1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality !!
I have had the Sanyo 8100 phone from Sprint for about 14 months. After my phone got to be about a year old, it's been slowly breaking despite much care on my part.I have not dropped the phone or done anything else to warrant all the damage. The hinge to flip open the phone has completely broken -first just one side broke and pretty soon the entire thing broke. Then just yesterday the display completely stopped working as well.According to Sprint, I am not eligible for a new phone for another 3-4 months so now I am going to be forced to spend about $200 just to get a new phone that will probably just break after a year. I'm completely dissatisfied. This is the first phone I've had that has been so cheaply made.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Phone W/Weak Battery
This is my second 8100 (1st one died as I left it in the washer) but to this date, this is the best Sprint PCS phone that I have used. This was recommended to me by the salesman at the Sprint store over a year ago. Here is the quick list:
Pros:
1)Signal:Rarely do I ever experience any drop calls with this phone compared to my last 2 Samsungs.
2)Display:Very clear and vibrant.
3)Quality:As soon as you pick up the phone you feel the quality that it is made.It does not have the Cheap feel on some of the Nokia and Samsung phones. My first one was made in Japan and this one is from Malaysia.Sanyo just makes quality phones.

Dislikes
1)Battery Life:The standard battery is weak.It rarely lasted more than 2 days when it was brand new and now its about 1 day for me.And I have 2 batteries.I purchased an extended battery on Ebay for about $10 and it works great.
2) Poor camera under low light:But what do you expect with a cell phone right?

Overall, its a nice phone I only wish Sprint would carry more Sanyos and Motorolas and stop carrying the terrible Nokias and Samsungs.

4-0 out of 5 stars I love this Phone, Just one small issue...
Almost all that needs to be said has already. Let me just say that I love this phone. Of all the cells I've owned, this Sanyo has the best reception, and quality of any of them. Of those were 2 Nokia, and one Keyocera. The only issue I have with it, is in low light situations, (read...night-time...) the number keypad is very low lit, and extremely hard to see. This certianly doesn't take away from the greatness of the phone, just a small irritation during 8 hours of the 24 in a day.

1-0 out of 5 stars This phone SUCKS!!!!!!!!
I live 20 minutes outside of San Francisco, my boyfriend and several other of my friends have not been able to get a hold of me by my cell phone. I have had so many dropped calls and sprint over charges for going over your minutes. I recommend you do not buy this phone or sign-up with Sprint.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally a Phone I haven't had a problem with!
I went through about 5 phones within a 4 month period always some kind of problem. Until I upgraded to the Sanyo 8100 which Im shocked to have now had it for longer than a year. I could have sworn it would just had lasted me about 6 months. So I rate this Sprint phone with 5 stars and I plan on staying with it till it dies or just stay in the Sanyo family. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Okay little phone for the price
I like my little Nokia PM. When I went to buy it I just wanted the cheapest phone that was a little better than my LG I was using. I had my land phone cut off because people only call on my cell phone. I was going to get the plain Nokia but this one was on sale for just 10.00 more. My college age kid has the Sanyo 8200 and I won't lie her camera is fantastic because it zooms and has a flash but for an extra 10.00 I always have a camera handy and most of my pics have come out pretty decent. They always look better once they are on my PC. I haven't used the radio on the phone. I didn't get it for that purpose but I have the headset. Sprint's been decent to me and I got this in the Sprint store so for the price it is a good deal. Cell phones are just so expensive now due to all of the gadgets. This is a good basic phone. Don't expect expensive phone reception or expensive phone camera options when you are paying the bare minimum for a cell phone. I give it an A.It serves my purpose. Has my phone book in it and I don't lose calls like I did on my old LG phone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cute But Useless
I have had 2 of these phones within in a 2 month period and I just went to the sprint store so that they can order me another. The phone is cute but it doesn't hold a charge and even with good frequency it manages to still cut my calls.
The speakerphone option SUCKS! you can't hear anything and it always sounds like theres a fuzzy echo in the back ground and it's also like that when I'm using the handset. They should have left it without a camera it would at least been 1 less thing for people who own this phone to complain about. Other phones have the option of zooming in, the kind of flash that the phone has and the sounds it makes when you take the picture, Well no none of that and on top of that the pictures are terrible in good lighting or not in good lighting, The color always looks weird. Also you can't assign ringers to everyone that is in your phone book it's one ringtone for everything and everyone.I love the phone cause it's cute but I can't stand the phone because it doesn't do none of the things that all my other phones use to do. It has a radio but there's a special kind of headset that you use and that's all good and well but it's pointless when you can't enjoy what you bought it for in the first place. Also the web option is extremely slow and when you log off the internet you have to shut your phone off and turn it back on so that you can make a phone call cause other wise you won't be able to until like a 5 minute or so wait, Why? I don't know. DON'T BUY THIS PHONE YOU WILL BE EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED, LOOKS ARE DECEIVING!!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Nokia has made better ones in the past
I having been using Nokia brand phones for close to 10 years now.I have tried Ericssons, Panasonics, Samsungs, etc... and I still prefer Nokias to all of them. For starters, the menu design is great for the technically inept or for older folks who just want the basics. My favorite Nokia models were the 6160, 6162, and 5160. Those models ran off of a TDMA platform with AT&T as the service provider and this one is CDMA.This particular model is pretty basic. I hate flip phones so this was one of a few options available to me.The display is pretty good - clear graphics and color.I'm not a big fan of the keypad layout - it dips in the middle and I prefer it flat.I do like the fact that it is backlighted though.Talktime and standby time are plentiful enough for the standard user.Hands free options for this model stink.I haven't found one that I like yet.In lieu of a decent headset I've been using the speakerphone option which works pretty good.I don't need the camera phone and could do without it but if you are into stuff like that then you should invest in a case for the phone otherwise in less than a year your viewfinder will get scratched up due to its terrible location. Additionally, I prefer the keylock function on older models. Used to be that you could just hold down the endkey and it would lock. This model requires you to press the menu * option. If you are looking for very basic gear on the inexpesive side this is the phone way to go.

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best phone in the market
camera. speaker phone. stereo FM radio. two places you can plug in headsets. can store 400 phone numbers. email, internet. a lot more...

Don't even listening to other viewers' words.Go do your own research.

it gets great signals.I had a samsung, i will not waste my money on that brand.Made in Korea, do they make good stuff?Go figure.Nokia company is from enrope. If you go to asia and europe, the majority of the cell phones you will see on the street is Nokia.Only stupid "Bush controled" the country use damn samsung and LG etc.

Take a look at those who gave bad reviews, they are from the midwest, southern states.Freaking farmers and corn eater.Just like those who voted for Bush.

wake up "brainwashed bush controled" people. Get out side the box.

3-0 out of 5 stars Hissssss & Camera is just name sake!
Pros:

Decent battery life
You can set profiles and each profile having a diffrent setting forringer, screensaver etc
You can group your contacts as VIP,Family etc and have the phone ring only when it is a call from family ..

Cons:

There is always a constant hiss on the speaker.( i am comparing this to my sanyo)
Squeaky noise- looks like something is going to fall off.. whenever you press a button you hear the sqeak!
Camera is absolutely useless!.. Minimal resolution
Speakerphone is not loud.I would want to use a speakerphone when i drive, This is not loud enough for the road noise. I can hardlyhear anyone ( I live in NJ .. so you know that i would drive slow!) ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars First and last time I buy a Nokia...
This going to be one long story....

I bought this phone in July 04, and started having problems with it by Thanksgiving. It stopped charging.First I thought it was the charger, but tried it with another charger, did not work.Tried the charger with another phone, it worked.Turns out the "charging port is defective."Before I sent it for repair/replacement, it started working again. The trick was you have to slide in the charger's pin at a certain angle.Oh well, being as lazy as I am, I continued to use it that way.

Then sometime around January, I realized I was missing calls because the phone was choosing not to ring sometimes! No, the ringer is not turned off or anything; it just does not ring.

Shortly after that, the backlight on one side of the keyboard when flipped open stopped lighting up.Half the keys are not visible in dark.

To top all off, when battery is almost empty, and I slide the charger pin in at a special angle, and the phone recognizes the charger, I started occasionally seeing the "Battery Full" message on the screen. It's got a mind of its own, will not charge when does not feel like it.

I started asking around, and realized the "Battery Full" problem was actually common.

My carrier is (was) ATT, and they have this replacement guarantee, which I tried to benefit from. They ask questions to figure out if the problems are because of misuse.Yes, I dropped it, but not in water, not on concrete.Yes, there are scratches on it, but I put it in my purse along with my keys and stuff, sure it's going to get scratched. It does look used, but not abused or over-used.So ATT tells me, they'll send me a brand new replacement, and they'll inspect the faulty one that I return to them.If they inspect and decide it is a usage problem, then they're going to bill me for the full price of the phonewhich at the time $400.Thank you, but NO thank you.Even if it really is my fault the phone has all these problems and I am going to end up paying for a new phone, I'd rather not pay $400, and definitely not for the same Nokia.

I've used cell phones from other manufacturers. My first-ever was an Ericsson that I used for 5 years with absolutely no issues (other than, of course, battery change) until it was too bulky and unfashionable to carry around.I figure it's not my usage, but the phone's quality that's the problem.

Anywayssss, I sent the phone to Nokia's own repair center to get fixed. That was exactly 21 days ago.Status?Still waiting for parts! And no idea how much longer I will wait.

Moral of the story, too many problems in too short a time -> low quality product

Too slow response to repair -> not good customer service

Unhappy customer -> never-to-buy-another-Nokia customer

5-0 out of 5 stars Gr8 phone...as far as its intended functionality
This is an awesome phone.....But its not for everyone....The primary users should be those who are messaging addicts...Do not buy it for its camera feature

4-0 out of 5 stars Finally a phone that not a toy.
For some reason cell phone makers keep moving into making more phones that are more like toys. Musical ringers and games couldn't matter more to me.I recenty got this phone and have phone i really like.A couple of feature that I really enjoy are:

1.Its easy to read the text on the screen. And in some applications you can even adjust the text size.

2.Fast user input.I'm use to typing on text messages on a normal keypad, but the option of opening up a qwerty keypad is a nice change.

3.Access to my POP email. This was the selling feature for me.The phone has an application that I can set to download email from my business account directly to the phone. This is much better then using the browser.

4.Speaking of browser, it has a decent one, but the EGPRS data transfer is the best part.Very fast.

5.Bluetooth Connectivity.I can backup my contacts, notes, pictures, etc right to my PC.And if you have Outlook, you can have a full sync to your phone.(If you have Outlook Express like me, you can only sync your contact list.Still good enough.)And i'm looking forward to using it with a headset soon.

6.It has normal ringers.I know thats not a big thing nowdays, but I like my phone to sound like a phone.I'll totally miss it if its some musical melody or song (and it comes with a few musical ringers if you must have one. They don't sound half bad and you can download more.

7.Sound quality is great.People can clearly here me.And the speaker phone works well, even in the car.

The reason i'm giving it 4 stars is because there are a few areas Nokia could have improved on.The battery life on the phone runs about 3 days on a normal charge. Its not that bad a headache, but I've used a few 6 day battery life phones. Also, while the screen color and has some tight pixels, its also has a slow refresh. And the camera quality is very low.I didn't get it for the camera, but I've seen much better quality on other phones.

Overall this is a phone that I am very pleased with and it may be replacing my palm soon as I can more comfortable with it.I would suggest this phone to anyone who likes to have access to their email has a good serious business phone.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nokia really missed out with this phone
This phone has a large array of features that you think would be useful. If you are wanting a camera phone...go somewhere else..liek the lg1400...I love Nokia...but this phone takes small tiny pictures...even for a camera phone...and dont even dare think about shaking any..lol....It is a novelty cam at best...other cams offer twice the resolution...The screen is small and not too sharp....and it does NOT have a speakerphone...it is called a loudspeaker...Cingular was quick to point that out to me. It is no where close to what you hear motorolas volume at. Especially the nextels ..which can be too loud....I find myslef having to put it on loudspeaker if I am in a noisy place and holding it up to my ear....the volume just isnt too great overall...or maybe I am just going deaf at 26. It is a cute and small phone...nice conveniant size...and the keyboard is surprisingly easy to type on...I have enjoyed that part of the phone a lot..The battery life is nothing like what amazon reports it at....so dont get your hopes up there...Nokia is taking a step in the right direction with this phone...and they have a lot of useful orginizational tools here...just treat it as a mid grade phone that introduces you to the nicer things and you will be fine. These newer phones are not as sturdy as the old 5100s and such so be careful...:)...

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome phone!
This phone is great because:
1.It has a QWERTY keyboard.
2.There is a camera.
3.You don't have to press numbers to write a message.
4.It includes the phone, charger, battery, and headsets.
5.You can download gmes, applications ,and ringtones.
6.The phone has a videorecorder that records a while.
7.The phone has a recorder also.
8.It is very easy is to send a message because it is made for messaging.
9.This phone is great! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars good phone
i do not own this phone but my best friend does and i use it alllll the time. the big prb. is that she has a LOT of droped calls, i will be talking to her and then she will not be there!! It gets really anoying! We take pics of EVERYTHING, the camera is really good, does not have a light, witch is bad sometimes because u can not take pics in low light. Allso if u move to fast after taking the pic it will show up dif.,like when you are loking at it in the pic menu and then close up on it it is two dif. pics. My friend has had to take her phone to get fixed a lot because the pic ID was not working(it still is not working). But besides the droped calls and the problems with the camera it is a great phone!!

5-0 out of 5 stars ALWAYS RELIABLE
I have owned this phone for about a year now and have never had any trouble with it as described by some of the other owners. I might add that I take very good care of everything I own. I have never dropped it or otherwise mistreated it. I recently purchased a V3 simply because I like the larger width, but the problem with the V3 is that there is no "Fast Forward" device that is designed to use with it. The V400 uses the "Fast Forward" which saves me a ton of cell minutes by forwarding my cell to my home phone number. I would really love to have this feature for the V3, but so far, I have been unable to do so. I still think in the long run, the V400 will outlast and outperform the V3, so I'm keeping it as a backup. It has never let me down and is sturdy to boot!

1-0 out of 5 stars Phone is good until earpiece dies
I have had this phone for about ~1 year. Recently I have only barely been able to hear the person I am talking to on the phone. At first I attributed this to maybe a bad connection, but then I found out a friend was having similar problems.I looked on the internet and found people were having similar problems. This phone is WORTHLESS, it can have all the features in the world but if you cant hear the person you are talking to what is the point.

I recommend not buying this phone. If you are looking to buy another motorola I would check to make sure that it doesnt have similar earpiece problems.

4-0 out of 5 stars Price too high here, phone OK
I really like my phone. I've had it for nearly a year. Well anyway, I've had 3 of them, that is. The first one decided that it suddenly wanted to work on speakerphone only so the girls in the dorm nextdoor could hear my mom crystal clear. So I called Cingular for a replacement and got it. Wretched machine, it died when it said fully charged 2 days after I got it. So I called them up yet again for another replacement. The sales rep. was rather bewildered but I did infact send it off. In fact, as an apology of sorts, they sent it on priority mail with no extra charge to me, so I got it the next day rather than in a week and a half. I'm hooked on Cingular's service and this new phone also has a year warranty for any manufacturing glitches.

That being said, this third one is working like a charm. The reception is pretty good and I love the features. Oooo, better yet, I realized that it also works in select areas of Mexico so when I go there with my church, Mom can call me w/o having to risk getting someone who doesn't speak English. (...)

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Phone
my husband had not one, but two of these phones in less than a year and they were both lemons! The first one he had, the person on the other end could not hear you talking at all - it was like no one was there! The phone was brand new! He had it replaced with the same phone and this one you could not hear anything on it!He finally sent it back and just got a totally different brand of phone entirely.I don't know if we just got two bad phones or if this phone is just not a good phone.Either way, we'll never have another one!!! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars A very good phone, if growing very outdated
This is a solid phone all around. It doesn't have a color screen, it doesn't have a camera, it doesn't have wireless bluetooth technology or the hottest games around, but what it does do it does very well.It has very good audio quality and good singal strength. It is all around a great phone, but does little else but act as a great phone. For someone who doesn't need lots of fancy features and just wants to be able to make calls, this is a good deal.

4-0 out of 5 stars good phone
this is a good phone. it is lightweight and compact, has 5 built-in games, a voice memo recorder, and voice activated dialing & commands. you can download up to 20 ring tones, store up to 500 contacts with up to 5 numbers and 4 text entries per contact in the phonebook. you can also stay connected with up to 5.2 hours of talk time and up to 376 hours of standby time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid Phone
My first digital phone was a Motorola DPC-950 in 1996

I've had this phone for over a year (two?) and have to say it is well made. I've dropped this thing on the floor, the road, the desk, probably more than 30 times

It has no color display, no fancy ringtones. But it DOES have an external antenna jack, and combined with a little magnetic mount 10 inch tall cell phone antenna on my car and a cable ran through the trunk I love this thing on road trips. Coverage in the boonies with the antenna ($40) is superb.

It ain't fancy, but if what you want is a phone that makes and receives calls this is a good phone. It is TDMA.

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon is great.. phone is great, just say away from AT&T
WARNING: AT&T representatives ("Dawn: R361" and "Max: N360") themselves said during my troubleshooting (as detailed below) that I should NOT have bought through Amazon, and that they have received a barrage of complaints from Amazon buyers!I still really like Amazon, but they're integration with AT&T is non existent.People should not have to wait 2-3 days for service after they receive the phone.Buy the same phone on Amazon, but a different carrier.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest sound and Coverage in a Cell Phone
I love this phone. It is sturdy, won't break or come apart if dropped, is very feature rich for the business or home user.
I never have experienced an inability to get service even in the remote mountains of Colorado, and the fields of Kansas and Texas when I travel.Crystal clear reception, when my friends newer, next generation phones don't work, I hand them mine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Music Player & Overall Good Phone
I swapped out a Motorola MPx200 (which I fried) for a Nokia 3300 initially because of the low price compared to other phones with similar features. You do get a lot of "bang for the buck" with this phone.

The selling point on the 3300 is the music player. It plays MP3 files and "raw" (not MPEG-4 encoded) AAC files.Because it does not support the MPEG-4 compression, you're better of with using MP3, as the raw AAC files at the same bitrate are acutally larger in size with no noticeable difference in quality. The music player is among the best I've listened to (it actually has some BASS output) with the provided stereo headset; you can also listen to it with the single-ear (mono) earpiece and the player knows the difference and switches from stereo to mono accordingly. You can also listen to either the music player or FM radio using the loudspeaker on the phone, but to listen to the FM radio you still have to keep the headset connected, as it utilizes the headset wire as an FM antenna.I have encountered an issue where the music player will arbitrarily change tracks, or the FM radio will spontaneously kick over to another station preset, but it could be from accidental keypresses on the case that I have the phone in.

This phone also includes a recorder and a special audio cable (3.5mm standard plug on both ends) for connecting an external CD player or other equipment to record from to the MMC card (64MB) supplied with the phone. The phone records 64Kbps, 32KHz "raw" AAC format (64MB = about 2 hours of audio), which is fine if you are recording from the radio or voice but not the greatest if flawless quality is your preference from your CDs.The Nokia Audio Manager 3.1 software supplied with the phone is clunky and stalls frequently; I highly recommend using RealPlayer 10 with the Nokia Mobile Device plug-in (which also handles conversion to MP3 for you); RealOne Player with the plug-in is also included on the CD that comes with the phone. If you have a separate MMC reader, you can read the cards in that rather than in the phone to speed up transfers.

The phone itself is a decent quality phone, as with most Nokia handsets. However, if you don't want to look like a space alien talking on it, you'll find yourself using the earpiece almost always (otherwise, you hold the narrow back side of the phone to your face to talk; which looks tacky and feels awkward). The full keyboard on the US "B" model is excellent for text messaging and e-mail--*IF* you have light to see it with (only the call, hang-up, and directional buttons light up, which means you can't see the numbers or keyboard in the dark--major issue if you have to communicate in less-than-ideal lighting; keep a little mini flashlight with you).

The 3300 supports Java MIDP 1.0, which is wonderful. Most of the apps I used most frequently on my MPx200 I have found suitable Java alternatives for (MyCast Weather, Virca IRC client, EmailViewer e-mail client, and MapQuest Mobile for real-time directions are among some of the apps I use often). The built-in e-mail client is adequate, but forces you to download entire messages instead of just headers to see what you *really* want to read (downloading full messages can consume your GPRS bandwidth in a hurry if your e-mail box is big), so I use ReqWireless E-Mail viewer, which doesn't have that disadvantage.

Like all Series 40 Nokias, the Calendar is very basic with limited capability, but the Contacts database is robust.Which brings up another major issue with this phone: lack of PC Suite support. The data cable supplied with the phone only interfaces with the MMC card in the phone and not with the phone's interface itself, so if you need to synchronize via cable or use your cell phone as a modem, you'll be SOL on this device. It only supports synchronization over-the-air using SyncML with a SyncML-compliant server (again, a bandwidth hog if your contacts/calendar db is huge); Nexthaus does make a SyncML server to sync with Outlook, but any calendar items not supported by the 3300 get skipped so your calendar is always incomplete (Contacts come through great though).

Lastly, you would think that with this phone supporting the MMC card format that it would also support SecureDigital (SD).It does not, and MMC cards are becoming increasingly difficult to find as more vendors make the move to SD cards. The phone comes with a 64MB card, which is sufficient for most people, but if you like more than an hour's worth of MP3s, you'll want to look for a 128MB or 256MB MMC card.I will give it this much: there is a feature to backup and restore your phone's settings to/from the MMC card, which is a smart feature to use in case your phone should be accidentally reset.

Overall, I do enjoy this phone, especially the awesome music player and the java support.

1-0 out of 5 stars THIS PHONE IS NOT GREAT! IT'S GARBAGE
Save your money and look into a phone that's easier to use than this one. I initially liked this phone for its odd shape and exciting features, but now I regret my purchase altogether. I have Cingular, and the service has been pretty good. That's not the problem, but I realized that Nokia is second to Motorola when it comes to quality. I like the FM radio & MP3 features, but they come with massive flaws. You can't play the radio without the headsets in the phone which is bulky and annoying. I love listening the radio on my cell, and if you do too, then look into a phone that has radio hands-free headsets. If Nokia were to improve this phone and re-release it like they do with weak music cd's, then it would do better on the market. THE WORST PROBLEM I HAVE is with the keypad. I love the keypad, but I hate it! Full QWERTY keypad but it does not light up nor does it even glow in the dark. Don't even think you'll memorize the keys because you won't trust me! False advertising with the Express on Cases. Nokia said they would void my warranty if I were to change cases.
So, ladies and gentlemen, don't end up like me!!! I have two more years left in this contract and I hate this phone. I do get a lot of looks with it... but only if they knew how much I wished I had the ...Motorola V600...

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible service from AT&T
The phone is great but AT&T has to be the worst cell phone provider ever. There network has so many dead spots its not funny and not small ones either. I got better signal when i was roaming so what ever you do do not get at&t is a big disapointment!

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST PHONES EVER!
When I decided to buy my very first phone I wanted to get the best one I could buy.Looks and capabilities were a key factor in deciding which one.I was about to get a samsung but at cingular they try to sell you nokias because they have better reception.I picked the 3300 because it was an mp3 player, radio, cool design, and because I saw that alicia keys used one in one of her music videos.I have had it since January and ir hasn't failed me yet.One thing I would change is that they would sell holsters for it at cingular and interchangable plates.Other than that I highly recommend it.Put if you want something really small don't get it. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars a good phone, GREAT volume!
I really like this phone. It may be "unhip" according to some, but it's small enough to cart around in a pocket and it won't get you mocked either. Best of all, it gets good reception and after you adjust the speaker volume (must do it during a call, otherwise it adjusts ringer vol), it is LOUD!!! So loud it hurts my ear sometimes! Love it! Great for noisy situations. I got 100 free minutes through the refer_a_friend program and would be happy to explain how it works before you activate - just click on my name to email me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice little Access.
This is a good cell phone, if just want to talk, And not be Hip.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good for an year or less - below average
I am using this phone for the past one year and don't have anything good to say except that it picks-up signal in almost all the places with Verizonwireless provider.

The phone as such doesn't come with any extra feauters (like camera or mp3 player) and it is a very basic phone where you could save the phone number and the names. No speaker phone and the maximum volume is also not great.

The connector in the charger (the one that comes with the phone) is really bad, it doesnt make good contact with the phone and many times you will see the message "unable to charge". The advertisement claim longer talk time after each complete charging with my experience i could never talk more than 1.30hrs in one continous strech. It starts beeping with the message "low battery charge".The advertisement claims 240min of talk time whereas it actually give only 180 min.

After year use now it takes too much time to completely charge the phone, more than 4 hrs (my guess the battery is dying). And also the talk time is not 1.3hrs probably an hour or little less.I am struck with this phone as i have signed the contract with verizonwireless for two years.

Also transferring the address book from one phone to other phone is a big hazzle as again problem with the connector provided by the motorola doesnt fit properly on the phone.

Pros:
Good signal with verizonwireless provider

Cons:
Poor battery life
Less talk time
not a sleak one
no extra feauters and no speaker phone
Life time probably just an year

3-0 out of 5 stars this fone is ok
this fone is ok 4 people who dont want alotta extra stuff on their fone.it is an ok fone 4 makin calls cause not a 1 of my calls has EVER been dropped. on the other hand it is hard 2 see sometimes if u have no light or somethin like that...the graphics r bad and the display is dark and sometimes hard 2 see. it has a pretty good coverage range though and it can be used inside a building easily.the ringtones r good most of the time but be sure 2 put it on a loud ringtone if the place u r goin 2 is noisy cause it is sometimes hard 2 hear or u can put it on 1 of the like 4 different vibrate settings it has... otherwise it is a good fone

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone - Small, light, and versatile
I've had this phone for about two weeks now.

OK, I'm no phone guru.Previously, I've owned one phone - a Samsung flip-phone for four+ years. That was a great phone, but the hinges on the flip cover had started to break after so many years, and quite a few falls too I might add.

But, I can say the AudioVox is a great phone.Put it this way, three employees at the Cingular (ex-AT&T) store where I got it ALSO have one - so that's an endorsment from peope who ought to know what's good.

It's very small, very light and very cool!

It has:

- Microsoft "Smartphone" operating system.
- Camera - with tons of settings to alter the image
- Video Camera - ditto on the settings
- Ability to store 1GB of files (music, movies, whatever) on a Mini SD cards
- Bluetooth
- Infrared
- Ability to have e-mail PUSHED to the device - like a Blackberry -- but the "unlimited data" plan from Cingular is only $25 / month -- which is cheaper tan for a Blackberry.
- It took all my Outlook Contacts easily.Synching is a cinch!
- Outlook Calendar appointments can be entered on the phone or synched -- and when ytou are in aan Appointment, the phone automatically goes into "meeting mode" (vibrates, instead of ringing).Cool!
- You can surf the net
- Messenger
- Voice recorder
- Games
- Pocket MSN
- Explorer
- Windows media player 10 - which allows me to listen to tunes on my way to work (remember the 1GB of storage you can have?)
- tri-band that will work in Western Europe also!

The phone is a power miser considering what it's got going on. I charge battery every 2-3 days. When I just use it as a phone, I don't need to charge for 4 days.Right when I got the phone I went online and found a longer lasting battery that the standard one delivered -- but it's so economical on power, I don't think I'll need it!

Anyway, if you're looking to replace the phone you have, you might want to check out the AUDIOVOX SMT 5600.I paid $199 but I just saw it offered for free on a site that sells phones and services.

I switched from Sprint to Cingular, beacuse for my work I need a carrier that offers phones I can use both in the US and in Europe (and not a separate loner or rented phone) -- And I think only Cingular carries this little guy.

AUDIOVOX SMT 5600 - a feature-rich little phone!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best phone available.
The combination of intelligent features, bluetooth, video/audio and Windows Media Player 10 make this the best phone and certainly the best SmartPhone available. With the addition of a 512 MB MiniSD card the phone will hold 34 hours of video.

The only complaints are the rocker button is difficult to click.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Phone ever had
Iam yet to test more functions on the phone. Big screen and more features. Video quality is good.

5-0 out of 5 stars It rocks in everyway
This phone is really a look into the next gen convergence devices you will be seeing in the months to come. Speaker is loud, camera quality is good, gprs is strong, ATT reception in houston is as bad as most people say it is. The only (im being really picky) thing missing is a querty keyboard. However it is well compensated by the great nokia style (maybe even better) T9 typing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Its really that good but....
Let me first tell you that i have researched this phone high and low..

Yes, it is really as good as cheap as it sounds! It has everything....Camera, Bluetooth, IR, USB, Windows Mobile 2003....one GREAT advantage over its strong competitor Mpx 200 is...the miniSD goes in the back which to me is an advantage...who wants a memory card sticking out from the side > Mpx 220

frankly, theres nothing out at there at this price with so many features but let me tell you to keep the following things in mind which collectively made me return the phone.

1. This is a tri-band (forget what all the websites claim that this is quad-band, its not)
2. The phone is great but it is cheap plastic...within 3 days just moving it in and out of pockets scratched the screen with 3-4 scratches..i am very careful not to throw it around or slide it across surfaces but it is very susceptible to getting scratches
3. Im not sure why people complain about this but yes..it has an average quality 640x480 camera, to me this is an emergency snap device, not a carl zeiss quality camera
4. This is a problem with Windows Mobile, not this phone but ofcourse you have to live with the OS in the phone...the more apps you're running ..the slower the phone becomes since they're still in the memory...you have to constantly go to task manager and close them to free memory..just closing an app while using it DOES not close it...it just minimizes it
5. Finally, i absolutely hated the idea of putting in my calendar every day by pressing keys 3 times till i got my letter..if your PRIMARY purpose is data/email, you CANNOT live without a keyboard on the phone...

So far...i still have not found a sub $200 keyboard phone with comparable features of this phone...the hunt goes on :) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great cellphone
i had this cellphone for a year but then i got rid of it not because there was anything wrong with it but because it wasnt color which i really wanted to try out. that was the biggest mistake ever because tmobile has one of the best services out there i am now stuck with sprint which no one should get because it absolutly sucks

5-0 out of 5 stars I wish I still had it....
I recently traded in my 3390 for a Samsung x105. I got rid of it because the battery was dying and I wanted to try out some of the new technology. My Nokia, though 3 years older, compares quite favorably to my new one. I rarely missed a phone call due to the non-polyphonic ring tones. The sound normally stuck out so I could often hear it upstairs and over a blaring radio. The vibration feature is powerful so I always felt it. Overall, it was simple to use and practical. Newer phones often have so many useless features, that it actually takes away from the phone. I miss this phone. Aside from the dying battery, I have no major complaints about the 3390.

I'm definitely looking to buy another Nokia in the future. Hopefully it will live up to the same standard.

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST!
This is the best phone I have ever used.Even though we have so many new phones in the market. This phone still can compete with them.A cell phone shold work like a phone not as a camera or anything.
If you are looking for best performance phone then go for it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good phone with enough to offer
Iv'e had this phone for a little over a year now and only recently have iv'e been getting problems with it. The problems are when your in a call the phone will just hang up or all of a sudden get a bad echo which gets irritating. I probably cause the problems though after countless droppings, getting stepped on and much more. The phone works great has games for those who plays them, has IM for when you want to text somebody. So yea it has a little more than the essentials of a phone. You can customize it by changing faceplates or even downloading a tone or two. So yea I do recomend it if you want a phone that you dont want to worry bout getting a hit or two like these new color screen phones. I really dont know why you want a phone to half the stuff that they do and there so fragile I already know three people who broke the screen on those phones and in my opinion are just more trouble than there worth. STAY WITH THE BASICS YOU'LL LIKE THIS PHONE!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the nice phone from Nokia
Well NO matter what someone says it's one of the best phone from Nokia. I agree very basic .. not fancy stuff like camara and GPRS and WAP but it got AOL messenger.

5-0 out of 5 stars nokia 6200 - solid phone for the serious user
This is a very good phone. I have had it for a couple months now, and i can't really find any real fault with it. For its small size it is packed with features. It has a large bright color screen which is readable in daylight. It uses EGPRS for fast internet, and in my area, ATT/Cingular has good reception for clear calling. It can operate at 850/1800/1900 frequencies which enables use essentially world wide. The speakerphone is strong and loud, and there is a voice recording feature also. Despite having features of an advanced phone, Nokia has retained its trademark user-friendliness in this phone. Scrolling over a feature with the 4-way nav button activates help text for information. Additional perks include MMS, polyphonic ringtones, and FM radio with headset included in the package.
The drawbacks are small keys, but within a week, using the keypad seems like old hat. Unfortunately it does not have a camera, but this was a generation before camera phones came out. Dust tends to collect under the screen over longer periods of time, but can be cleaned by opening up the external case. I invested in a cheap (made in china) leather case and since then i have not had dust problems. Overall this is a solid phone with features designed for serious users. People wanting cameras and mp3 players in their phones look elsewhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid phone
Purchased the 6200 as a replacement for the horrendous 3595 offered by AT&T wireless as an introductory GSM phone. The 6200 signal/voice quality blows the 3595 away.

The ergonomics are awkward for those with larger hands, but after a few days of use, the keypad is tolerable.

The complaints posted here about "dust under the screen" are bizarre -- just take the back off the phone, snap off the front cover, and CLEAN the inside of the screen and the face of the LCD!It takes all of about 30 seconds ....

5-0 out of 5 stars takes a dip, doesn't skip
This is a great phone, and I was distraught when I realized that I had it on when I jumped in the pool for a couple of minutes. When I took the soggy handset in to get a replacement, I found out that Cingular didn't carry them anymore. Luckily, a rep there was nice enough to sell me her cherished 6200. Two weeks later, I thought I'd just test the old swimmer one more time, and IT WORKS!!! Now I have a backup for my next stupid move, and even more admiration for Nokia phones.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice phone but going to try a Nokia 8390
I think all the other reviews tell the story: great phone, great features, if you use them. Unfortunately I don't use the phone for anything other than as a phone. Give me a phone I can use anywhere. The color display is a problem for me, indoors it is fine but in areas where sunlight is intense it is very difficult to see the display. If key lock is on it is even worse, my ability to read this display is about 60% of my old 3360. I am going to look for a phone with a LCD display with lots of contrast and all the phone features of this phone (wish me luck). Any suggestions please email waynger@overbeckmachine.com

5-0 out of 5 stars true to the NOKIA name!
You know what?I don't know when people don't just buy Nokia's and make themselves happy.I see all these bad reviews on some of the 'coolest' and 'newesr' phones out there with all these bells & whistles but one thing the other companies forget it actually making it functional enough so the end user isn't pissed off all the time ... I don't get it!

The point is FUNCTIONALITY.I say the above statement because I temporarily got ployed into the new high rez screen flip camera phone nonsense that's going on out there.

First off, I've purchases 2 plans and 6 lines of service with AT&T over past 3 months ... NO COMPLAINTS.What I did was I purchased through all the online web sites that offer money back to you to buy the phones and plans.First one with letstalk, then cellular choices. Both excelent.I tracked the progress of my phone and the shipping, total took 4-7 days for phone activation and shipment. One was with brining my number over also.So overall, time wise was great. Shipment came fine, no problems with phones etc.Coverage also great.Coverage goes hand in hand though, bad phone gives bad reception.DON'T BE QUICK TO BLAME AT&T.

When I got my order I got the Nokia 3200 - great phone by the way, you can see my review on it but it's ugly.I sold it and got the NEC 525.OMH BAD MISTAKE.Dropped calls, calls overlapping eachother, little and to poor reception.I actually lucked out and was able to SWAP that with a Nokia 6200.I have been so happy since. Not once have I had a dropped call or bad reception ... NOT ONCE!Same carrier, same location, different phone ... I makes a world of difference and I believe part of that is because it is TRI-MODE.The guy I swapped with worked for Nokia and wanted a flip phone.I talked to him two days later and he said "This is a nice toy to play with but I'm going back to Nokia in a week or so" and he did!

As for me, I've tried them all late:Nokia, Samsung, LG, and NEC and I must say, no one can beat the Nokia technology. They may not be the best looking phones(well actually the Nokias that are new in Asia, Middle East, and Europe right now are GORGEOUS and do just about anything you can imagine, one plays movies and one even measures your pulse :O)

NOKIA 6200 PROS: (theres just so many)
- SPEAKERPHONE once you have it, can't do without
- TRI-MODE and hense EXCELLENT RECEPTION
- NEVER ANY DROPPED CALLS
- TWO TONE ATTRACTIVE COLOR
- GPRS fast for those who use the internet
- STURDY & DURABLE some might call chunky
- NOKIA TRUE PROFILES
- RADIO ALARM and APPLICATIONS
- IR
-FM RADIO with headset with excellent RECEPTION
- PC connectivity
- EDGE reason for such strong reception, very little nokia's have this!
- SOUND QUALITY very nice and loud, clear, and good volume control
- SMS MMS JAVA if you need
- VOICE COMMANDS
- GO TO MENU OPTION

NOKIA 6200 CONS:
- Not the best COLOR RESOLUTION compared to others out there only 4,096-color
- Not a CON but the back battery cover has a little gap, doesn't fully close
- One thing that is a personal want is that I wish you can change the up and down arrows as they both go to contacts as well as the right key selection, don't need contacts that much ;)
- You'll need to download some GAMES WALLPAPERS and SOUNDS (get them free at www.zedge.no) ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The Nokia 3200 is all about fun and self-expression while you're on the go. Fun features include a built-in flashlight and an FM radio. Specialized "cut-out" covers allow you to design your very own faceplate designs. On a more serious note, the 3200 is a powerful GSM phone with advanced data and messaging features, plus a built-in still camera.

Design
Don't let this phone's wacky looks fool you. It's made tough for a rough and tumble world, while maintaining a style all its own. The front of the phone sports a 128 x 128 color LCD display. The button pad features large, easy to press buttons. An internal antenna means there's nothing to snag or break off. The rear of the phone houses a CIF-resolution camera (352 x 288) camera, which is surrounded by a panel that can be removed for placement of "cut-outs." Personalizable cut-out panels are designed into the front panel, as well. You can design your own covers and slide them under the cut-out panel to personalize your 3200. Lastly, an infrared port is provided for data connectivity between the phone and your PC or other phones.

Calling Features
The 3200's phone book can hold up to 500 contacts with multiple entries per contact. It also features a speakerphone for easy handsfree talking. The phone features built-in polyphonic ringtones. More ringtones can also be downloaded from AT&T Wireless' mMode service. Pictures of your friends (or enemies) can used as caller ID alerts. For those times you want to keep things discreet, there's also a vibrate ringer mode. Speed dialing can be programmed for up to eight contacts so you're always one button away from your most important numbers. Finally, the phone keeps tracks of your last 20 calls.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
The 3200 is a powerful mobile messaging tool. Support is built in for sending and receiving text, pictures and sound via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. Instant messaging (AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ) is also supported and the phone ships with a built-in email client (AT&T messaging charges apply). T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Getting on the Internet is easy with the 3200. It supports the GPRS protocol, as well as the new, high speed EDGE data protocol. AT&T's mobile mMode service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get sports scores, download games and ringtones, and more.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the 3200 including a voice memo recorder, a calculator with currency converter, a calendar, and an alarm clock with snooze and a countdown timer. Nokia offers a free application on its website called PC Suite that facilitates easy synchronization of contacts, calendar events and other data between the phone and your PC.

Imaging and Entertainment
Use the 3200's camera to capture stills and then send them to your friends via MMS messaging or email. With an optional stereo headset, you can listen to tunes on the phone's built-in FM radio, which features 20 station presets. The phone also supports custom themes and wallpapers.

Java support is built into the 3200, making it a powerful gaming companion for both online and offline games. The phone ships with three games, Bounce BlackJack and Virtual Me. More games are available via the AT&T mMode service.

Vital Statistics
The Nokia 3200 weighs 3.17 ounces and measures 4.23 x 1.77 x 0.81 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4 hours of digital talk time, and up to 288 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the GSM/GPRS 800/1800/1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ugh...
It's bad enough that "The merger" has cost AT&T customers extra money and hassle, but it's really sad that when I dropped this phone and the screen died, I had to buy a WHOLE new Motorola phone.

This Nokia was a pretty nice little phone for the 5-6 months I had it.The reception was pretty good and i really appreciated the loud ringtones.

However, physically speaking, this phone left a lot to be desired. The plastic cover tends to scratch very easily, even though the only places it ever sat was on my desk, in my pocket, or in the console of my car.

I'm still unsure how barely dropping the phone made the screen die.Oh well....

Voice recording is only for 1 minute!
Not a flip phone but that dont matter much
Well those are my pros and cons and this is a cool phone, much better than my old Nokia 3410 because it was'nt even a camera phone but now I have a camera phone like everyone else! It is decent and I could keep my Nokia 3410 number which was easy to remember because I had 2 sim cards because when I had a Nokia 3410, I accidently messed up the security settings on it and typed the wrong PIN code 3 times so the phone ended up being permanantly blocked and my 1st number was almost impossible to remember without looking in your phone book. Anyway I reccomend u buy it because it is cool and instead of having a plain walpaper with no colour on my Nokia 3410 I have Ray Mcoonie of Little Britain as my wallpaper! LOL!Buy this phone for a better version of the Nokia 7250i! Buy it immediatly!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone
This is a great phone. I got it as a Christmas present and have been using it for about a month now. There are mnay handy features my favorites are the flashlight and the radio. Although the camera's resolution is pretty low it still functions well by means of sending pictures to your friends or attaching to phone numbers. This phone also draws attention among the endless stream of silver flip phones.Overall this phone is good for anyone who uses thier phone to its maximum potential.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nokia 3200 rocks!
I use the 3200 on the T-Mobile network and it rocks. Buy a AT&T pay-to-go version and unlock it to use on any network like T-Mobile. (type "nokia unlocking org" on google and follow first link for unlocking website)

Pro's,
1. Excellent reception and voice quality.
2. Decent price without any new contract, just buy it off the shelf.
3. Good feature set with a nice color screen, FM radio, speakerphone, camera, fun faceplate cutouts, etc.
4. New fresh design with funky keypad and translucent cover. Stand out from the crowd of similar looking flips.
5. Headset, fast charger and a decent manual included.
6. Intutive menus and fast text messaging with T9.
7. Very good battery life.
8. Includes "Bounce" a pretty decent game and possibility of downloading more.
9. Easy to unlock for use on any GSM network.

Con's,
1. Features are more geared for use by young people and not business users.
2. Camera quality is poor, as is the case with most of other phones on market now.
3. Works only in USA, Canada. No GSM 900/1800 bands on it.

In short this is an excellent phone from Nokia with a very affordable pricetag. ... Read more

Sporting a large, 4,096-color display screen and an unconventional, rotary-style keypad, we found the sturdy, feature-rich Nokia 3650 cell phone one of the best designed phones on the market, with excellent ease-of-use, crystal-clear reception, and a camera, video camera, and Internet access.

In our tests, we found that the comfortable rounded base of this 5-inch phone rested easily our palm, and the clever retro button display took only a moment of getting used to. The buttons and disc navigation felt quite durable, with a nice, solid action. Menu navigation involves two thin buttons on the top left and right that allowed us to move in and out of menus; then the standard 4-point clickable disc provided more detailed selection. There's a separate button for the main menu prominently below the disc, and the faux-rotary layout of the number buttons helped keep the navigation buttons out of the way during dialing. The requisite call and hang-up buttons are intuitively marked, and a futuristic-looking blue light shines through the numbers on all the buttons for easy keying in low-light areas.

The 3560 delivered consistent, excellent reception in a variety of testing environments, including a basement-level room that typically causes trouble with similar phones. The default ring tones were a bit too gentle for their own good; they were hard to hear in busy outdoor environments. The tones that we created using the composing feature, however, were quite audible, even in the midst of lots of noise. The vibrate alert was also quite effective and hard to miss. Nokia has also preloaded a variety of other polyphonic ring tones for alternate use, as well as a voice-dialing feature, which stores 25 numbers and was easy to use.

Thanks to high-speed GPRS connection, users can access a variety of Web content, such as news, travel information, and entertainment specifically designed for mobile phon
