good phone but always drop calls
This phone really gave me good time that I like it very much, however, it often drops calls without any reason. Tmobile offered me another two new phones twice, but it still have this problem. I think, either the phone is not good or Tmobile offers very poor service.

WHOA
Oh my gosh this may be the coolest phone I've ever seen. I first had the Samsung e105 but then dropped it in a fountain and it got fried (whoops!) Now I have the Samsung e315 and love it even better. I didnt really care about a camera (and video) but now that i have it its one of my favorite features. Some other good features are that you can take a picture while the phone is shut and it will show up on the screen on the front (full color screen on front of phone) one other quality that i like is the fact that say you have "Bob" in your contact book. You can take a picture of "Bob" and set it on the contact list so that when "Bob" calls his picture will show up on the front of the phone on the color screen.

This phone is absolutley awesome and I dont know why anyone would do w/o it.

Sophisticated Tin Can
Remember when you were a kid and you tried tying two tin cans together with string to make a "telephone" system? Well, Samsung has faithfully recreated that tin-can sound with this phone. It looks and feels slick and smooth, but hey, doesnt a cell phone first and foremost need to be used to converse?!A real disappointment!

Works great as a phone.
Pros:
-Phone is small (virtually smaller than any other phone on the market)
- sound quality is amazing, no static at all.
- price+contract. it should be -100$ after mail in rebates, which is excellent. It implies you virtually have 2.5 month free.
- I do not like all the bells and whistles, but phone camera is great and easy to use.
- I HAVE NEVER HEARD THIS PHONE TO BE DISFUNCTIONAL (it is the main reason I have bought it). Check other phones and you will see complaints about phones.

Cons:
- no regular phone rings. (I really miss my old cell phone ringing tones. New phones are packed with funky ringtones, but it is a problem of every modern phone.

Battery life needs a lot of improvement
This phone itself is fine, but the battery life is extremely short. I am not for sure but seems like its battery is one of those which need to be completely drained before recharging. Otherwise it develops memory and then slowly its life becomes very less.

Camera is not very useful because of resolution. But otherwise the phone looks sleek.

Depending upon coverage there may be delays in how fast you can make phone calls. Coverage in my area is not very good. So often this phone loses service and I have to wait for a minute or two to be able to make phone calls. This is not a completely this phone's fault though. ... Read more

The phone features a traditional clamshell design with a large 128 x 160 pixels color display with 65,000 colors. Works Pretty Well!
I have a Samsung A650, and travel all around the country driving a truck. Works in most areas, except some with no population. Much better than my old Sprint phone.

I'm going back to old phone! Terrible connections!
So I thought it would be good to trade-up from my old motorolla. Now I'm going back. Who needs a camera and video and color when you can't talk to anyone????

Don't buy this if a clear connection is what you want
AWFUL voice quality

My husband and I got these phones yesterday when we signed on with Verizon - a welcomed switch after six years with T-Mobile (and its predecessor).We were instantly charmed by its sleek appearance and style, and good basic features.That charm quickly faded.

We didn't even have the phones for 24 hours when we realized its HORRIBLE reception!When talking to each other, we were constantly saying, "What?Could you please repeat that?", "I can't understand you - will you say that again?", and of course, Verizon's own, "Can you hear me now?"ARRRRRGH!!Speech sounds garbled, and the sound constantly hesitates and goes out for milliseconds, making conversations stuttered and incomplete.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE is you want clear calls!!We're going back to Verizon, and swapping our phones for an LG-brand.This decision was based on DH calling me from nearly every phone in the Verizon store, and our comparing the quality of each one.

* TERRIBLE voice quality
* Phone heats up quickly - within two minutes - and just gets hotter, the longer you talk.
* I agree with other reviewers - the shutter sound on the camera is horrible.You can change the tone, but you can't adjust the volume.

Avoid this phone (and possibly Samsung)

-- one of our phones stopped working after 4 months of use. Verizon salesperson says this is due to "poor handling" on our part. How do you handle a cell phone poorly? We had to buy another phone.

Frankly this is my first experience with a "picture" phone, not sure if all picture phones are this bad. So I am not in a position to compare. My last Nokia with AT&T lasted 3 years without dropping a call, and Verizon signal strength is supposed to be superior to AT&T at least in the San Francisco Bay Area. My friends say Samsung clam shell model phones are best avoided, in general, i.e. unless you think screen saver is the most useful feature in a cell phone.

not bad, could be better
Well, my first cellphone, and I chose verizon due to the good reception. And for the phone, I loved the look of this phone, and the size. I have had it for a little over a month now, and i am somewhat satisfied. Its not terrible, for such a teeny peice of technology, it's very advanced, but so are all phones.

My pros:
- is very nice/classy looking
- can download cool rings very easily (does not come with great ones)
- the picture quality is very nice in my opinion


My cons:
- cannot turn of [camera] shutter sound, but can change
- not as customizable as i would like (the menu, fonts, sounds etc)
- only 3 options for LED screen (1 digital clock, 2 analog)
- wish it had longer battery life. It lasts 2 full days and one night without turning off, at normal use. dies at about 9 or 10 on the second night.

Basically its a fine phone, i defiantly wish it had more options for customizing, like colors for the menu, optional clock displays, and such, but it works, and its fun.
I guess what I REALLY would want, is to be able to put my photos in folders, like to have a few folders, and you can have personal photos come up as the caller ID, and I wish it would transfer into their contact info, and not clutter up my album when I simply had the photo for caller ID

Not bad but it could be better
This is my current phone. The phone is cool, the menu system is the best that I have seen from Samsung. (I think Motorola has a better menu system) & the camera is ok but not great by any means.

My biggest problem with the phone is that the ringer is very quiet even on the highest setting.

Another problem I found with the phone is if you receive a picture message from a friend you cannot use it for a ringer caller id. You can only use pictures that you have taken.

If I were to get a new phone I would go with a high end Motorola. (I would like to get my hands on a Razor v3 and hack it to use with T-mobile) Because even my old Motorola camera phone (with the detachable camera) had a better menu system then this one.

Bulky Cadillac Slider
Nicest slider phone I have ever had, have gone through three of these phones, the earpiece speaker goes out in them pretty fast after a lot of use, ok picture quality, video is a joke! Very user friendly operating system, even while you talk on the phone. Pimp spring loaded sliding action, but phone is too large for active people. I had to downsize.

If only I can give a "0"
This is by far the worst phone I've ever had.Not just me, but for my dad as well.We both got the same phone with family plan because I live about 400 miles away from home.I've used the Samsung p107 before and it worked great.I got the D415 with high expectations but it failed! After 4.5 months of using it, the screen malfunction.When people call, it does not light up!When I slide the phone open, the speakers don't work.But when I slide it down, it does but the screen doesn't.I was pissed.Then about a month later, the same thing happened to my dad at home.We were both like, wtf.He went back to his old Nokia and I went back to my old Samsung.This model is just bad.For those who gave 5 stars, wait and see.I used to think it was 5 stars.Not anymore.

Love this phone!
I have to say that I've had this phone for almost a year now and it's the best phone I've ever owned.I read many reviews before purchasing it stating that the battery life isn't good at all, but I did not find that true.I use my phone daily, several times a day and the battery holds a charge wonderfully.I have not been happy with the cell phones I've had in the past (and that has been MANY).I loved this phone so much that my husband bought one as well.I wasn't in the market for a camara phone, but this feature proved itself nicely.Good quality pictures.

WTF Samsung !
This is by far the worst phone I've ever owned. I had the Nokia 3650 and I wanted a smaller phone. This phone hasvirtually no features that my old phone had. I just bought this phone solely on aesthetics and because it had a camera. It doesnt look bad but thats about the only thing it has going for it. The picture quality is awful to say the least and I have to recharge it every 2 days(keep in mind I only talk about 10 mins a day because I hate talking on the phone). Not only that but my sometimes it tweeks and just turns off by itself and deletes numbers from my phone book. Please steer clear from this phone...

The best phone ever!
The samsung E715 phone is the best. This phone works great. Takes great pics and battery life last for ever. This great lil phone can take a beating and yet it still works. No problem with this phone.

the worst phone from samsung...crap....
this crappy Samsung E715.. is the worst i have ever seeen. i've owned it for a year and it started to have the same display problem ( like many other customers of the e715).... and after exchanging the phone with t-mobile, the display is fine but the phone started to give queer ringtone sounds. the ringtone is singing very very fast and its such a pain to hear your phone ring!!!!! my first phone had problem with the phone book also!! it would delete the phone book entries stored to the phone overnight. initially i thought it was coz of over charging, but it was going on every couple of weeks and i had to call t-mobile to replace my phone. the picture quality is dreadfully poor... no individual ringtone can be given to each number but has a group ringtone option ( which is sick to have... no individual option but a group option... "r u using ur brains SAMSUNG engineers....").. no option of saving the pictures to the simcard...( it was painful to lose all my 100 odd pics when i had to return my phone for exchange and i lost interest in taking pics anymore after i got the exchange phone). i called t-mobile to make my 2nd exchange. my friend also had the same problems as i had and i would strongly recommend t-mobile to discontinue issuing this model any more and pray god to give the Samsung engineers useful brains to think better and make better phones!!!!!!

Not A Bad Little Phone
I've had the E715 for about 8 months and it's been a fine phone. I made the switch from the Motorola V300 when I had calls that were getting dropped (turns out it's T-Mobile, not the phone, as I've had the same problems with this phone).

I wish I had kept the V300.

The Good:
* It's a cute phone. Very attractive.
* It lights up when on silent, which is a plus.
* The camera isn't bad - better than most camera phones (non mega-pixel phones anyway).
* The disk space is excellent. You can have many photos stored on the phone at once.

The Bad:
* The battery life is terrible. I have to charge this phone every night. I used to charge my V300 twice a week.
* The ringtones are TERRIBLE. As you know, you can't download a "normal" ringtone from T-Mobile. ALL of the ringtones that come with the phone are dreadful, and borderline ridiculous. There is no simple ringtone located on the phone.
* There is a button on the side of the phone that activates the camera with the flip phone closed...this means if it hits something in my bag, it ends up taking a bunch of black photographs (and making that obnoxious shutter noise sound, even on silent). This happens all the time.
* No speakerphone.
* The headset needs to be moved around to work, or you won't hear a thing. Not handy while driving.

Overall, it's a good phone. However, my next phone will be a Motorola, as this phone lacks too many basic features. ... Read more

I got a $10 holster - it says "Sydney Harbour" on the belt clip.This is a great accessory!Keeps phone from getting scratched.I never worry about it falling off my belt.Phone is so small I forget I have it sometimes.

CONCLUSION:
Flashy, pretty and small, but I'd rather it was ugly, had voice dialing, a standard jack, and no fade in and out.(function before form!)

Worse than my Samsung x105..
Yes, it really is worse than my Samsung x105. I've been using this phone for nearly a month. It looks really cute and seemed like a good upgrade from my last non-flip phone but, its looks don't make up for its functionality.

Good: I've noticed that this phone has an improved T9 system. The colors on screen are very vibrant.

Bad: First off, the reception is the worst I've ever had. People often have a hard time hearing me and vice-versa. People always tell me to repeat myself. The battery life is pretty bad. With my last phone I would charge it every 3-4 days. This one I have to charge every other day and I rarely use it. The ringtones sound "tingy" compared to my last phone and often hard to hear.

I have to disagree with all the previous reviews... Maybe I just got a bad phone. >:( If I did, I wonder if its too late to return it.

Good, Cheap (meaning inexpensive) phone
This is my first tmobile phone, before i had the much bulkier and expensive vox8610 from Virgin mobile. this phone is GREAT. comes with 4 games, around 20 ringtones with the feature of downloadable mp3 ringtones. you can picture message, send sound files - record you own and send them. i love the Ondemand Alerts, i can check the Red sox score by sending the word SOX to the number 444 - after i set my code words of course, and within 4 seconds i have the up to date score - good for when your stuck in a play and the sox are on - (true story)

thats it - great phone - get one of your own, if you activate a new membership you can get it for 20 bucks.

fun tip* aside from teh games, if your bored try pressing the number "2" like 40 times, slow down near the end and on one of the pushes it will get stuck vibrating. even when you close the phone it will keep going, the only way to stop it is to push a numbered button. but if your bored enought you could play teh pussycat with it or something. *it may have to be set on "voice" under sound options for keytone.

Great Little Phone
I've been using the Samsung x475 for a while now and I must say that I'm very satisfied with it. The small size and weight of the cell allow it to be easily stored away and provide a lot of comfort when you need to be on the phone for a long period of time. Not to mention the hands-free set it comes with helps to make things that much more comfortable.

I love the overall look and design of the phone. It has an attractive blue/silver cover and a service light (green-default) that can also let you know when you have received a voicemail or text message (red-default). The screen is very easy to read and it's simple to navigate through everything and change your settings.

The charger it comes with doesn't need to be used as much as I thought it would. I find that I can use the phone all day long and still not lose even a single bar on the three-bar battery line. Of course, I do put it on the charger almost every night just to be on the safe side of things.

Next comes the fun part: accessories. Hi-fi ringers, wallpaper, games, cases, etc. Most of these are pretty self-explanatory, but I love the Hi-Fi Ringers that you can purchase from T-Mobile's site and then assign each one to a different contact in your phone book. It's a great feature that will let you know the difference between a call you really want to take and a call that you would rather let your voicemail answer instead.

I'd recommend this phone to anyone wanting a standard flip-cell without the need of a camera. It's a really good purchase for all of us minimalistic lovers out there who just need something that can get the job done.

Real nice
I just got this phone, and it's smaller than I expected. When I measured it, it turned out to be 3 and 3/8 by 1 and 6/8 by 7/8. At any rate, it turned out to be smaller than I anticipated. The screen is really bright, the backlighting of the number pad is very nice and bright, and it's built pretty durably for a samsung phone. There's this transparent dot in the middle of the face that lights up when it rings, or it serves as a blinking signal indicator kind of like the old startacs. It charges very quickly, and when you type numbers to dial it displays it in enormous font size for people with bad eye sight.

I was really surprised by the service. I looked at the tmobile coverage map, and my area was not very green (digital), in fact my surrounding area was all tan (not even light green). However, I get all full bars of signal in my home, and this phone seems really good at picking up signals according to other reviews I've read. In fact, I get much better signal and call quality with tmobile than I do with cingular (their map claims my area is all green). Also, the included (wired) headset is very nice and clear.

Anyways, on to the cons. Like other reviewers mentioned, the ringer tones stink. They're crazy eccentric tones no self-respecting person would want to use. But whatever; no big deal. The only other thing I wish this phone came with is a holster. I don't like cases because they make the phone bulkier and not very good for clamshell phones. So you're stuck sticking this phone in your pocket where it seems easily scratchable, like most other phones on the market. Other than this, I really like this phone. Big Disappointment.
I bought this phone cause I was eligible for an upgrade with cingular. I like to have the latest technology so this phone was going to replace my Sony Ericsson T616 which I loved.I had Nokia (great phones) and Motorolla before (dont care for them really) so I decided to give Samsung a try since I've heard pretty good things about them and the reviews were favorable.
For the price (without commitment) this phone is unaceptable in my book when you can have the Sony s710a for $100 more and it does all the stuff that you would EXPECT a $400 phone to do.

Pros: Great 1.3 MP camera with zoom, flash and other modes.
Good MP3 player, sounds pretty good with the headset that comes with the phone (dont imagine IPOD quality or anything though)
Amazing resolution and color screen

Cons:No triband although advertised as that
No Speakerphone although advertised as that (you can play the MP3s and listen to them through a speakerphone but you cant use it for a call, how DUMB is that?)
No bluetooth?!?
No sync with outlook even though it says so (even my T616 does that).
Cannot assign MP3 you store on the phone as ringtones...PLEASE!
Picture viewing, deleting, etc extremely slow.
No radio.
Battery lasts for a day.

Thankfully I had 30 days to return the phone back to cingular which I did after I tried to like it for 3 days, but I couldn't. Some of the cons are unacceptable for a smart phone like this one and especially at this price.I thought about buying the Sony s710a but I think I am going to wait for the w800.As for now I am back using my beloved T616.

OVERRATED, missing simple features

Full user opinion
This phone is overrated. I was really excited to receive it 2 days ago and now I plan to return it and switch to Verizon. I favor flip phones over the slider, for the simple reason that the screen is protected. Furthermore, when this phone is closed, the screen is blank! You have to slide it open or hold down a button just to see if you have a missed call or see the time/date. Call quality is poor, not nearly as good as when I had T-Mobile with an old T720. Battery life is awful, barely stays charged for more than a day with moderate use. I expected much more than I got with this phone, and am glad I can still return it with no fee.

nice phone..just a few knit picks.
I've had my p777 for a week now...I bought it to replace my x426, and there are just so many new features on this phone that my old Samsung didn't have. So I'm slowly adapting to it.

The one thing that irks me that I probably won't get over is that there is no special "light sequence" or visible light display that alerts you when you have a new message. The sharp red blinking light from my x426 that told me I had a message was something I started to rely on, so now I find myself constantly sliding my phone up to check new messages.

I consider myself fairly computer literate. But it took me a while to get the hang of the EasyStudio File Manager. I finally figured it out, but I also got messages saying the software might not be completely compatible with XP, so I'm not sure if I'll run into problems later.

I was able to store about 20 mp3s on here, that is, including the memory used for pictures, audio, and video. Decent for a phone, but not if you're counting on it being your main music player. I still haven't figured out or found information on how to download mp3s from the wireless web on the phone, or if it's even possible... through my understanding i thought it was..???Anyone ?

Other than those [small] issues, it's a nice phone with tons of features to keep you busy. just make sure they're the right features for Y O U.

Full House with poor basics & NO SPEAKER! Urgh
I have used Samsung phones throughout 90s. Then, Nokia phones twice, then Samsung polyphonic phones twice.

This is my first review on the first day of Cingular network using P777. And I got mine at wirefly.com at $249 (with 181 day rebate credit of $125+$125)

I am quite disappointed that the lengthy manual did not help much after I figured all the menu functions just playing with the navigator key for the first 30 min. So, the interface is good.

Now, it has been 3 hours struggling to make my P777 detected with PC. It simply would not get hooked up with my HP notebook with XP Home OS (bought in 2005) - with a warning, saying, 'not compatible.' This is the first problem.

So, I am raising this question to other users: does anybody know how to fix this issue: USB Port- unknown device? I repeatedly installed file manager but my only guess is that the driver is not included or cannot be installed. And, I cannot test IR connectivity, either.

Secondly, Samsung website does not support P777 at all. It is noteven listed in samsungusa.com. Instead, type samsungtelecom.com to find other mobile products. But still I cannot find any useful info. or support from the company websites for this model, P777.

Thirdly, wirefly.com, cingular.com, Cnet.com all said it comes with a speaker, but, IT DOES NOT!!! For the worse,the call volume with other Cingular users were not impressiveeither. And, I live in a city with no high-rises.

So, my verdict based on my first impression is that it is "full house" with no basic function perfected. No manufactur's Support, Installation problems, NO Speaker, poor call sound volume... Video/Pic qualityis still that of a poor webcam. I seriously start to ask myself, do I really need this gadget being troubled this much already?

Before you buy this phone, make sure all these problems I have experieced in the first several hours are fixedor wait for a updated version.

I might return mine pretty soon if I cannot have it recognized with my laptop. Or, I will update my review if I resolve all these issues.

A Lot of Punch in a Little Package
If you are looking for a new device on the forefront of multimedia capibilities, then this phone should definately be put under consideration.

The screen, while certainly not as big as the likes of the Sony-Ericsson S710a, is large enough, and the 262k colors displayed really show off the imaging capabilities of this phone.The camera is a 1.3 megapixel, and while there seems to be a slight bit of unexpected grain in the photos, the overall quality is superb.The camcorder really shines--the image quality is great and the sound is top-notch--the best I've ever heard on a videophone.

The MP3 player sounds pretty good; you're not going to pitch your iPod, but the quality is nice for someone who wants to consolidate devices.The provided headphones are a bit of a pain though, hopefully Samsung will come out with a more comfortable version of them.I really had no problem using the Easy Studio File Transfer Software--it's pretty easy to use.Wireless internet downloads are fairly fast using the GPRS network--I can only imagine what it's like with EDGE.

The device has a pretty robust 100 MB of internal memory--plenty for songs, pictures, and video.While some the option for some addition removaable memory like a Memory Duo or FlashCard would've been nice, the average user probably wouldn't need it.

The phone itself has great sound quality--I can hear those on the other end of the line loud and clear and vice versa.Any problems with the service would most likely be that of the network and not with the device.

Probably my own real nitpick with the phone is the size.It's a pretty small thing--not exactly like, say, a candy bar style phone, but it's pretty petite.The numeric buttons are tiny and crammed together.If you have big hands, it's something to think about.

Other than that little problem, I really recommend this phone.If you're looking for a phone crammed with multimedia capabilities and you have a little money to spend--consider this device.

Best Phone I've Ever Used
If you're looking to unshackle yourself from carrying a mobile phone and PDA and don't want to replace them with a brick, then this is your phone.I've been using the phone for about a year and love using the calendaring, email, contacts and tasks that make this phone so functional.

Synchronizing with my PC is as easy as putting the phone into the included USB cradle -- Immediately all my contact, calendar and task information is synch'd.Using Verizon Wireless' Mobile Synch service, my e-mail is delivered directly to my phone in addition to my desktop PC.I can easily reply to e-mail by recording a .wav file that gets attached to the e-mail message and sent to the recipient without ever having to type a letter.

Microsoft's ActiveSync software makes storing documents, spreadsheets, even .pdf files easy and convenient.There are many third party software programs that are also available for the SmartPhone 2003 platform adding to the phones productivity.

Reception and clarity is better than any other phone I've used.One handed operation is simple and part of my everyday use.Turning on silent mode is done with just three key strokes.My advice is that you not waste anytime with the standard battery, but upgrade to the extended battery at the outset.I get two full days worth of usage -- on average -- using the extended battery.

The iPaq and Treo type phones have great features as well, but I don't want to have to carry around something that big and clunky.I love my i600.

I love this phone
I like the small size of this pda phone.I use Microsoft software all the time so it only made sense to get a pda phone that works off of the same platform.I used to have a cell phone and a sony clie pda.It was annoying carrying both around.I sold my clie and upgraded my cellphone with Verizon.It is definitely worth the money.

Poor design means many lost calls
Good concept, but so many problems. For example - if you are on a call, it is nearly impossible to pick up another or to put the person you are talking to on hold; when you open the shell to answer a call, if you so much as touch the buttons on the side of the phone (and it is nearly impossible not to), you won't be able to pick up the call. I am unable to pick up approximately 30% of all of my incoming calls and that is simply unacceptable - and I know it is not a problem handset because they have replaced it once and other people I know with it have the same complaints. A total waste of money.

WOW- what a phone.....
Being in sales, I'm one of the few damned to spend eternity on a cell phone. I'm a certified road warrior. In the past 5 months I've owned a total of 5 cell phones. the v600 from motorola, a few nokias, heck I even tried the N-Gage to entertain myself in the airports. So I am very demanding when it comes to phones. Most importantly, I want a phone that's a good phone.

The i600 blew me away. It continues to blow me away. the microsoft OS is perfect, it sychs with Outlook, and lotus notes via intellisynch software. It keeps scads of contacts, and has an option slot for the SD Memory cards.

If you;ve used an ipaq, or a CE based PDA and liked it, you'll love this phone. Best of all the phone comes with the important things. A spare extended battery, and a charging docking station that lets you charge not only the phone but the spare battery also.

Very well thought out phone, with function, and performance in mind. You cannot go wrong with this one.

Good if you want a phone w/ pda functionality
I initially bought the treo 600.But, I returned it to Verizon after a week because I couldnt get used to the form factor (In my opinion, the treo's ridiculous tiny buttons are a pain, and I am not a fan of devices that require use of a stylus).

The Samsung seems to be a phone that has added features of a pda and NOT a pda that has added features of a phone.I think this is the primary reason I like it so much more than the treo.

I had zero problems syncing with MS Outlook on my laptop when I used the cable.I had to monkey around a little to get the wireless IR sync to work, but eventually figured it out and it works BEAUTIFULLY!I have been waiting a long time for a PHONE (not a PDA) that can by easily sync'd with Outlook for calendar and contacts.This phone does that.I dont plan to sync e-mail with this phone at the time, but I understand that can be done also.This phone solves my most critical need - to have my updated calendar and contacts while I am out of the office.I also like the fact that the MS Windows Mobile O/S is intuitive and very easy to use.Overall, I am happy with the phone.

Cons - Expensive, does not include a camera (doesnt bother me too much, but it seems that it should at this price), a bit slow to "boot-up", internet performance is not as good as my 18 month-old LG from Verizon, small and poorly lit secondary lcd display, the phone needs a simple, hard-plastic belt holster (I'm not a huge fan of the bulky leather carrying case). ... Design
The X427M sports a slim, sleek clamshell design with a large 128 x 160 color display with 65,000 colors. A stub antenna is placed on the top right side of the unit. Up and down buttons for volume control are placed on the left side. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad. There's a standard jack on the top of the unit to accept universal hands-free headsets, while the phone's charging and data ports are placed on the bottom of the unit.

Calling Features
The X427M features 40-chord polyphonic ringtones, and in addition to the built-in ringers you can download more from Cingular's MEdia service. A vibrate alert silently notifies you of incoming calls when you want to be discreet. The phone's internal memory lets you create an internal phone book of 500 alphanumeric entries. Caller ID, call forwarding, call waiting, three-way calling and other standard features help you more efficiently handle your phone conversations.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
The X427M has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging and Internet connectivity. The phone features support for AOL Instant Messenger (Cingular messaging charges apply), and there's also a built-in web browser for MEdia downloads and mobile web browsing. Cingular's MEdia service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. Traditional text messaging, as well as picture and sound messaging are also supported by the phone. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

The phone supports the GPRS wireless data protocol, meaning that when used with a Cingular data plan and the phone's data port, the X427M can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the X427M including a calculator with currency converter, an alarm, a to-do list, and a calendar.

Avoid at all cost
This phone lasted two months before it the horrible reception forced me to get a new phone. What can I say cingular costs far too much for the terrible service.

DO NOT GET THIS PHONE

I think this phone is quality.I like it.
I don't like the fact that it doesn't have a speaker phone or voice dialing, but it's a good little phone and I wouldn't change it.

Now I know why it was FREE!
This phone was great to start off with. But after about 3 1/2 months the phone started to drop calls every so often. Now 1 month later it is dropping calls very frequently. Sometimes with five bars the call just dissconects. I know it's not Cingular the Motorola v551 in the same exact spot is still crystal clear. Do your self a favor stay away from the x427m. If you buy Cingular try to get the v551 from www.cellularchoices.com and you will get a great quality phone for free! (P.S.-This phone shouldnt even have 1 star)

Great starter phone
I got this phone for my daughter as an added line on family plan(free from Cingular, because I bought the Motorola V551 from Amazon as the main phone line), and it is perfect for her use(she is 15.) Seems solid, very very lightweight, nice bright screen, good sound, and better signal than my motorola! The battery life is EXCELLANT! My motorola burns out before a day is over, hers goes for days. However, very litte features, which is ok for someone like her. No camera of course, but she didnt want one. Not very customizable. Cant change what is assigned to the buttons(like I can on my phone) and I hate how the middle and the right arrow buttons connect to media or the internet. I put an internet block on her phone from Cingular(customer service), but she was still able to access the media mall and was browsing ringtones before I realized, and made her stop! The data transfer costs!Comes with a few games, mine had one demo game. More wallpaper choices than mine as well. Cant view who's calling or the time from outside of phone when closed. We set the option to not answer when opened, so we arent answering calls we dont know who it is first. All in all, pretty nifty phone, simple, easy to use, one touch to write a text message, and other simple menu features.Buttons are flat, as are mine, but if looking at it(to type text message) not a problem, but if in a prompt command on a call, have to move it from ear to see what numbers I am pressing. All accessories are cheaper here at Amazon versus anywhere else.

Good, basic phone - missing some helpful features
I got this phone as a replacement for my venerable and trusty Siemens S46. I'll comment solely on -the phone- and not on the service (which has been fine).

Good points:
- Fantastic screen
- Good to excellent reception
- Fairly simple menu navigation* (note caveats below)
- Included applications, media, games, etc. are high quality
- Very thin and light, even with battery
- Excellent battery life (5-7 days on standby)

Bad points:
- The button configuration on this phone is very strange - maybe this is just due to the Cingular configuration, but I keep thinking the largest button (with the Cingular logo) should be "Dial" by default, when instead it is inexplicably mapped to flip over to GPRS mode.
- The phonebook lookup is -awful-.
- There is no copy to/from SIM card feature. This means that if you want to, say, copy phonebook entries without buying the USB cable, you have to enter them by hand.
- The headset jack is very hard to open and suffers from a loose connection and static.
- The keys have no raised dots to center yourself without looking at the phone - while hard to describe, this makes it very hard to dial the phone with one hand, something which I have been able to easily do with most other phones. ... Read more

Samsung's P735 is one of a new breed of cameraphones.Not only does it offer a megapixel camera, but it also has a novel form factor that differentiates it from everything else on the market.It opens up to reveal a large display, but its hinge does more than just open and close.By twisting and turning the top half of the phone, the P735 can be put into a 'L' shape configuration, or actually be flipped around completely so that the main display is on the outside of the phone.This is useful for taking photos.

Taking photos is a snap when you twist and turn the main display to the outside of the phone.

The P735 is a triband GSM phone that works on T-Mobile USA's 1900Mhz network and the 900Mhz and 1800Mhz GSM networks found in most other parts of the world, meaning it will work on your European vacation.It weighs 4.5 ounces, and is 3.6" x 1.73" x 0.95" in size, which is a bit large.Included in that package is a battery that was good for over 6.5 hours of talk time in my tests - even though Samsung claims only 4 hours.

The P735's numeric keypad has a nice feel, but has unusual positioning of the its two softkeys and dedicated camera button: the camera button is above the softkeys, which means that you often hit the camera button instead of the right softkey.The P735 has a nice directional controller, or d-pad, but it is raised quite a bit from the level of the keypad.Everything is very usable; it just isn't optimal.

But one buys a P735 for the multimedia capabilities.The megapixel camera takes a decent photograph for a cell phone.Outdoors shots are a bit blue in color, but reasonable.Indoor shots are much better.The camera offers resolutions ranging from MMS to full 1024x864.Normally the P735 shoots photos in a vertical portrait format, but if you twist the phone's hinge into the 'L' configuration, it will automatically adjust the camera to records photos in landscape format.

The RS-MMC memory card slot supports up to 512MB cards.

The P735's very bright and ultra-crisp 262k TFT main display features 176x144 resolution.

The P735 has a nice 262k color TFT display with a 176x144 resolution.It is very bright, and very crisp, and large enough to get the job done.The external 65k color sub-display is an ultra-bright OLED type that you could read from across the room in the dark - it's that sharp.Both displays are used by the Picture Caller ID system so you can see a photo of who is calling you.

While the P735 doesn't support email, except through T-Zones, it does have nice MMS and SMS editors.It also comes with a nice suite of 3D games, including the 3D first-person flying robot game Metalion.New games, including Java based games, can be bought from T-Mobile or found elsewhere on the Internet.

The Samsung SGH-P735 is a good solid multimedia phone.Not only can it take a nice picture, but it has looks that will turn heads and start conversations.Business users will miss voice dialing and a speakerphone, but for the casual user the P735 will offer enough fun for those things to be overlooked.

Great phone with NO SUPPORT!
This is a great phone for someone who doesn't care for new games. Although the phone has been in the market for nearly a year, there are no games available for it through tmobile besides the few that come with the phone. Don't get me wrong, I love the games, but I'd also love to play Tetris which has yet to appear at the tmobile site.

Here are the more intriguing features.

MP3 PLAYER
The MP3 player is mediocra at best. The nice thing about it is that it pauses when you have an incoming call and allows you to resume right where you left off. The bad part is that you can't fast forward. Many of you may be saying, "It's a phone, what do you expect?" But the truth is that it's built-in video player that does allow for rewinding and fast fowarding so that aspect is a disappointment.

Another HUGE disappointment is that you can't use your stored MP3's as ring tones. Again, the phone allows you to transfer videos from the memory card (RS MMC) to the phones memory and save them as your wallpaper (yes i mean video wallpapers) So again, this is somewhat of a let down since mp3's aren't nearly as complicated (or as large) as videos. Also, MP3's need to be encoded at over 128kbps. I think I encode them at 196kbps. Whenever I tried to go lower, the phone wouldn't recognize them as valid MP3 files.

ADVANCED VIDEO CAPABILITIES
Now for the clincher. Using simple media conversation tools like psp video 9, you can watch music videos and movies on your phone in .MP4 format! I purchased a 512MB RS MMC stick for $65 in December and use it to store videos and music that I enjoy everywhere such as on walks around town and on the bus or train. For those of you that love subtitles, they'll still be legable on the phones screen.

HEADSET
Another saddening fact is that it doesn't include a headphone jack. But it makes sense since headphones don't have buttons that allow you to answer calls so this can be overlooked. It's also comfortable, stay in place and are discrete with its unique design.

CAMERA = 1.1 MEGAPIXEL, BEST OUT
The camera is decent but its still the best US camera phones have to offer. The lack of a built-in flash makes it useless in poorly lite homes or at night.

BUMMER?
Hm, another thing that I noticed some people may miss is that the battery status bar stays idle while charging. I personally don't mind since the adapter itself has a status light (red for still charging, green for go time) so who cares right?

SUMMARY
So it's a media center in your pocket. A 512MB stick can probably hold a single movie, 3-4 20+ min episodes, or tons of songs and pictures. (You can throw your own pictures in there as well). Hope you found this helpful!

The BEST Phone!
I LOVE this phone, I have been a longtime devotee of Samsung and this phone just rings my bell.Swivel feature best for using the mp3 player and just plain showing off.Great reception and battery life is what I would expect.

Tip for those purchasing new mobile phones:Condition your battery!This will greatly extend the life of your battery (in between charges and replacements).
Step 1:The first time your charge it, charge for 12 full hours for lithium ion battery (most common these days).
Step 2: Let it die COMPLETELY and then charge it FULLY again.
Step 3:Repeat step 2 one to two more times.

Always try to let your battery come as close to depleting as possible before recharging, this will extend the life of your battery as far as replacement.Your battery's longevity is based on "cycles," from one charge to the next.The more times you charge the battery, the sooner it will need to be replaced.Also, avoid using car chargers whenever possible, these are a "rush" charge that do not last as long (in terms of recharging) as traditional wall "trickle" charges.

battery life
Did anybody else notice that the batter life is short?It only lasts me about 32 hrs and I don't even use the phone that often.Take two pics and talk for about 10 minutes and battery life is drained.

In order to play mp3 files you need to transfer files to your RS MMC but make sure less than 20 characters on name of mp3 track (including spaces letter or number) sam p735 will not read items fromMMC if it has more than 20 characters .also make sure these are mp3 not real audio or wmf sound format.only reads mp3 sound format .u can rename mp3 sound file b4 transfering to multimedia card .make sure once mmc card inside phone u select the mmc location . that will relsolve your issue .also u can download videos and compress it with (pvauthor) program and copy to mmc card and play on your handset
