Shall I go on? Do yourself a favor, avoid all Sony Ericsson products. If this phone is any indication of their commitment to product quality, they need to get out of the business.
Bluetooth performance was spotty. I needed to re-establish the bluetooth link with headset quite frequently. Sometimes this worked without a hitch other times it took several tries. Reception on the phone was spotty in some areas where other ATT Next Generation phones had good reception...don't know why this was. My biggest complaint about this phone was its durability. Through normal wear and tear it just didn't measure up. The earpiece volume button popped off just a couple of months after I got the phone. This was a real problem since there was no other way to easily adjust earpiece volume. I think ATT had a lot of problems with these phones since they offered free replacements with another model (unfortunately that model did not have bluetooth or many of the other features).
But the cons kill me. Ive had two of these phones. First off that little side volume button didn't break off but it no longer works and that happened on both phones. The first phone it just kinda wiggled up and down. It does what it is supposed to do on this phone but it just refuses to work. It worked for about a week and just stopped. When I first had this phone, I had some huge roaming bills cuz it would just randomly jump into cingular. I still get charged for text message roaming sometimes...don't ask me how. Keeping numbers on the SIM card is a hassle because you can't do categories with this phone for the SIM. It has to be MOM Cell, MOM Home, MOM Work etc. whereas if you store them on the phone you can just put MOM and then enter her work, cell, home, email etc. in the different slots. My first phone threw a hissy fit and had a memory malfunction. One day it just decided that it was going to erase 3/4 of my numbers. Basically my phone booked looked like Alan space space space space Cindy space space space space space space Tammy etc. You had no access to the deleted numbers nor could you recover them and a bonehead AT&T operator told me to do memory reset and i lost ALL of my numbers after that. This phone is also prone to shutting itself off within pockets are purses even if the key lock is on. It has the voice dial but it would help if the voice dial rerecognized my voice. i set it up but hardly use it. The ringtones suck and if you're a person who likes to play games (which I don't) those stink too. This phone is a little old and outdated so i say buy something current and more costly and don't waste your $150.

Cons: Overall comments:
After about 6 hours out of the box (four of those hours charging), the phone's operating system locked up, and the screen is now blacked out (probably permanently). The phone only responds with a pleasant chime as it starts up, but sadly, nothing else. I sincerely thought that some of the negative reviews for this product were from purchasers with gripes against the manufacturer or service provider. At worst, maybe these bad reviews were isolated incidents, and I could beat the odds. However, in the end, I must sadly concede and admit that this is a terrible product and should be avoided at all costs. Hopefully, Amazon will allow me to exchange this for a different model and manufacturer.
Cons Poor alarm setting options. Although it has recurring alarms, T610 only allows you to set one alarm. If you want an alarm to go off at 7:20 and another one at 7:45, you will not be able to do that with T610. Go for Samsung phones if you need more alarm options. Pros Good sound quality. I'm not talking about reception here. With full signal strength, T610 gives you a smoother and milder voice than my old Nokia 3560, which makes you feel like you are talking to a robot. By the way, T-Mobile has good signal performance in St Louis area.
T-Mobile's coverage is patchy at best. Even in a region with "excellent coverage" like mine, there are a significant number of pockets with low or no reception. Sadly, one of those pockets just happens to be my home. We have three phones here and can't use them. I rang T-Mobile and told them this. They assured me they would investigate and contact me again within 36 hours - they didn't. One week later I got a postcard in the mail telling me how great the reception in my area was... just in case I thought otherwise. I have complained about this but I don't expect a positive outcome. The T-Mobile plans are also troublesome. They give you a WAP-enabled (web browsing) phone, they tell you that your plan has WAP access, then they don't allow you to use WAP. The only site you can access is the T-Mobile site telling you to pay more money for WAP access. This has upset a lot of customers but T-Mobile's attitude has been "OK, then sue us!". Some customers are doing just that. So the bottom line is that there are better cell phones out there, and T-Mobile as a service has issues that need to be weighed in any buying decision. My advice is to be very careful before jumping on this, or indeed any other cell phone deal. Ask you friends and colleagues how happy they are with their cell phone plans. ... Read more | |

What's in the Box Features Reviews (21)
It uses a special type of headset jack so you can't get a new headset -- and the one it ships with is uncomfortable and low-quality. It's hardly hands-free when I have to constantly use one hand to keep the earbud from falling out of my ear! The keypad design makes the buttons difficult to press -- I need both hands to type on it. Instead of several configurable ring-sets, you have only two options: ring and vibrate. Every ring tone that comes with the phone is absurd, and set in the highest ear-splitting frequencies. It has a ring tone composer, but due to what seems like a bug you can't insert consecutive rests -- necessary if you want to mimic the "beep once" feature that nearly every other phone offers. There's no way to turn the phone on without it making a loud beeping noise -- a definite problem if you ever need to send messages from classes or meetings When you unlock the phone, it freezes for a second or two before you can type anything. There's also no autolock feature, and it's _extremely_ easy to press buttons accidentally while it's in your pocket. Not one day goes by when some feature of this phone doesn't cause me annoyance. The interface on my first cell phone, back in '99, was better than this. I feel like I've been scammed.
The ring tone is nice and low profile. The blue back light is cool. The address book is good. The vibrate tone is a bit motor like, but is liveable. It is as small as a flip phone but is ergonomic. The number buttons are out and accessible, unlike models where they are embedded in the phone. The only features I use (and want in a phone) is good sound quality even when the phone shows 1 line of signal, the organizer and scheduler, the calendar and the phone book. I am extemely happy with my choice on all these counts. Of course the price is the best!

I do agree with some of the postings about the phone not "opening" up enough....I don't understand that. But anything is a step up from my AT&T v60i...man...what a piece of junk..dropped calls....really hard to use...not intuitive at all...I had gone from a startac..(which I LOVED) to the v60i...what a mistake!! Anyways---I LOVE my i500.....the only time I had to read the manual was in installing the software and doing my first sync with my Palm Desktop.----I have read in these postings that this is also OS X compatible.....Since I'm a huge Mac user...that is manna from heaven for me!! Although I havent tried to sync this with my G5 yet....so, we'll see. This phone is intuitve...easy to see and understand...not a huge learning curve...great features....no stupid cameras or mp3 players...nothing you don't need...never be late for another appointment again...never forget your schedule again...never fumble for another phone number or address again.... I'm a returning Sprint customer, my wife and I were customers about 3 years ago and the coverage was really spotty, especially when we would go out to the barn to see our horses....they've apparently improved thier network substantially..so we'll see... OKAY...A FOLLOW UP FOR ALL OF YOU MAC USERS OUT THERE....YES THIS PHONE SYNCS BEAUTIFULLY WITH PALM 4.1 DESKTOP SOFTWARE!!!!! YEEEEE---HHAAWWWW!!!! Two hints: Turn the phone OFF!!! and trash the "photos" conduit.....(what do you need it for anyway..really). This baby now syncs PERFECTLY with OS 9 & OS X!!!! I have a PEECEE at my office and bought another hot sync cradle from samsung to have for my Mac(s) at home so my wife can keep track of my schedule....MAJOR kudos to Samsung for coming out with a remarkable phone, I havent (yet) experienced any of the problems that I've read about here. So there you have it. Macintosh & PC compatibility & Palm OS.....in a SMOKIN' phone!!!!!
It does everything I want very well. I need all my addresses in oneplace synced to My Yahoo, all my calender with alarms, my expenses and my to do list. It has call forward by sprint when Iam in areas where there is no reception or I should not answer the phone like the hosp. It is my pager also. Of course I would have liked to see who is calling on the cover but so be it. but it doesnt matter cause I would have answered anyway, so I set it up so when I flip the lid open the phone answers. I dont need a silly camera or blue tooth (what ever it is) to make me happy . This phone can be used by serious people for business with absolute reliability because of the second battery which I change everymorning as well as crystal clear reception. So If you have to be always availbale on the phone for business reasons This is the phone for you.
That said, You can't go wrong with this phone. You can't go wrong with a Treo 600 either, I own both. I don't really think you can compare the two, they are totally different concepts and given apples to apples, one will always dominate the area you set out to compare. IE: I'm still waiting on that *5 star* phone that DOES smoke 'em all, it's not out there...yet. (the i550 due out in Jan 05 might get there) Anyhow, i500 Pros: 98 voice dial tags, Flip design (I like the way the flip opens, keeps it off my cheek so the screen doesn't get all greasy), Size (same size as my wife's Star Tac), Voice memo/converstion record, Screen clearly visable in direct sunlight! (try that with your Treo 600), Unlimited battery power, Quality of build, Tri-band w/analog roam, 3G internet speed, Loud Loud Loud ringer and earpiece (earpiece is loud enough to use as speakerphone and I can hear the ringer while I'm riding my motorcycle!) Cons: It has 'em like everything else, read about 'em in other reviews. If ya need a phone with a PDA get a i500, if ya want a PDA with a built-in phone, get a Treo 600, if ya want a perfect combo, wait about 6 months...They are getting real close now.

It has lots of really nice features. The 1.8" screen is bright and colorful, with good resolution. It has a built in camera which takes fairly good pictures which you can use as your screen's background. You can also e-mail and upload the pictures if you pay for the service. The battery lasts forever. The phone has PCS web access. You can also download games and programs to make the phone more functional. It has a built in calculator. You can use it as a modem if you purchase a USB cable and software (which Sprint no longer provides). You can upload the pictures to Sprint's web cite and then e-mail them. The pictures you take or d/l can be displayed as four to a screen thumbnails. So, what's the catch? "Sprint" charges for everything. And the contract is for two years. You can upload pictures, backgrounds, ringers and software from your computer -- if you buy for the cable and software, which Sprint no longer supplies, but I can't find software to d/l my pictures directly to the computer. (The cable and software can be purchased separately, but not together! There are three sets of software -- again each sold separately!) If you want access to your pictures, you have to upload them to Sprint's web cite, and then download. Sprint charges for this service. I bought a USB cable to try to use the phone as a modem. I used it for a very short period, and had my phone turned off the next day because I ran up a bill of $80.00. In some ways, it is kind of offensive. At least they reversed the charge because I had two months free trial!

Can't understand all the negative reviews. Voice quality is good, Cmaera is so-so, but it's a phone, not a camera. I agree the the web service is slow, but again, it's a phone...And it does work. No, there are no fancy ringers for free, but I can tell when I get a call. I'd buy another!

The best feature is the full qwerty keyboard. It takes a little time to get used to, but after a few minutes you will wonder how you got along without it. It is so easy to check and reply to e-mail messages that it almost makes the Blackberry obsolete. The only thing that a Blackberry has is the push e-mail. If you don't need the message immediately go with this phone. It certainly puts all others to shame. Nokia certainly put some time and effort into this phone. All I can say is that they did it all right.
This phone is the perfect bridge between a regular mobile phone, and a PDA/PDA phone. Helpful "get organized" features consist of a calendar, note pad, voice recorder, alarm clock, wallet, and to-do list. You have great flexibility in choosing which features to assign to a quick "go to" button, and the items can include features, profiles, and even web site addresses. Overall, I am 100% satisfied with this phone and feel that it is well worth the price. If you are a PC user, you can use the Nokia PC suite application to sync your computer & phone. If you are a Mac user (like me), the 6820 is not yet supported by iSync. However, you can transmit files via Bluetooth and can send Address Book cards to the phone, also via Bluetooth.

I get clear reception, good service, and an awesome $10/mo plan which includes unlimited Text messages and unlimited PCS Vision usage. So, i would highly recommend this phone. It's small, light-weight, and a fun phone to play with.
-The power button is on the top of the phone and does not stick out so it is hard to turn the phone on/off.

The selling point on the 3300 is the music player. It plays MP3 files and "raw" (not MPEG-4 encoded) AAC files. Because it does not support the MPEG-4 compression, you're better of with using MP3, as the raw AAC files at the same bitrate are acutally larger in size with no noticeable difference in quality. The music player is among the best I've listened to (it actually has some BASS output) with the provided stereo headset; you can also listen to it with the single-ear (mono) earpiece and the player knows the difference and switches from stereo to mono accordingly. You can also listen to either the music player or FM radio using the loudspeaker on the phone, but to listen to the FM radio you still have to keep the headset connected, as it utilizes the headset wire as an FM antenna. I have encountered an issue where the music player will arbitrarily change tracks, or the FM radio will spontaneously kick over to another station preset, but it could be from accidental keypresses on the case that I have the phone in. This phone also includes a recorder and a special audio cable (3.5mm standard plug on both ends) for connecting an external CD player or other equipment to record from to the MMC card (64MB) supplied with the phone. The phone records 64Kbps, 32KHz "raw" AAC format (64MB = about 2 hours of audio), which is fine if you are recording from the radio or voice but not the greatest if flawless quality is your preference from your CDs. The Nokia Audio Manager 3.1 software supplied with the phone is clunky and stalls frequently; I highly recommend using RealPlayer 10 with the Nokia Mobile Device plug-in (which also handles conversion to MP3 for you); RealOne Player with the plug-in is also included on the CD that comes with the phone. If you have a separate MMC reader, you can read the cards in that rather than in the phone to speed up transfers. The phone itself is a decent quality phone, as with most Nokia handsets. However, if you don't want to look like a space alien talking on it, you'll find yourself using the earpiece almost always (otherwise, you hold the narrow back side of the phone to your face to talk; which looks tacky and feels awkward). The full keyboard on the US "B" model is excellent for text messaging and e-mail--*IF* you have light to see it with (only the call, hang-up, and directional buttons light up, which means you can't see the numbers or keyboard in the dark--major issue if you have to communicate in less-than-ideal lighting; keep a little mini flashlight with you). The 3300 supports Java MIDP 1.0, which is wonderful. Most of the apps I used most frequently on my MPx200 I have found suitable Java alternatives for (MyCast Weather, Virca IRC client, EmailViewer e-mail client, and MapQuest Mobile for real-time directions are among some of the apps I use often). The built-in e-mail client is adequate, but forces you to download entire messages instead of just headers to see what you *really* want to read (downloading full messages can consume your GPRS bandwidth in a hurry if your e-mail box is big), so I use ReqWireless E-Mail viewer, which doesn't have that disadvantage. Like all Series 40 Nokias, the Calendar is very basic with limited capability, but the Contacts database is robust. Which brings up another major issue with this phone: lack of PC Suite support. The data cable supplied with the phone only interfaces with the MMC card in the phone and not with the phone's interface itself, so if you need to synchronize via cable or use your cell phone as a modem, you'll be SOL on this device. It only supports synchronization over-the-air using SyncML with a SyncML-compliant server (again, a bandwidth hog if your contacts/calendar db is huge); Nexthaus does make a SyncML server to sync with Outlook, but any calendar items not supported by the 3300 get skipped so your calendar is always incomplete (Contacts come through great though). Lastly, you would think that with this phone supporting the MMC card format that it would also support SecureDigital (SD). It does not, and MMC cards are becoming increasingly difficult to find as more vendors make the move to SD cards. The phone comes with a 64MB card, which is sufficient for most people, but if you like more than an hour's worth of MP3s, you'll want to look for a 128MB or 256MB MMC card. I will give it this much: there is a feature to backup and restore your phone's settings to/from the MMC card, which is a smart feature to use in case your phone should be accidentally reset. Overall, I do enjoy this phone, especially the awesome music player and the java support.
