samsung couldnt do that)
-Can customize pictures as caller id when ppl call
-Assign ringtones to people when they call
-Assign picture as wallpaper on outter LCD
-Even though no blutooth, the earpiece is very loud and has good clarity

Cons'
-Barely hear the ring volume
-Battery life is short, which is dealable due to a car charger
-I dropped it once maybe 4 feet, and the phone wouldnt power back on. (not as durable as motorollas) but t-mobile switched it out w/me
-No bluetooth (i really dont care for it newaz)
-sometimes the outter LCD contrast goes bright by itself and i have to open and close it to make it go normal
-The SD card amazon sent me dosnt work. it came DAO
-No alarm to remind things set on the calander
-Can't customize faceplate, so if u scratch it bad, u have to live with it until u get a new phone
-No speaker
-The belt clip dosnt come w/package, and its not very reliable while trying to hold ur phone. (sometimes phone falls out)

Keep in mind that all phones have their flaws, i just really wish that the ringer was louder, my SD worked, and there was speaker phone. Otherwise all the other problems might just be my phone, and not necissarily every sharpTM150. But i love how much i can customize my phone to my liking. The backlight is green for the buttons, but i really dont care, it could be purple for all its worth. I like the phone a lot. More than my Samsung, and my brothers motorolla. (His v220 feels like a toy compared to this phone)
As for the service, T-mobile is horrible in my house, and it has been like that for the past 2 years. I think this phone has given me the least amount of dropped calls though. But they have pretty good customer support. Its 24/7, more than other cellular companies.

Sharp TM150 (T-Mobile) is a decent CAMERA PHONE...
As mentioned in the title, it is a great camera phone.Its notable features are its mega-pixel camera and accompanying screen.However, there are issues with it that has been well documented in many sites.But first, I will describe my history with it and you can decide what to think.

I switched providers from Sprint PCS to T-Mobile because I will be travelling to many places within and outside the United States.Travel in the U.S., I would give Sprint coverage the edge over T-Mobile (my wife has T-mobile), and I was able to compare signal strength and areas of coverage, etc.However, once I left the border (except for some places in Canada), I had no coverage with Sprint.We had to rely on my wife's phone when we went to Italy for our honeymoon.Because we are going to Jamaica, Amsterdam, and London this summer, we needed a reliable phone and service provider.

UPDATE:The coverage in Jamaica was excellent!The phone instantly recognized the two providers, and I was given a choice between the two (CWJ and Digicel). FYI, if you can get at least a tri-mode phone, which is what the TM150 is, it will allow you to use CWJ, which works on the 1900 MHz frequency, and with internet/data access.Digicel only works on the 900/1800 MHz, and does not allow for t-zone access.I will be traveling to Amsterdam in a week, so hopefully I get the same coverage and luck (or better).

I've had this phone for almost two weeks, so I can make comparisons and preliminary reviews.

Pros:
- Great Camera!I was the envy of camera phone owners.There are others who had problems with the blurred or ghost pictures, but I've had no problems in daylight/bright light.Night shots are a bit difficult to obtain, but I just switch over to night-shot mode, and most of the problems are remedied.
- Great internal screen!Very big, with the look of a high-res monitor (a comparison that can be equivalent to looking at an Xbrite monitor on my Sony VAIO, compared to my Compaq notebook).This, coupled with the megapixel camera, made for great pictures and great times viewing the pictures among friends.
- Average Signal Strength, so far.I'm in San Francisco, and it gets the same coverage as my old Sprint phone (Samsung)
- Hi-Res downloadable ringtones
- Relatively easy switch of carrier from Sprint to T-Mobile (relatively speaking, of course)

Cons:
- Low ringer volume.This is also well-documented by many consumers. There really is no way to get around it, as far as I was able to manage it.
- A big body. This is a significantly large phone.If you are used to the smaller phones like Motorola V180, this phone will feel like a brick.Personally, even though I do not like bulky phones, I eventually grew to like the feel of the phone.
-The battery life is not the greatest.But, it might be due to the fact that I have been using the camera a lot, so it's been sucking up a lot of battery juice.I did find that I can go for 2 full days of using both the phone and the camera function (quite extensively) before I ran out of battery, which is not bad at all.

If you like a camera phone, with an exceptional camera, the Sharp TM150 is the way to go.There are other megapixel cameras out there, which I have yet to try out.However, I am quite happy with this phone.

GPS & $29.99 contract/Weak Battery, Expensive Software
I have had the Sharp T-Mobile 150 for a month. The phone's screen is brilliant and reception in major urban areas indoors and in one's home is good. But the volume cannot be increased enough to hear whomever you called while walking on a busy street with trucks, taxi cabs, etc. Guess I need to use the earphones or get a hearing aid! I love the $29.99 for 300 minutes one-year contract (2-year contract not required), the rebate, the size and low weight of the TM-150. However, I tested the battery. The 750mah battery has an actual stand-by time of about 22 hours, and talk time of less than two hours. Sharp should have made a stronger battery for this phone, in my opinion. If you can talk for two or three hours on the go to one person, get a different phone. I have had to buy two extra batteries, and have to make sure they are fully charged when I go for a walk, out in the city to take urban photographs, etc. Additionally, the software and cable which allow you to manage"My Contacts" and other features costs $51.95 plus S/H on T-Mobile.com. If the battery were better, I would rate the phone at 5 stars.

Great display and I/O features
Pros: This phone has a great display - it is large and high-color. It takes great pics (858x1144) - although it's not going to replace a "real" camera, it blows away other phone cameras I've seen. Connectivity via the memory card makes copying images and ringtones very easy; I assume using a USB cable (not supplied) works equally well.* It can be configured to show a calendar on the screen (although some people will find the font impossible to read). All ports have rubber plug-thingies to prevent dirt, etc. from plugging holes. The navigation pad is nice. Sound quality is good. Analog clock on outer display is handy. Several messaging options. Web navigation actually worked.

Cons: The metallic blue-green color isn't my cup of tea. The silver buttons seem a bit cheapo-flashy to me. The menu organization is a bit strange; for example I haven't figured out how to *easily* change the ring volume (you've got to click through several menus to "Personalize" the current profile. Also too many default options launch you into T-Zones (for example: Why should the default location for browsing pictures be the T-Zones based "My Album" rather than the phone memory? Why is the default action after taking a picture to email it, rather than save it? Answer: becasue they want to make money from T-Zones) .
Also, as many have pointed out: no alarm reminders tied directly to appointments, although it does give you 5 configurable alarms.
Still, for the price I think this is an excellent buy. Highly recommended.

* Get the free apps Audacity (open-source from SourceForge) and WSCMA2 (from Yamaha) and you can convert MP3 files (and others) to the MMF format to make your own ringtones.

I've had the Nokia 6620 since Sep04.I purchased it as a bridge between a PDA and cell phone.I tried the Palm Treo 600 and was not impressed.The Nokia 6620 is adequate as a PIM, but still does not work as well as a stand-alone PDA.During the first few months, it would periodically lock up and the only way to re-boot would be to remove the battery.The problem resolved as mysteriously as it began, with no action on my part.The phone is feature rich and the camera was an unexpected bonus.I originally did not think I would use the camera, but have found over time it has been quite handy!I also discoved a glitch in the Nokia PC Suite software.When I sync'd from Outlook XP, the phone would not allow me to then save any phone numbers to the SIM card.The only time I could save a phone number to the SIM was when I manually entered the contact information into the phone.I also discovered that there was no way to save text messages to the MMC, or export them to my PC.This was a problem when I thought I was going to have to exchange the phone, and did not want to lose text messages.I have also been disappointed with the design of the ear piece connection.It is difficult/awkward to connect, and seems to be easy to disconnect.I think the 2.5mm connector is far better.The other connector is obviously necessary for the ability to sync with a PC.I have been able to send and receive text messages and photos; however, I have not been able to figure out how to IM.The E-wallet feature is interesting, but I haven't found an opportunity to test it.The battery life seems decent, but it depends how many applications you are running and what kind of signal strength you have.Operating in a weak signal environment will run the battery down faster.Overall, talk time is acceptable.The MMode Internet access is abbreviated but can be handy.I have not yet tested it as a wireless modem and cannot offer any comments.

The phone is great but the customer service sucks ! Try getting a biiling issue or technical issue resolved with AT&T/Cingular..

after you have signed a contract, they treat you like dirt..
If you change your plan, rest assured -- your billing will get messed up..after that you need to spend hours on the phone trying to resolve it with customer service..

I was Sprint before and their service was so much better !

Design
The P777's sliding design hides the phone's number pad under the display until you need to make a call. The large, 176 x 220 display supports up to 262,000 colors, plenty of resolution and color depth for your videos and photos. A five-way center control button is positioned below the display, as are shortcut and selection keys. The phone's 1.3 megapixel (1280 x 960) camera and LED flash are housed on the rear of the phone. The P777's phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts with multiple entries per contact. A call list remembers your most recent missed, received and dialed calls. The P777 has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging. Support is built in for sending and receiving text, video, graphics and sound via messages. Big Disappointment.
I bought this phone cause I was eligible for an upgrade with cingular. I like to have the latest technology so this phone was going to replace my Sony Ericsson T616 which I loved.I had Nokia (great phones) and Motorolla before (dont care for them really) so I decided to give Samsung a try since I've heard pretty good things about them and the reviews were favorable.
For the price (without commitment) this phone is unaceptable in my book when you can have the Sony s710a for $100 more and it does all the stuff that you would EXPECT a $400 phone to do.

Pros: Great 1.3 MP camera with zoom, flash and other modes.
Good MP3 player, sounds pretty good with the headset that comes with the phone (dont imagine IPOD quality or anything though)
Amazing resolution and color screen

Cons:No triband although advertised as that
No Speakerphone although advertised as that (you can play the MP3s and listen to them through a speakerphone but you cant use it for a call, how DUMB is that?)
No bluetooth?!?
No sync with outlook even though it says so (even my T616 does that).
Cannot assign MP3 you store on the phone as ringtones...PLEASE!
Picture viewing, deleting, etc extremely slow.
No radio.
Battery lasts for a day.

Thankfully I had 30 days to return the phone back to cingular which I did after I tried to like it for 3 days, but I couldn't. Some of the cons are unacceptable for a smart phone like this one and especially at this price.I thought about buying the Sony s710a but I think I am going to wait for the w800.As for now I am back using my beloved T616.

OVERRATED, missing simple features

Full user opinion
This phone is overrated. I was really excited to receive it 2 days ago and now I plan to return it and switch to Verizon. I favor flip phones over the slider, for the simple reason that the screen is protected. Furthermore, when this phone is closed, the screen is blank! You have to slide it open or hold down a button just to see if you have a missed call or see the time/date. Call quality is poor, not nearly as good as when I had T-Mobile with an old T720. Battery life is awful, barely stays charged for more than a day with moderate use. I expected much more than I got with this phone, and am glad I can still return it with no fee.

I've had my p777 for a week now...I bought it to replace my x426, and there are just so many new features on this phone that my old Samsung didn't have. So I'm slowly adapting to it.

The one thing that irks me that I probably won't get over is that there is no special "light sequence" or visible light display that alerts you when you have a new message. The sharp red blinking light from my x426 that told me I had a message was something I started to rely on, so now I find myself constantly sliding my phone up to check new messages.

I consider myself fairly computer literate. But it took me a while to get the hang of the EasyStudio File Manager. I finally figured it out, but I also got messages saying the software might not be completely compatible with XP, so I'm not sure if I'll run into problems later.

I was able to store about 20 mp3s on here, that is, including the memory used for pictures, audio, and video. Decent for a phone, but not if you're counting on it being your main music player. I still haven't figured out or found information on how to download mp3s from the wireless web on the phone, or if it's even possible... through my understanding i thought it was..???Anyone ?

Other than those [small] issues, it's a nice phone with tons of features to keep you busy. just make sure they're the right features for Y O U.

Full House with poor basics & NO SPEAKER! Urgh
I have used Samsung phones throughout 90s. Then, Nokia phones twice, then Samsung polyphonic phones twice.

This is my first review on the first day of Cingular network using P777. And I got mine at wirefly.com at $249 (with 181 day rebate credit of $125+$125)

I am quite disappointed that the lengthy manual did not help much after I figured all the menu functions just playing with the navigator key for the first 30 min. So, the interface is good.

Now, it has been 3 hours struggling to make my P777 detected with PC. It simply would not get hooked up with my HP notebook with XP Home OS (bought in 2005) - with a warning, saying, 'not compatible.' This is the first problem.

So, I am raising this question to other users: does anybody know how to fix this issue: USB Port- unknown device? I repeatedly installed file manager but my only guess is that the driver is not included or cannot be installed. And, I cannot test IR connectivity, either.

Secondly, Samsung website does not support P777 at all. It is noteven listed in samsungusa.com. Instead, type samsungtelecom.com to find other mobile products. But still I cannot find any useful info. or support from the company websites for this model, P777.

Thirdly, wirefly.com, cingular.com, Cnet.com all said it comes with a speaker, but, IT DOES NOT!!! For the worse,the call volume with other Cingular users were not impressiveeither. And, I live in a city with no high-rises.

So, my verdict based on my first impression is that it is "full house" with no basic function perfected. No manufactur's Support, Installation problems, NO Speaker, poor call sound volume... Video/Pic qualityis still that of a poor webcam. I seriously start to ask myself, do I really need this gadget being troubled this much already?

Before you buy this phone, make sure all these problems I have experieced in the first several hours are fixedor wait for a updated version.

I might return mine pretty soon if I cannot have it recognized with my laptop. Or, I will update my review if I resolve all these issues.

A Lot of Punch in a Little Package
If you are looking for a new device on the forefront of multimedia capibilities, then this phone should definately be put under consideration.

The screen, while certainly not as big as the likes of the Sony-Ericsson S710a, is large enough, and the 262k colors displayed really show off the imaging capabilities of this phone.The camera is a 1.3 megapixel, and while there seems to be a slight bit of unexpected grain in the photos, the overall quality is superb.The camcorder really shines--the image quality is great and the sound is top-notch--the best I've ever heard on a videophone.

The MP3 player sounds pretty good; you're not going to pitch your iPod, but the quality is nice for someone who wants to consolidate devices.The provided headphones are a bit of a pain though, hopefully Samsung will come out with a more comfortable version of them.I really had no problem using the Easy Studio File Transfer Software--it's pretty easy to use.Wireless internet downloads are fairly fast using the GPRS network--I can only imagine what it's like with EDGE.

The device has a pretty robust 100 MB of internal memory--plenty for songs, pictures, and video.While some the option for some addition removaable memory like a Memory Duo or FlashCard would've been nice, the average user probably wouldn't need it.

The phone itself has great sound quality--I can hear those on the other end of the line loud and clear and vice versa.Any problems with the service would most likely be that of the network and not with the device.

Probably my own real nitpick with the phone is the size.It's a pretty small thing--not exactly like, say, a candy bar style phone, but it's pretty petite.The numeric buttons are tiny and crammed together.If you have big hands, it's something to think about.

Other than that little problem, I really recommend this phone.If you're looking for a phone crammed with multimedia capabilities and you have a little money to spend--consider this device.

Great PDA - Phone sound issues
I recently migrated to this phone from a Treo 600 that had a mountain biking accident :-)

The SX66 (HTC is the ODM, "Blue Angel" is the model) is better than the Treo 600 in the following respects:
* More stable - No hung phones/frozen unit in 3 weeks of operation
* Better sound quality for other party - had lots of complaints regarding Treo 600
* WiFi - can't say enough about how handy this is
* Synchronization with Outlook actually works better than Palm Desktop/Hotsync.
* I can sync remotely with ActiveSync - this is also very handy
* Screen quality is better (roughly on par with Treo 650).No backlighting/sunlight visibility problems, either
* Speakerphone is louder and clearer than Treo.I actually use speakerphone mode a lot just to hear other party in noisy environments.
* Keyboard is more intuitive - keys are better placed.Also a slight negative - keyboard must be slid out for use and back when not in use (it's clunky to leave it out).
* Mic imparts less road noise in a car.When using my Treo in a car the other party complained bitterly and often hung up.No such problem with the SX66.


Negatives
* Sound volume is just too low - very hard to hear anyone in a car unless in speakerphone mode
* I haven't tried Bluetooth yet due to all the complaints I've read about.However, my phone did have the latest Bluetooth stack from Siemens (v1.1 Bluetooth), and I'll keep track of interfering signals such as 2.5GHz phones and 802.11b/g.
* Selecting phone number to call out is "clicky" - takes extra steps compared to Treo unless you leave the keyboard in the "deployed" position.The Microsoft Voice Dialing software ($39 or so) eliminates this hassle, but only works with wired headsets or direct speaking.Still, a big improvement over the extra clicking.
* GPRS and WiFi don't always come up in the order I would like, and switching between them is a little bit clicky (lots of steps).You can configure the phone to get around this, but that takes a fair bit of Windows Mobile expertise or RTFM.

Conclusion:
If sound quality/volume were better, this would be an outstanding phone.4-band lets me use it anywhere (I'll unlock this before trips to Asia), and I have all my contacts, all the time, and can sync from anywhere.If I can get Bluetooth to work properly with good volume control, I'll revise my rating to 5/5.

Siemens does not offer upgrades and drops support for phones
I owned the SX56.When it first came out, it was installed with Windows 2002.Months later all manufacturers offered the upgrade to Windows 2003.Most things you do with a Pocket PC phone require the latest version of Windows.Siemens pulled support for Windows 2003 while still selling the SX56.Now my PDA/phone is basically a big, square cell phone.You can do less and less with a Windows 2002 phone every day.
The bottom line is, Siemens has no honor and cannot be trusted.If you call support, they say "We don't offer support for Windows 2003, can I help you with anything else?"If you press them on the issue, they hang up the phone.It's unbelievable.

PDA is great - Phone quality is poor
Aside from locking up and needing rebooting twice in 2 months the PDA is fine, however the voice quality incoming and outgoing is less than quality... I am going back to my digital cell and keeping the PDA

Good for business use, not that great for consumers
The Siemens SX66 is a WIndows CE based Smartphone designed mostly for business usage.For Consumer purposes it is a bit of an overkill and is not particularly optimized for some entertainment purposes.

This review is written mostly with Business usage in mind (I use it with a Goodlink e-mail client) I also include some consumer comments at the end.

Screen and Input modes.
The SX66 includes a large screen that can fit more elements than other smaller screen phones.This is particularly useful to browse through e-mails.It gives you a choice of typing via a qwerty keyboard or through a virtual keyboard and your stylus.It includes many programmable keys that are mapped to many Windows applications, such as Explorer, e-mail, calendaring, tasks and phone answer and hang up.

Other useful tools: for talking you can use it as any phone talking, or use its wired headset (included) or use its speakerphone mode.It also has a built in camera and a built in voice recorder.

Business Applications
As many other Windows CE handhels (PDAs or smartphones) you can find many applications both for business as well as for consumer purposes.Coupled with an e-mail business client software (e.g. Goodlink) you can have Blackberry-like functionality as your e-mails, meetings and other corporate e-mail items can be pushed into your handheld via GPRS or WiFi. One nice thing about the SX66 vs. Blackberry is that the SX66 with the right software can open most MS Office attachments (and you can even modify some of them).

Using this phone for business apps (e-mail, calendar, et al) this phone is a great tool.Its large screen and its keyboard options allow for great e-mail reading and for composing short e-mails (or SMS messages).For large e-mails, honestly, your notebook is a much better tool.

Battery Usage / Power Options
Battery duration is good but not great for regular phone usgae, it will typically last for one day.If you use it heavily for e-mail or for PDA apps (e.g. taking notes) its battery life greatly diminishes to less than one day.There are many packages in the market so you can charge it in the middle of the day via USB, USB cradle, car charger or regular power adapters.The nice thing in any of them is that it charges really quickly. so can be back to full charge in less than 1 hr.

Networking options
The networking options are many and very useful.It can operate on quad-band GSM (it operates in most countries), it can hook to GPRS, WiFI and Bluetooth networks.It also has infrared connectivity to connect to other portable devices.GPRS is available in most GSM cellular networks, and it will give you pretty much ubiquitous access but at somehow slow speeds (it is good for e-mail clients, as they typically push text into the handhels), for faster access use WiFi and connect is the same networks you connect on your notebook.

Consumer usage
- Not as good performing video.I have tried a couple of times to play home videos (e.g. 30 sec shots taken with my camera) and it has basically stalled and taken long to recover.
- Not as good performing games, its video performance makes it unpractical.
- Built in camera lacks the quality and is below some lower cost phones.

PROS
- Large screen, larger than most phones in the market.
- Variety of input modes.
- Variety of tools.
- Pre-programmed buttons allow quick access to most useful functions.
- Variety of Wireless networks to connect to.
- Good-sized memory included, can be increased greatly using an SD-Card.

CONS
- Battery life is limited.Needs midday recharging if you use PDA or e-mail heavily trough the day.
- Included camera has very limited resolution, pictures come out with a lot of noise and its colors are not that great.
- Lack of EDGE networks support.
- A bit heavy and large format, you need to use its carrying case.
- Video playing is very poor.Don't even bother trying.

Good, PDA, OK phone
on the whole, I really like my SX66.The reception I get with Cingular (even after the takeover) is not quite what I got with my old AT&T phone, so I believe this is due to the phone itself.

For talking on, the quality is certainly acceptable, but by no means the best cell phone I've ever had.A hands free device is a good thing to have since the phone itself is rather bulky.

That brings us to the downsides:

* The included hands free microphone/headset broke within a month.
* The bluetooth headset I bought (Jabra BT250) has generates a pretty consistent amount of static if the phone is more than a foot or two from the headset.

Everything is functional, and because of the data capabilities I have to say I like the phone and wouldn't trade it in for another, but it'd be a definite 5 star device if they could iron out the bluetooth static issue. ... Read more

very disappointed w/Motorola
This phone was an extreme disappointment.I had to return for another phone after trying to use it for 3 days.The volume is very quiet, even in maximum!The screen is very small and difficult to see in the day light.The bottom of the phone to charge plug is not smooth and has sharp edging.No wonder they had to give more rebate than the 1c cost for you to use it.It is not worth it.

Decent Phone
I like this phone for many reasons, but with any phone there are some drawbacks. First of all this phone is very small and stylish. This phone offers a lot of bang for your buck. It has Mp3 ringtones, a decent camera, and good internet browsing and MMS capabilites. However, the joystick is very cumbersome. It may seem like a good idea, but it begins to lose sensitivity after about a week. Also, like other reviewers noted, when trying to push it straight down to take a photo or select an item in the menu, you normally wind up pushing it the wrong way. T-Mobile service is very good. I have been with them for 3 years. Previously I owned a Samsung r225m (see my review on its product page) and with the Motorola phone, I have noticed areas that I now get reception where I previously didn't with the Samsung. Overall, the this is a great, inexpensive phone, with great service, small design, and powerful multimedia features make a great cell phone for all.

Shipping sucks. Phone svc charge starts before activation.
Haven't got the phone yet but the 1 star is for the shipping.

Ordered 2 phones on Monday, the phone was not shipped "within 24 hours" cuz Amazon said I chose the "FREE Super Saver Shipping".Then Amazon used USPS and I did not get the phone until Tuesday the next week.That's more than a week from the date the order was made. T-Mobile starts charging the cell phone service from Wednesday when the phone left the warehouse.Ended up paying cell phone service when the phone is not even activated.

The shipping experience sucks.Should never believe "usually shipped within 24 hours" if you choose free shipping.Be ready to pay extra $ for the days you haven't even received the phone.

Awful product
This is my 4th phone from T-Mobile, and in some ways its the least usable phone yet. The unit has speakerphone and headset capabilities which allow you to never hold the phone up to your head. This may interest you if you are concerned about electromagnetic radiation that mobile phones emit. I am glad to say that this phone has decent reception in my area, but there is still a delay when speaking with people and regular audio dropouts. These two problems may be related to the T-Mobile service, not the phone itself. Unfortunately this phone is plagued by some simple problems that I amazed did not get solved before this phone was released. When the screen goes dark it is unreadable under most lighting situations. You have to first press a key to get the screen to light up, which it will not do if the phone's keypad is locked. If you need to make a call in a pinch or emergency situation, there is a good chance you will not be able to due to the dark screen/keypad lock situation. Next, the phone does not ring loud enough. I was looking forward to taking advantage of the C650's ability to use digital audio files, but at maximum volume its still not that loud. I even boosted the volume of my files manually to help with this but its just not loud enough. This causes missed phone calls. Speaking of transferring files, it was a nightmare. For anyone who is not technically inclined beware: the phone does not come with the cable (standard mini USB cable), or software drivers to connect the phone to your PC. I had to hunt on internet search engines for almost 15 minutes to find the drivers. So, the greatest selling points about this phone are mostly useless. It does function as a phone if you are willing to work around all the problems.

OK phone with some drawbacks.
I had an old Nokia and needed to upgrade because the battery had died and it was cheaper to get a new phone than buy a new battery. I also needed a tri-band (900/1800/1900) phone because I needed it to work in the US and Europe. The C650 fit the bill and it was cheap. I am not disappointed, though the phone has some annoying drawbacks.

On the plus side, the phone has a standard USB interface. I had the Motorola MobileTools CD from an earlier Motorola phone I bought in Europe and installed the software on my laptop (the CD has drivers for all Motorola phones) and was able to access the C650 and all multimedia features from my laptop very easily. This allows you to download photos/videos to your PC and easily update your address book and personalize the phone (use any MP3 audio file as your ring tone etc).

Major annoyances: as other reviewers have noted, the display is very dark unless the backlight is on. This is annoying because the backlight is turned off by default when you lock the keyboard, so sometimes it can be hard to tell if the phone is on at all (pressing a key doesn't do anything, you have to unlock the keyboard, then lock it again).

The little "joystick" control is very hard to use, especially when you have to press it in the center position to select a menu choice (most of the time I end up pushing it in the wrong direction). My main gripe is that the AC adapter only works on 110V current. This is unforgivable for a tri-band 'world phone, all the more so because it's advertised as a 'travel charger' but doesn't work outside the US: all my other phones had 110/220V adapters so like an idiot I assumed this one was and I fried it by plugging into an European power outlet. In the end I had to buy two separate adapter, one for 110V and another 220Volt for travel purposes.

Standby and talk times are as advertised, so no complaints there.
I don't really care much for the camera or any of the other multimedia features, so I can't comment on the picture quality asI have no basis for comparison against other phones.

Overall, it's an adequate phone that's worth its money as long as you don't have unrealistic expectations (and are willing to buy a new AC adapter if you plan to travel to Europe). ... Read more

Worse than my Samsung x105..
Yes, it really is worse than my Samsung x105. I've been using this phone for nearly a month. It looks really cute and seemed like a good upgrade from my last non-flip phone but, its looks don't make up for its functionality.

Good: I've noticed that this phone has an improved T9 system. The colors on screen are very vibrant.

Bad: First off, the reception is the worst I've ever had. People often have a hard time hearing me and vice-versa. People always tell me to repeat myself. The battery life is pretty bad. With my last phone I would charge it every 3-4 days. This one I have to charge every other day and I rarely use it. The ringtones sound "tingy" compared to my last phone and often hard to hear.

I have to disagree with all the previous reviews... Maybe I just got a bad phone. >:( If I did, I wonder if its too late to return it.

Good, Cheap (meaning inexpensive) phone
This is my first tmobile phone, before i had the much bulkier and expensive vox8610 from Virgin mobile. this phone is GREAT. comes with 4 games, around 20 ringtones with the feature of downloadable mp3 ringtones. you can picture message, send sound files - record you own and send them. i love the Ondemand Alerts, i can check the Red sox score by sending the word SOX to the number 444 - after i set my code words of course, and within 4 seconds i have the up to date score - good for when your stuck in a play and the sox are on - (true story)

fun tip* aside from teh games, if your bored try pressing the number "2" like 40 times, slow down near the end and on one of the pushes it will get stuck vibrating. even when you close the phone it will keep going, the only way to stop it is to push a numbered button. but if your bored enought you could play teh pussycat with it or something. *it may have to be set on "voice" under sound options for keytone.

Great Little Phone
I've been using the Samsung x475 for a while now and I must say that I'm very satisfied with it. The small size and weight of the cell allow it to be easily stored away and provide a lot of comfort when you need to be on the phone for a long period of time. Not to mention the hands-free set it comes with helps to make things that much more comfortable.

I love the overall look and design of the phone. It has an attractive blue/silver cover and a service light (green-default) that can also let you know when you have received a voicemail or text message (red-default). The screen is very easy to read and it's simple to navigate through everything and change your settings.

The charger it comes with doesn't need to be used as much as I thought it would. I find that I can use the phone all day long and still not lose even a single bar on the three-bar battery line. Of course, I do put it on the charger almost every night just to be on the safe side of things.

Next comes the fun part: accessories. Hi-fi ringers, wallpaper, games, cases, etc. Most of these are pretty self-explanatory, but I love the Hi-Fi Ringers that you can purchase from T-Mobile's site and then assign each one to a different contact in your phone book. It's a great feature that will let you know the difference between a call you really want to take and a call that you would rather let your voicemail answer instead.

I'd recommend this phone to anyone wanting a standard flip-cell without the need of a camera. It's a really good purchase for all of us minimalistic lovers out there who just need something that can get the job done.

Real nice
I just got this phone, and it's smaller than I expected. When I measured it, it turned out to be 3 and 3/8 by 1 and 6/8 by 7/8. At any rate, it turned out to be smaller than I anticipated. The screen is really bright, the backlighting of the number pad is very nice and bright, and it's built pretty durably for a samsung phone. There's this transparent dot in the middle of the face that lights up when it rings, or it serves as a blinking signal indicator kind of like the old startacs. It charges very quickly, and when you type numbers to dial it displays it in enormous font size for people with bad eye sight.

I was really surprised by the service. I looked at the tmobile coverage map, and my area was not very green (digital), in fact my surrounding area was all tan (not even light green). However, I get all full bars of signal in my home, and this phone seems really good at picking up signals according to other reviews I've read. In fact, I get much better signal and call quality with tmobile than I do with cingular (their map claims my area is all green). Also, the included (wired) headset is very nice and clear.

Anyways, on to the cons. Like other reviewers mentioned, the ringer tones stink. They're crazy eccentric tones no self-respecting person would want to use. But whatever; no big deal. The only other thing I wish this phone came with is a holster. I don't like cases because they make the phone bulkier and not very good for clamshell phones. So you're stuck sticking this phone in your pocket where it seems easily scratchable, like most other phones on the market. Other than this, I really like this phone. Blackberry 7290 - Cingular
I couldn't be happier with this Blackberry. Cingular service is clear and I live in an area that all cell phone companies have reception issues.I setup 4 email addresses and I receive mail from all 4 accounts seemlessly.What a great invention especially for those of us that need to be in email contact for business reasons.

Accidental disconnections
I am still learning all the 'wonderful' things that the Blackberry 7290 can do.For right now, I am using it mostly as a cell phone and to get email.

What I find annoying is the design of the trackwheel and side button.The side button -- which disconnects a phone call -- happens to be right where I would normally hold the phone.Result: I often inadvertently disconnect a call.Very maddening!

Works great with my corporate enterprise service
I have had no problems. Works great with my corporate "enterprise server". If your company supports this device for email, you will love it. I travel quite a bit and I now leave my laptop at home for daytrips (I bring my PPT presentations on a USB drive). I recommend the phone service as part of it. My co-workers had a separate phone and then switched to all on the BBerry (both phone and email)...it was more conveniant and he looked like a dork with two devices on his belt!

Using the phone is not as slick as a regular cell phone, but if you use your phone for 90% business like I do, the benefits od the enterprise server outweighs the negatives (e.g. being able to look up internal company numbers wirelessly through the enterprise server).

Motorola Bluetooth headset works well with this unit.

Cingular works fine for me (no worse than any other provider). I am in the Chicago area.

I haven't figured out how to add a separate instance of my personal email and contacts on the unit. I don't want to intermix them with my work contacts/email. I am pretty sure there is a way to accomplisg this, but I have not had the time to work through it.

I'm sold on this unit.

BlackBerry is a big JOKE & Cingular is the WORST
I spent over $90 per month for data and voice on Cingular's plan that claims "Rising the Bar", meaning their own own bank account!

Cingular is the biggest worst cellular provider with the worst reception. The BlackBerry just doesn't work, it is slow and the calls drops within 10 seconds of initiating any local or long distance calls!

I have been a celluar user for 20 years and Cingular was and still is the worst in customer service, reception quality, and just not worth a penny a call as they grab your attention with their roll-over minutes. I had over thousands of rolled-over minutes that I couldn't use, because their service just doesn't work.

I dropped Cingular and am using my BlackBerry to play games!
Don't waste your money, sign with another carrier (No Contract), other than Cingular, Cingular is the worst and BlackBerry still needs a lot of R&D to make it work.

Do NOT buy this if you are a single user...
PLEASE NOTE This unit does NOT synchronise fully with your desktop email program unless you are using it as part of a corporate network. After endless hours on the phone with cingular and blackberry tech support it transpires that you must buy an additional $3,000.00 server to make this unit synchronise effectively with Outlook or other desktop organizers.This is not as advertised! I've had it for about a week.
The phone rules.The speaker isnt as low, as others say..it could be louder, but its fine!
It is soo easy to type. fast. AOL IM's are lightening fast. TUrn pictures off on websites and browse, easy! take like 30seconds to load a page.
The games stink ...5$ a game,and the 1 free one is garbage. ring tones are garbage.....they are all rap.90percent. and you can't download them, anywhere, on the internet...only from TMObiLE.2$ a song.
Buy the alarm for 5$, its awsome.
Camera is pretty bad, and flash is useless. But with all the other stuff...who cares? But, u can capture, a fun a moment..its good enough..Scrolling is super easy, very easy to learn and master.

Almost but not quite
I really like the features and it's very easy to type on of course. I like the design, the interface, the whole concept.

But using this as a phone is terrible.

My calls are constantly dropped and I am always losing connection.70% of the time I have to dial a number 3 or 4 times to get the call to go through.

When I actually am in a call, the reception is bad. It doesn't matter if I am in a bathroom or the top of a 30 story building in the middle of downtown. I have to say "Can you hear me now?" so much you'd think I'm in a Verizon commercial.

If the reception on this phone was actually good, then I would be keeping this phone. Instead I am going to have to sell it because it's really ticking me off.

Still Unavailable
This is rediculous.i ordered one and they never sent it to me or said anything, then one day about a week after i was supposed to recieve the item the web site said this item is currently unavailable!!What the F.

Amazing tool!
Okay, so it's not high-speed internet, but WOW! I have had a Sidekick II for several months and amazed at the capabilities of this little unit.It easily gets my e mail from the POP3 server of my ISP (does not get web-based mail), the browser is pretty darn good for something that fits into your purse and the speed is much improved since I first got it.I love the camera, it's really pretty good quality.The phone, eh, not the best, but with the speakerphone or hands-free, it's fine.

I will never be without my Sidekick again!

Good Phone , Bad Coverage
The Sidekick II phone is amazing, it's like a mini laptop.The only problem is that you would get more service coverage with a walkie talkie than T-Mobile.If I'm in the middle of Hollywood or Los Angeles, my connections are still bad even in such a metro area.I have trouble havea conversation for more than 10 minutes cause it just gets so staticy and disconnects at random.

Nextel and Motorola have developed the ultimate "ultra cool, super sleek, power attitude, I am the man / I am the woman, great phone w/the Nextels and esp the i830. Not only does it have consistent great sound quality on calls, but the ability to quickly contact other Nextel friends or relatives with a single push of the Direct Connect button makes other phones "just another phone".
**By the way, the Direct Connect (2 way radio) is usable in FULLY PRIVATE mode by simply pressing 1 button. The speaker turns off, you hold the phone to your ear, you scroll to the name of the bud you wish to contact, you push the button to talk and release it to listen and NO ONE has to hear your fast Direct Connect conversation. All Nextel phones have the privacy button for Direct Connect. It makes voice mail such a waste of our time.
That is how I use my Nextel all day at work in the office, I also keep mine on silent vibrate mode for totally discrete private use.
Look at any volunteer fireman/firewoman, construction person, cop, or young Jr High/HS kid in the Westchester/Dutchess/Rockland/Putnam County, NY region: you'll see a Nextel on their belt or in their hand. It is THE PHONE where I live.
Just try one. They have so many plans you will find one you like.

A Lot In A LIttle Package
Pros: This is a great phone. It can do everything you want, from the direct connect to calling, speakerphone or not. But is also has Java apps, web access, and text messaging.

The color screen is bright and easy to read. Unlike other Nextel phones (I had the i530), this one has a nice screen to see the number calling before you open the phone. You can answer it with the flip ,or still decide whether to take it or not.

I have the bronze, it is a nice color, and attractive little phone.

The DC is great, volume levels super, and it is nice Nextel is finally providing smaller phones.

Cons: Buttons are a little small for big guy like me, and while the battery life is good, does need to be charged about every night..not a problemo.

A great phone
Before I purchased this phone I read all the reviews.It was the perfect size for me, I loved that it was a flip phone and had the two-way feature, and THIN!!, but I was still very apprehensive about purchasing it because every review I read said the battery life stunk.

I'm glad I gave it a shot.I don't know if my experience with the phone is unique, but I've never had a problem with a low battery.It also charges SUPER fast.I generally put mine on the charger at night, but I've gone almost 3 days without charging it (low usage).I can get two days of use with one charge, and have regularly forgot to charge it at night, plug it in when I'm getting ready in the morning, and have a full day's use.

Other feature I like include the clear color screen, and sound clarity is fantastic. After having this for a few months, I hate using my roommates cell phone..there is just no comparison in sound.

There are a few things I dislike about the phone.I loved the polished steel look, but it scratches easily.I have dropped mine a number of times and it has gotten beat up.Also, it tends to be difficult to use while your driving (unless you use the voice dialing feature) because the option buttons on the screen (such as "store number" and "back") flip irregurly, and don't tend to be intuitional.I'm also not a fan of the speaker on the back of the phone.There is no alarm either.You have to use the "date book" in order to have an alarm and it's not easily set.

But in all I really do love this phone, it has been the best one I have owned in the past 10 years.

I have had this phone for 1year and it is the worst service I have ever had with a wireless company the battery stinks loses life before the day is up I never have service when I want it and drops calls when you are talking I would not advise getting this phone

solid choice
I replaced a high-end previous generation nokia with this phone based primarily on its small size.

The good:
*Size. This phone fits easily in my pocket. I had a tiny nokia and this phone was the only flip phone at the Cingular store that was nearly as narrow.
*Signal. I find the signal coverage to be slightly better on this phone than my nokia (despite cingular's advice to the contrary).
*Battery life. I go a few days between charges. The phone seems to charge quickly, too.
*Usability. I thought it would take time to get used to something other than my nokia but the menus were easy to use.

The OK:
*Camera. The camera is not great in low light, but is fine overall. One annoyance is the camera can be turned on using an external button. I've taken the occasional picture of my pocket. Also, you can't seem to get rid of the camera's shutter sound (I haven't looked that hard, but it wasn't obvious).
*Sound quality. I think sound quality is lower on this phone than on my old nokia. I can hear people fine, but there is a little bit of distortion, like you might hear if you turned your stereo up too loud. It seems to help to keep the volume down a little and/or to tilt the phone slightly away from my ear. Like most phones there are volume buttons on the side of the phone so its easy to adjust.
*Customization. I don't feel like I have as much control over ringing patterns, displays, etc. as I did on my nokia. Still, those are the kinds of things you get used to.

The bad:
There are really no deal-breakers for me on this phone. So far its been a good deal.

Overall a very capable phone. I'm enjoying it.

Excellent features and style. Definetely recommend
I'd have to say that i'm in love with this phone. I recently received it last week, and can't stop playing around with it. For starters, the external display on front of the folder is great. You can choose what color you want it to be, and it has a neat little service light on it as well. Once you open the folder, the screen size is pretty good. The buttons and layout are nothing differen than you average clamshell phone, but that's ok. The softkeys are nice. As for the features, the phone is incredible. Theres too many things you can do to write down, so I won't go into detail. However, let me just say that once you connect to Cingular's MEdia Net, you will be hooked. Lastly, as far as everyone talking about the poor sound quality, just buy the additional earpiece(probably best to get it in the 3 piece travel package) and you should be hearing fine again.

Eh.. A nice phone until you have to talk on it.
Okay, so I started reading reviews AFTER I purchased this phone. Seeing all of the "horrible sound quality!" comments, I was pretty nervous. And I had a reason to be. The sound quality on this phone is awful! I don't think it has anything to do with Cingular or reception, as I've never had problems with cingular before. I just can't hear anything on this phone and what I do hear is muffled and distorted. My friends are tired of me saying, "What did you say?" over and over again and they can't even hear me half the time. Also, I've had several instances of the phone "freezing up" on me. I'll have to remove the battery to get it to start working again.

It's a great looking little phone and the camera is pretty cool and fun to mess around with - but in the end, it is a phone. When you can't use a phone for it's main purpose, you have some problems. Samsung should have put a little more time and effort into the speaker instead of into all the little options that don't really matter much.

Should be taken off the market

Great phone
I did a lot of research before getting this phone and it seems to have gotten a lot of mixed reviews. However, I've been extremely pleased with it. Here's what I've found:

Pros:
- The menu is easy to use and aesthetically very nice.
- Lots of convenient short cut keys.
- The camera quality is pretty good for a cell phone and has adjustable quality levels (Even on low quality, the picture is pretty good if you're keeping it on the cell phone as a background or something).
- Battery life is pretty good- I can go several days without recharging it.
- The reception seems to be pretty good, too.
- I've seen a few reviews of complaints that they kept taking pictures of their pockets accidentally, but there is a key lock, and even without that on, my phone won't take pictures while it's closed. Perhaps they've changed the way the camera button works since then?


Cons:
- It did take a little reading of the manual to find out how to use all of the features (speakerphone and key lock, for example) but once you figure it out, it's quite easy.
- The screen is a little hard to see in bright sunlight, but it's not really a problem unless you're trying to take pictures as it can be hard to see what details are in the shot.
- The built-in ringtones aren't great, but the ringer has good sound, so you can download something better for it.
- The external display alternates between "Verizon Wireless" and the time, which can be annoying when you want to know what time it is and have to wait 5 seconds before the clock comes back.
- No games.

Ugly phone/Bad call quality/
I bought CDMA 9810 (AUDIO VOX) which is SUCKS - NO Question about it. I returned it and bought Motorola 710

I used CDMA 9800 (AUDIOVOX) earlier which was good. I liked it. CDMA 9800 is better than 9810 (which is higher version of 9800)which is quite surprising.

Really good phone for the price.
This phone has a lot of attractive features that make it worth buying, but there are also seveal caveats.

The Good:
- The dual display is very nice, allowing the external LCD to display either an analog or digital clock (the analog clock looks really sharp).The main screen is full-color, which is nice, though becoming standard on cellphones.
- The battery life is long.I can go two days without charging my phone and be fine.There's also an extended-life battery available, though I can't imagine needing it.
- The camera is OK by cellphone standards, but having a flash really helps.Also, the phone has overlay "frames" that allow you to take fun pictures.Another nice feature is the ability to take self-portraits with the external LCD.
- The MP3 ringtones are nice.Instead of a MIDI re-creation of your favorite songs, the real songs themselves play on your phone.There are free services on the web for making your own ringtones, but Verizon likes to combat them.

The Bad:
- The included belt clip doesn't allow the phone to open while holstered, so you have to unclip it to use any functions.
- Sometimes you'll take a picture of the inside of your pocket because the camera button gets pushed.
- The external LCD is black-and-white, unlike newer models with color displays.
- The phone takes a long time to turn on/off when compared to other phones.

Are we talking about the same phone?
This is the worst phone I have ever used.I was a long term sprint customer but figured I would switch to Verizon about a week ago.I get a 22% employee discount so I thought I would switch.After reading reviews on the Audiovox CDM8910, I thought I would get an amazing phone.First off this phone is not user friendly.If you want to use the phone outside, forget about it.The screen turns black in the sun.The camera quality is terrible.The ring tones are horrible and very limited.Plus, there are no games, not even plain old freecell.I almost wish I had my old school LG phone, it may have been basic but at least it was easy to use.So beware of some of these reviews about how great this phone is.Or do what I did and buy the phone just to exchange it for something better.

Disappointing
Pros:(1) First tri-mode phone that would work inside my house.Don't know if that's due to upgrades in Verizon's network since the last time I tried to switch to a tri-mode orif it's that this phone has more range.I tried many tri-mode phones that didn't work and had to keep going back to my trusty Audiovox 4000 dual-mode phone for its better range.

(2) Good display for older eyes, except very difficult to see in a quick glance who the caller is when a call comes in on call waiting while you are talking to someone else.With my old phone, I could see the incoming caller's number in a split second and get the phone back up to my ear so I didn't miss much of the conversation I was in.On this one, the number of the person you are talking to is clear but it's hard for the eye to find and read the number of the person on call waiting, especially in high ambient light.

Cons:(1) Short battery life.Short car cord.Once the battery is dead, I try to keep talking by plugging in the car cord and hunching over close to the cigarrette lighter so the short springy cord doesn't pull the plug out, but after a minute or so, the phone shuts down even with power from the cigarette lighter if the battery is dead. Maybe my charger or battery is defective.

(2)Camera -- no way to get pictures out except by sending them to yourself over the internet, which costs money. But that's okay, because the picture quality is poor so why would you want them? No way to lock buttons, so you are constantly taking pictures of the inside of your pockets and especially of your shoulder as you answer calls and accidentally hit the shutter button.

All-in-all, a step down from my trusty, clunky old Audiovox 4000 which I used for years.I would still be using the 4000, except Verizon insists they will charge me $150/month for 2000 minutes with the 4000, plus charge for long distance, whereas with a tri-mode it's $99 and free long distance. Waaaa!

So now it's off to the Verizon store to return this phone and try another. ... Read more
