The RAZR V3's design takes the standard clamshell form factor to the next level with an impressive, anodized aluminum construction. A large 176 x 220 color display with 262,000 colors dominates the inside of the top cover. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 80 full-color display that can display pictures, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The VGA camera lens is housed above this display. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side for volume control while a voice button on the right side of the unit allows you to enter voice memos and create voice dialing profiles. Bad phone for mommy
My mommy got this phone. my dad yells at her why she spent so much money on it cuz it isnt very good. i think it looks weird . it also isnt very load like one timemy mom had it in her purse thing and it rang and she missed the callbecuase she couldnt here the ringing!!!!!!!It is a very bad item thhing my mom is gonna sell it on ebay!!!!!

Great look: Battery power HORRIBLE
yes I agree with most of you: the RAZR is definitely sleek looking and such.I've barely had it for a month and already I'm disappointed.Seems I am always charging this phone even though I do not 'clock in the time'.The large screen is great; the fact you can put it in your backpocket and almost forget it's there is nice, too.But so far I am not impressed.. yes Nokia does make better phones....

Paying for the looks only
I got this phone about a week ago and sure, it's thin, it's cool looking but in the end, it's just a phone. I was deciding between the V3 and a nokia 6230. I really think i should've gone with the nokia.

- The V3's speakerphone isn't that loud. I turn it on and end up turning it back off because i can hear better without it.

- The phone has a slim profile but it's actually pretty large. it's just thin. When it's open, it looks huge against your face.

- The buttons are flat and takes used to using. This is especially true if you like to text message a lot, like me. The upside to this is that Motorola's iTap software is really nice to use compared to my old samsung.

- Yes, it has a large screen. but when you use it, oils from your face get all over it. the oils from your fingers get on the keys which transfer to the screen.

- no games unless you want to connect to the internet. BUMMER!!

- crappy ring tones. again, you'll have to pay for better ones.

The nice thing about cingular is that yes, you have good reception, mobile to mobile, and rollover. The bad thing is they totally rip you off in text messages compared to t-mobile.

Excellent Phone
I'm up in the North East and Cingular is great up here.I have had them for several years now and have tried other cell phone providers, but they are the best I think.This phone is great.I have had it for six months now and it works great.Reception is great, I get a signal in areas where other phones I have had I couldn't.I have dropped it several times and still not a scratch due to the metal housing.Great screen.Bluetooth works well.Phone is very loud.The battery life is great.I have read where some people say it is horrible.I'm on the phone all the time and I have never used up the battery to go under two bars.Great phone.The one drawback I found was Cingular will not insure the phone.

I have had the Motorols Razor V3 for about 3 months. I have had no problems with it. Good phone with terrible battery life.
So I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon and am quite happy with the signal and coverage.
Verizon truly does have the best coverage around the San Francisco Bay area.
The Motorola V-710 phone stood out as a sleak and sexy piece compared to all other phones that Verizon carried. It has an amazing color screen and fantastic reception.
If you are looking for a great phone with basic features, I suggest you get it at this amazingly low price.
But I wanted something more.... Bluetooth and freedom.
The V-710 really is Verizon's crippled bluetooth phone. They have disabled all but 1 bluetooth feature.
You cant transfer images, ringtones etc to your phone. Bluetooth feature can only be used for the hedset. This really sucks.
Also I was forced to purchase the extended battery cause the 2 color screens at > 65,000 resoultion kills the available battery in under 1.5 hours.
The phone is heavy but thats normal for CDMA. It's also oversized to fit the screen and keys. Eventually you will get used to it.
There are pro's and con's....... But overall I am happier now than I was with my Sony Ericcson T-610 running off T-Mobile.

The Phone is Awesome, but Nothing is Ever Perfect
Everything has its pros and cons.The V710 reception far outweighs the crappy camara any day!

I really like the Motorola V710 phone.I have had Verizon Wireless service for a few years now (word of advice, run if you haven't gotten stuck in with a contract) and this phone works the best on their network.I have a cronic problem of dropping calls around my house and this is the only phone that can hang on to the calls.In the past few weeks I have tried the LG VX7000, which dropped calls faster than a brick, and the Kyrocera (or however you spell it) which also drops way to many calls.I have been very happy with the V710, the camara sucks, as I am sure you have heard, but if you want a great camara, get a camara.The phone has some really niffty features on it and I am really starting to warm up to the menu, which can be just plain wierd if you are not use to it.Another thing that gives the Motorola a learning curve is the layout of the keys, but it can be a "what the heck is that" phone.All in all, I choose the Motorola because of the reception but I am finding all kinds of other features I didn't know I couldn't live without.The Motorola is an increadibly clear phone with great reception, but won't bring you the kitchen sink.The LG VX7000 is a phone that has increadibly crappy reception but does everything else with flying colors.But hey, the thing is a phone, not a butler.

Great Phone Cool Features
Recently upgraded from the v265, and wish I had purchased this in the first place. The 265 was a good phone but this phone has all the latest features, including BT. I resisted buying this phone due to the talk about limited BT functionality but realized it was just hype and I would not use anything more than the Headset or Car Kit anyway.

Beyond the features the quality of the phone take advantage of the great Verizon Network. I have had a few carriers and Verizon is the way to go. Not only is the quality much better but I actually pay less since most of my friends and contacts are on Verizon and such a high percentage of my minutes are covered under in calling. I take more advantage of this than I ever did rollover.

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM
With a little more than two weeks my phone is dead with no apparent reason.I only wanted to charge but then now it's completely dead.I cannot even power on the darn thing.And with lousy verizon service you will be stuck like me.Please DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE.AVOID THIS PHONE BY ANY MEANS, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S OFFERED BY VERIZON.Terrible, Terrible, Terrible.There is no other way to describe how I feel.I have never come across an electronic product that went dead after two weeks without any damage.NEVER in my life.

One other thing about verizon: I went to one of the stores and this lady tried to give me a refurbished one but then guess what? that phone did not turn on either.I wasted good one hour and half.And she said please bring the box with you and we will exchange with a new one.Today I found out that she thought I bought at one of retail verizon store.So she can only give me a refurbished one.What am I going to do with a refurbished one without any power on?Maybe they think I can just carry the dead cell phone to tell everyone how bad the phone is and how bad service I'm getting.

Anyway, until I resolve my issue, this is the most horrible experience I ever experienced with electronics.I will never buy motorola and possibly avoid verizon but at this point I have no choice.

Lots of features; so-so quality
I've had this phone since Dec. 2004. The first one stopped holding a charge after about 6 weeks. I'd fully charge the phone and a little more than a day later, after no more than 10 minutes of talk time, the thing would be completely dead. I contacted Cingular and they shipped me a replacement very quickly.

The replacement phone holds a charge much better (6 days), but the battery-life indicator doesn't follow an even path. It shows a full charge for several days, then goes to 2 bars of charge, and then dead, all but skipping 1 bar.

The sound quality is about average. I like and use the speakerphone. Turns out I don't use some of the other features (Bluetooth, camera) as much as I expected.

Annoyingly often, the phone doesn't ring when I have an incoming call, even when I'm in an area with a strong signal. Instead, I get the "missed call" beep about 15-45 after the call occurred.

This is my third cell phone, and overall I like this phone better than my second phone but not as well as the first.

Beware of Cingular Pricing and Sales
If I had not been careful, I could have paid Cingular anywhere from $25-100 for this phone within a two day period. Cingular has a serious lack of conformity between it's business units. The online price for this phone was different than the price offered by the business sales group, and different from the one offered at an official Cingular store... and I would have never known about the $50 rebate that was posted two days after I had purchased a qualifying phone if I had not happened to peruse the Cingular website. The transaction to convert 5 individual lines into a single family plan took about 4 hours to complete over the phone after being bounced from department to department.

The phone itself is fine and the camera is more usable than I had expected it to me.

Buy direct.
Buy this phone from somewhere else -- Amazon will delay dispatching the phone and then fail to send the information to Cingular to activate the phone. The Activation instructions included with the phone are be wrong, Amazon's customer service reps will tell you wrong information to activate the phone. If you realize this you will not be able to use Cingular's automated activation service because of the first problem and it will be well over a week before you get a working phone.

wen i got dis fone i wuz impressed i tought i wusnt gonna like it but its very stylish no dought about dat overall the fone does have good reception n it has wonderful the bestes speaker..but den the fone iz xtremely fat its very heavey n wen it vibrates its very annoyin u hear the vibration more den the ring video records r like 10 seconds the keppads r 2 wide so i returned it for the samsung p207 which iz an awsome fone

I love it
I have had it just a week now and I have yet recharged the battery. Maybe they fixed it? Yes I do talk on the phone. I was also able to use it to check my gmail, hotmail and my works email. Could get on AIM and ICQ with no problem. Camera takes ok pictures for a cell phone. Best I have seen so far. The mp3s sound great over the speaker and the speaker phone is pretty clear. Clarity is hardly an issue. Voice recording is easy...good for those sudden thoughts.

The screen is very clean IMO. Play poker on it with no problems.

Don't take T-Mobile
I rarely say anything is bad but trust me on this one I live in Atlanta and T-mobile service is very-very Bad here. It is not me but atleast seven of my close friends experience. You will not get signal if you get signal you will get Network busy. I have no complain about v300 phone. It is excellent but good phone can't help you if service provider (T-mobile) is so bad. My friends have different phone but all of us face same problem

Went Through 3 already
This phone SUCKS.I Have had to return two phones already and my third phone is already broken.The earpiece in the headset just stops working and you have to use speakerphone all the time in order to hear people.I never dropped any of my phones and always carried them in the holster given to me by t-mobile, yet they still stopped working.PIECE OF CRAP!!!!!

Very Disappointed
I also bought this phone right when it came out and spent about $180 on it even though I was a T-Mobile customer for years by then. Two years later and I've finally gotten so fed up with it that I had to get a new phone. My phone's demise was that I couldn't hear anyone anymore. It started off as a small problem about a year ago...I couldn't hear people on select calls and it was only for a few seconds before the sound kicked in. Now, I can only hear someone if I put them on speaker phone.

When I first got the phone, I had a lot of issues with it freezing. I called Customer Service, and they informed me that it was because I downloaded ringtones off of their website and my phone couldn't handle that. They wanted to completely wipe out all of the ring tones and pictures I had on my phone and reset it, after I had spent the money to purchase the ringtones off of their site. They finally agreed to give me a credit for the ringtones I had purchased before wiping them out. That seemed to clear up the problem, but then I had to use one of the phone's undesirable ringtones.

Also, when using the camera feature, I would often have a big red dot in the center of my picture. I thought it was the lense, but, I took it to a T-Mobile store, and they told me that there was something wrong internally with the phone and I needed to contact Motorola. Of course, they told me I probably had something on my lense, so I just stopped using the camera part of the phone since my year warranty was up.

When I called T-Mobile to get a new phone, they informed me that I had gotten a DEAL (spending $180 on a phone for it only to last 2 years) because it lasted a year longer than the manufacturer thought it would last.

Overall, I would not reccommend getting this phone. While I put up with the problems for a while because I spent so much on it, it absolutely was NOT worth it.

Horrible technology in this phone
I bought the v300 when it first came out, for $200 or so.A year and a half, and 4 replacement phones later, I am incredibly unsatisfied.I have had problems with the phone(s) from day one.On the first 2 phones, the battery eventually stopped charging up (within the first 2 months of purchase).On the second 2 phones, the phones screen would not work.

I love the look, weight, and structual durablility of this phone.But, the technology was worthless.Do not buy this phone

Wow!
Great phone and great Verizon service. I had t-mobile with a Samsung and dropped at least 5 calls a day. I have only dropped one call with this phone in the 3 weeks I have had it. Such an improvement. I dont have to worry if that business call will be dropped again!

The Great:
1) Reception, reception, reception.
2) Lots of neat gadgets including a cool phone.
3) Stays charged forever. The longest has been about 3 days and then it was only 1/2 uncharged.

The not so good:
1) I would like it if the front light would stay on all the time to show the clock. That is no real problem at all.

Overall, I am very happy with this phone and the extra couple of dollars for Verizon service is well worth it!

Great Phone
Although the LG VX7000 is my first personal phone I could say it is one of the best I have ever used. I have had experience with pretty much all the verizon LG phones and this is pretty much the best in the 0-150$ price range. One of its best features is its crisp display. The display is signaficantly better than the LG 6100 which is primarily a camera phone. This phones has the basic verizon set up, contacts,get it now, etc. Its too bad its voice dial feature is pretty bad.The phone cannot tell the difference between Ned and Ted and only has voice contacts not settings, driving mode, etc. If you really want that then get the LG VX6100. In conclusion a great all around phone.

VX7000 second thoughts
Think again before purchasing this phone.I bought it because the Consumer Report had it as #1.They were joking.It is bulky, display is for almost blind with font #46 letters, it has ugly graphics and limited features for programming our options.The reception is average, it doesn't work inside the house, but gets 3 bars on the driveway(?)(Friend's other phones work just fine inside).With the cover light, which is right above the front display you could control the traffic on the bussiest intersection in your town, it is really bright, ugly and tottaly not cool.I have never seen anything like this - what did they think off?But what pisses me off the most is that these lights flash to let you know that the battery is low - which I consider somehow stupid because it is draining your battery even faster.So I give it 2 at the most.

I just got my LG VX7000 and I have to say that this cell phone is the best I have ever had.I am new to the Verizon network and I must say that getting paid $50 to get the phone is a nice perk.

The screen is really big and very, very vibrant and colorful.It looks like an LCD laptop screen of LCD TV screen.It is really bright, big, and awesome!Compare it to other color screen phones, from only a year ago and see how this phone's screen is so much better!

The amount of memory that it has is really great as well!I have about 15 MP3 ringtones on the phone (which I made with 160 bit quality) and the phone doesn't seem to be maxxed out of memory.The sounds of the ringtones sound really great, considering the phone has a small speaker to play them from.

I have been getting all of my ringtones and images from www.MP3Ringtones4U.com - it only has a one time fee of $12 and you get all of the ringtones and images that you want!And, if they are not on the site, the webmaster (Alex) will create the ringtones for you (in under a day), exactly how you request them.The site is really amazing and is like none other (customer service-wise) I have ever used.It is totally worth it and highly recommended!It also has tutorials and other little tricks that you can do with your phone.

I must warn people that the "3-Piece Accessory Kit" being sold on Amazon for the LG VX7000 comes with a car charger which is NOT compatible with the LG VX7000 (BLACK).I complained to Amazon and they sent me another pack - of the same thing.It is very frustrating and not recommended.

I only wish that the phone's alarm would work when the phone is off...

A great phone with great service
I used to have a Samsung SGH-X426 phone with AT&T wireless and I really liked the phone because it was small, lightweight and looked pretty good.But I had horrible cell phone coverage with AT&T that continued even after the merger with Cingular.The bad coverage consisted of dropped calls, occasional garbled conversations and no/low service in some areas of California.Everyone that I talked to that had Verizon wireless really liked them as a provider so I decided to go with them and buy a LG VX7000BK from Amazon.

I'll go with the features that stand out to make me critique the phone (good and bad):

1.Great reception/coverage:
This phone excels at what I primarily need it to do: making clear phone calls.I have had it for almost a month and I have not had a single dropped call or garbled section of a conversation.My old phone/service would have dropped an average of 10 calls plus countless "garbles" during this same time and in exactly the same locations.

2.The phone is a little on the bulky side:
It's definitely bigger and heavier than my tiny Samsung but I carry it in it's holster (comes with it) on my belt so it's not an issue.I also found out that you're not supposed to carry your phone in your pocket because of the antenna being too close your skin and emitting radiation (I read it in the fine print found in the manual) so it worked out for the best using the holster.The larger size is actually a benefit when it comes to dialing and interacting with the phone menus because the keys are much larger than the old phone.

3.The outside and huge inside display screens:
The front display screen is nice showing picture id or the caller id so you don't have to flip open the phone to know who is calling you.I use distinct ringtones to identify some of my callers but the front screen is an added bonus.The inside screen is really large and high quality which is great for my photos that I use for backgrounds.The large inside display is also great for navigating through the menus, reading text messages and playing video games.

4.Voice dialing:
Using this feature, I don't even need my speed dial buttons and it's easy to program the voice dial function.When you're done setting it up, hit the button, say the name and it will make the call for you.One step nicer than trying to remember whether Joe was on speed dial number 7 or speed dial number 8.

5.USB Data Cable (not included) is great to transfer ringtones/wallpaper/phonebook info:
I bought mine off ebay for $15 and it was worth it.I use the free software program BitPim to transfer wallpapers/pictures/ringtones and phonenumbers between my phone and the computer.It's great for entering a lot of phone numbers at once on the computer (easier than doing it on the phone) and then transferring them to phone.Also great to back up your phone numbers in case you lose your phone.

6.No apparent missed call indicator once the outside display turns off:
This is my only true disappointment.A missed call will show on the outside screen but then the screen will shut off some time later to save power.To check for a missed call when it's off, you have to hit a key to fire the screen back up.It would have been nice if they would have programmed the flash indicator to flash when you have a missed call (I had that on my Samsung).

7.Camera/video option is ok:
The pictures are decent for a camera phone.That's not why I bought the phone and I really don't use it but I'm not complaining about an extra feature.

8.Decent game selection to download:
The GetItNow service from Verizon is great for downloading games.They're not cheap (around $6 for unlimited use of a game) but I've got Dig Dug, Downtown Texas Hold'Em and Impossible Mission and they're great when you have some down time.

9.Some accessories needed to be bundled with it as standard:
I recommend getting the following accessories for this phone: a good quality handsfree headset/earphone, a car charger and the USB Datacable.I wish they at least including a handsfree earphone but you can't win them all.

Conclusion:
All in all a great phone.I don't think it can be beat given its the performance, features and price.I gave it a perfect rating even though it has a few minor flaws because I've yet to find a single phone without at least a few flaws.I'm very satisfied with this phone and the service. ... Read more

lg vx6100 battery
is it just me or what? im satisfied with the phone itself, but i always seem to charge this phone every single day. so my only complaint is the battery life.

Jazzy phone, but does not do the basics right.Do not buy.
All right, so this phone has all the jazz, camera, speakerphone and all. But it does not do the basics right.

1. the call quality is bad. period. people cannot hear me, I cannot hear people. What else is a phone good for?
2. Its got a camera, and plenty of voice dialing features which I never used. What a waste of space. For example, if you want to turn the volume of the ringer high, the display shows you 5 staks of colored bars to show you the current volume level. Why in the world would you need that? A good display is one thing, a misused display is another. Poor engineering.
3. standby time: 3.5 days
5. talktime, I did not talk too much on it to discharge it, so I do not know.
6. speakerphone is ok on the lowest volume. But as soon as you jack the volume up, the treble in the sound becomes unbearable.
7. Signal reception is fine.

I am returning this phone and getting a good old nokia.

A great phone
I recently got this phone as a free upgrade (after a rebate) and am very impressed.For me it's greatest assets are it's voice command and speaker phone features.Properly mounted, it works great in the car as a hands free communication device.The fact that it can "read" all the names in it's phonebook, and dial the number at your request is amazing - no more scrolling around to find the number you want.Using the camera feature is easy, and the picture quality is OK for a 3x5 photo.FYI - you can purchase some nifty aftermarket software from Susteen called Datapilot that can get those photos off the vx6100 for free.I've used the software and it works well, but make sure to purchase the computer cable from Susteen also - I had trouble using another manufacturer's cable with the datapilot program.Reception has been great, as is sound quality.The speakerphone volume is good, but not great.
The only problem I've found with the phone are the side buttons, that can be accidentally pushed even when the phone is closed.This can activate the "Driving" (speakerphone) mode and result in an earsplitting event if you answer a call without realizing what mode the phone is in.

So far, so good...
None of the problems other reviewers have listed here have come up with my new phone (it has only been a week, however...)
Its a very cool looking phone with a nice, but smallish screen.
It keeps recording a terrible sounding message for the voicemail - but the people I talk to say that I sound perfectly clear on their end, so I don't know why that is happening.
As with most phones, the camera is kind of pointless - that's why you buy a camera.Phones are for phoning, cameras are for picture taking.Stop trying to get everything to do everything, and they'll work better.

stylish exterior, but that's about it
I would like to say that cameras aren't important for cellular telephones, but clearly the gadget-factor is critical for phones sales nowadays and the v265 doesn't stack up to its competitors in any department (except for the speakerphone, the one feature everyone can agree upon). The battery life of the v265 is also appallingly short, as is the case with most Motorola phones, and the advanced graphics just slow the speed at which users can perform normal activities e.g. browsing the phonebook or any listfor that matter. The voice recognition is fairly good on the phone, and users don't have to pre-record voice commands in order to dial or access voicemail, but the phone's electronic integrity is questionable (the screen flickers, the exterior display goes blank e.t.c) and I do not recommend this phone for anyone but devoted phone gamers.

Started off good, but 2nd one and its still a lemon
It was time for a new every two phone.Got the V265 from VZ as it was a trimode and looked cool... but the first one developed a major static problem and made it so you couldnt talk on it.. VZ sent out another new one and now only a week later it is doing the same thing.Thankfully its within the time frame of the satisifaction and VZ is changing me out to a different phone altogether.Hopefully the Kyocera will be better!

Good phone, crappy camera
GOOD - Good, clear phone with easy to customize features.In addition, it has a very good speaker phone compared to similar phones, which gives you added option besides the earpiece.

BAD - Camera is absolutely horrible!Very few features, horrific resolution, and very limited brightness.Also, even if you have another motorola phone, you still can't exchange phone books.

Reliability problems- do not buy!
had the identical problem as previous writer. The phone's exterior display does not recognize when the phone is closed, so it always shows "verizon" instead of the time/caller ID. This is a problem because when I open the phone, it does flicker on, then off, thus hanging up on the person! When I went to return it, the guy in the store confessed that another customer had a similar problem.

Works Pretty Well!
I have a Samsung A650, and travel all around the country driving a truck. Works in most areas, except some with no population. Much better than my old Sprint phone.

I'm going back to old phone! Terrible connections!
So I thought it would be good to trade-up from my old motorolla. Now I'm going back. Who needs a camera and video and color when you can't talk to anyone????

Don't buy this if a clear connection is what you want
AWFUL voice quality

My husband and I got these phones yesterday when we signed on with Verizon - a welcomed switch after six years with T-Mobile (and its predecessor).We were instantly charmed by its sleek appearance and style, and good basic features.That charm quickly faded.

We didn't even have the phones for 24 hours when we realized its HORRIBLE reception!When talking to each other, we were constantly saying, "What?Could you please repeat that?", "I can't understand you - will you say that again?", and of course, Verizon's own, "Can you hear me now?"ARRRRRGH!!Speech sounds garbled, and the sound constantly hesitates and goes out for milliseconds, making conversations stuttered and incomplete.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE is you want clear calls!!We're going back to Verizon, and swapping our phones for an LG-brand.This decision was based on DH calling me from nearly every phone in the Verizon store, and our comparing the quality of each one.

* TERRIBLE voice quality
* Phone heats up quickly - within two minutes - and just gets hotter, the longer you talk.
* I agree with other reviewers - the shutter sound on the camera is horrible.You can change the tone, but you can't adjust the volume.

Avoid this phone (and possibly Samsung)

-- can't remember if this phone ever finished a long (>10min) call without dropping signal.
-- one of our phones stopped working after 4 months of use. Verizon salesperson says this is due to "poor handling" on our part. How do you handle a cell phone poorly? We had to buy another phone.

Frankly this is my first experience with a "picture" phone, not sure if all picture phones are this bad. So I am not in a position to compare. My last Nokia with AT&T lasted 3 years without dropping a call, and Verizon signal strength is supposed to be superior to AT&T at least in the San Francisco Bay Area. My friends say Samsung clam shell model phones are best avoided, in general, i.e. unless you think screen saver is the most useful feature in a cell phone.

not bad, could be better
Well, my first cellphone, and I chose verizon due to the good reception. And for the phone, I loved the look of this phone, and the size. I have had it for a little over a month now, and i am somewhat satisfied. Its not terrible, for such a teeny peice of technology, it's very advanced, but so are all phones.

My pros:
- is very nice/classy looking
- can download cool rings very easily (does not come with great ones)
- the picture quality is very nice in my opinion


My cons:
- cannot turn of [camera] shutter sound, but can change
- not as customizable as i would like (the menu, fonts, sounds etc)
- only 3 options for LED screen (1 digital clock, 2 analog)
- wish it had longer battery life. It lasts 2 full days and one night without turning off, at normal use. dies at about 9 or 10 on the second night.

Basically its a fine phone, i defiantly wish it had more options for customizing, like colors for the menu, optional clock displays, and such, but it works, and its fun.
I guess what I REALLY would want, is to be able to put my photos in folders, like to have a few folders, and you can have personal photos come up as the caller ID, and I wish it would transfer into their contact info, and not clutter up my album when I simply had the photo for caller ID

Motorola V330 - Great phone for a frustrated T-Mobile user
I've had T-Mobile since it's voicestream days and along with the great service, I've had a line of dissapointing phones. From the Nokia 8900 series to the Motorola T720 to the Ericson T610, I've had a rough time finding a phone that works for me. Finally, out comes the V330. No more annoying buttons, small/flimsy casings or bad reception. This phone is great!

The V330 is a sturdy feeling, easy-to-use phone with some great features. It's operating system takes some time to get used to and has some strange layouts with the multimedia features, but overall it is fairly straight forward. It definitely feels like a tough, rugged phone with some weight to it - so when it's dropped it doesn't shatter. Finally, the reception and sound on this phone is far superior to my past Ericson and Motorla.

In my opinion, this is probably the best phone that T-Mobile has out currently. It's also a more cost effective alternative to the V600 or the future V635 with comporable features.

Nice, but could be a different color
I owned the V300 and found it to be a bit quirky, strange things would happen when ever I charged it, when it was finished all the personal settings would revert back to factory standard. They seemed to have fixed that with this latest version of the phone. My understanding is that they have combined the features from both the v300 and the v 600 to make this phone. I've only had it for 1 week and so far so good I always enjoyed functions such as speaker phone, voice dialing and voice memos, now I get the blue tooth and a much better redesigned key pad along with video clip capabilities. All of this is good news! If I had to pick a down side I would have to say that I'm dissapointed that Motorola decided to make this phone look exactly like the v300. I like what the body of the phone feels like, but a change of color would be better, maybe silver. ... Read more

Love this phone!
I have to say that I've had this phone for almost a year now and it's the best phone I've ever owned.I read many reviews before purchasing it stating that the battery life isn't good at all, but I did not find that true.I use my phone daily, several times a day and the battery holds a charge wonderfully.I have not been happy with the cell phones I've had in the past (and that has been MANY).I loved this phone so much that my husband bought one as well.I wasn't in the market for a camara phone, but this feature proved itself nicely.Good quality pictures.

WTF Samsung !
This is by far the worst phone I've ever owned. I had the Nokia 3650 and I wanted a smaller phone. This phone hasvirtually no features that my old phone had. I just bought this phone solely on aesthetics and because it had a camera. It doesnt look bad but thats about the only thing it has going for it. The picture quality is awful to say the least and I have to recharge it every 2 days(keep in mind I only talk about 10 mins a day because I hate talking on the phone). Not only that but my sometimes it tweeks and just turns off by itself and deletes numbers from my phone book. Please steer clear from this phone...

The best phone ever!
The samsung E715 phone is the best. This phone works great. Takes great pics and battery life last for ever. This great lil phone can take a beating and yet it still works. No problem with this phone.

the worst phone from samsung...crap....
this crappy Samsung E715.. is the worst i have ever seeen. i've owned it for a year and it started to have the same display problem ( like many other customers of the e715).... and after exchanging the phone with t-mobile, the display is fine but the phone started to give queer ringtone sounds. the ringtone is singing very very fast and its such a pain to hear your phone ring!!!!! my first phone had problem with the phone book also!! it would delete the phone book entries stored to the phone overnight. initially i thought it was coz of over charging, but it was going on every couple of weeks and i had to call t-mobile to replace my phone. the picture quality is dreadfully poor... no individual ringtone can be given to each number but has a group ringtone option ( which is sick to have... no individual option but a group option... "r u using ur brains SAMSUNG engineers....").. no option of saving the pictures to the simcard...( it was painful to lose all my 100 odd pics when i had to return my phone for exchange and i lost interest in taking pics anymore after i got the exchange phone). i called t-mobile to make my 2nd exchange. my friend also had the same problems as i had and i would strongly recommend t-mobile to discontinue issuing this model any more and pray god to give the Samsung engineers useful brains to think better and make better phones!!!!!!

Not A Bad Little Phone
I've had the E715 for about 8 months and it's been a fine phone. I made the switch from the Motorola V300 when I had calls that were getting dropped (turns out it's T-Mobile, not the phone, as I've had the same problems with this phone).

I wish I had kept the V300.

The Good:
* It's a cute phone. Very attractive.
* It lights up when on silent, which is a plus.
* The camera isn't bad - better than most camera phones (non mega-pixel phones anyway).
* The disk space is excellent. You can have many photos stored on the phone at once.

The Bad:
* The battery life is terrible. I have to charge this phone every night. I used to charge my V300 twice a week.
* The ringtones are TERRIBLE. As you know, you can't download a "normal" ringtone from T-Mobile. ALL of the ringtones that come with the phone are dreadful, and borderline ridiculous. There is no simple ringtone located on the phone.
* There is a button on the side of the phone that activates the camera with the flip phone closed...this means if it hits something in my bag, it ends up taking a bunch of black photographs (and making that obnoxious shutter noise sound, even on silent). This happens all the time.
* No speakerphone.
* The headset needs to be moved around to work, or you won't hear a thing. Not handy while driving.

Overall, it's a good phone. However, my next phone will be a Motorola, as this phone lacks too many basic features. ... Read more

Difficult beginning
Amazon is one of the most trustable internet shop and Verizon is one of the most trustable vireless service provider. That is why I choose this. However, the beginning is really painful to me. It wasted me more than two hours to make more than 3 pnone calls to Verizon and 2 phone calls to Amazon to make my phone work. Maybe there are some problems for the communication between them. I do not know. But I just want the phone I bought work. It seems not easy. Therefore, if you would like to choose this a little complex method, prepare to pay your time. In fact,
my friend also bought a phone, but it works well. Anyway, I get it work now.

the lil' phone that could!
Okay ----- so there are no bells and whistles on this phone - no camera, little data options, etc

However, it does what cell phone should do, which is ----- it has terrifc voice quality, both on the receiving end and on the outbound side

I am also very impressed with the phone's durability - it is made of plastic, but it would be very very very hard to damage this phone

and lastly, it does have a jack for headsets, and the headsets all seem to work excellently off of this phone

in some cases, you could even get this phone for FREE when signing up ---- anyhoo, if you need a phone on the cheap, then look no further than this one!

Outstanding affordable phone
This is the best compact flip-phone I have ever owned.I have had more expensive phones with additional bells and whistles, but this one blows them away.
Very durable.Have dropped numerous times.

Flashy, pretty and small, but I'd rather it was ugly, had voice dialing, a standard jack, and no fade in and out.(function before form!)

Worse than my Samsung x105..
Yes, it really is worse than my Samsung x105. I've been using this phone for nearly a month. It looks really cute and seemed like a good upgrade from my last non-flip phone but, its looks don't make up for its functionality.

Good: I've noticed that this phone has an improved T9 system. The colors on screen are very vibrant.

Bad: First off, the reception is the worst I've ever had. People often have a hard time hearing me and vice-versa. People always tell me to repeat myself. The battery life is pretty bad. With my last phone I would charge it every 3-4 days. This one I have to charge every other day and I rarely use it. The ringtones sound "tingy" compared to my last phone and often hard to hear.

I have to disagree with all the previous reviews... Maybe I just got a bad phone. >:( If I did, I wonder if its too late to return it.

Good, Cheap (meaning inexpensive) phone
This is my first tmobile phone, before i had the much bulkier and expensive vox8610 from Virgin mobile. this phone is GREAT. comes with 4 games, around 20 ringtones with the feature of downloadable mp3 ringtones. you can picture message, send sound files - record you own and send them. i love the Ondemand Alerts, i can check the Red sox score by sending the word SOX to the number 444 - after i set my code words of course, and within 4 seconds i have the up to date score - good for when your stuck in a play and the sox are on - (true story)

thats it - great phone - get one of your own, if you activate a new membership you can get it for 20 bucks.

fun tip* aside from teh games, if your bored try pressing the number "2" like 40 times, slow down near the end and on one of the pushes it will get stuck vibrating. even when you close the phone it will keep going, the only way to stop it is to push a numbered button. but if your bored enought you could play teh pussycat with it or something. *it may have to be set on "voice" under sound options for keytone.

Great Little Phone
I've been using the Samsung x475 for a while now and I must say that I'm very satisfied with it. The small size and weight of the cell allow it to be easily stored away and provide a lot of comfort when you need to be on the phone for a long period of time. Not to mention the hands-free set it comes with helps to make things that much more comfortable.

I love the overall look and design of the phone. It has an attractive blue/silver cover and a service light (green-default) that can also let you know when you have received a voicemail or text message (red-default). The screen is very easy to read and it's simple to navigate through everything and change your settings.

The charger it comes with doesn't need to be used as much as I thought it would. I find that I can use the phone all day long and still not lose even a single bar on the three-bar battery line. Of course, I do put it on the charger almost every night just to be on the safe side of things.

Next comes the fun part: accessories. Hi-fi ringers, wallpaper, games, cases, etc. Most of these are pretty self-explanatory, but I love the Hi-Fi Ringers that you can purchase from T-Mobile's site and then assign each one to a different contact in your phone book. It's a great feature that will let you know the difference between a call you really want to take and a call that you would rather let your voicemail answer instead.

I'd recommend this phone to anyone wanting a standard flip-cell without the need of a camera. It's a really good purchase for all of us minimalistic lovers out there who just need something that can get the job done.

Real nice
I just got this phone, and it's smaller than I expected. When I measured it, it turned out to be 3 and 3/8 by 1 and 6/8 by 7/8. At any rate, it turned out to be smaller than I anticipated. The screen is really bright, the backlighting of the number pad is very nice and bright, and it's built pretty durably for a samsung phone. There's this transparent dot in the middle of the face that lights up when it rings, or it serves as a blinking signal indicator kind of like the old startacs. It charges very quickly, and when you type numbers to dial it displays it in enormous font size for people with bad eye sight.

I was really surprised by the service. I looked at the tmobile coverage map, and my area was not very green (digital), in fact my surrounding area was all tan (not even light green). However, I get all full bars of signal in my home, and this phone seems really good at picking up signals according to other reviews I've read. In fact, I get much better signal and call quality with tmobile than I do with cingular (their map claims my area is all green). Also, the included (wired) headset is very nice and clear.

Anyways, on to the cons. Like other reviewers mentioned, the ringer tones stink. They're crazy eccentric tones no self-respecting person would want to use. But whatever; no big deal. The only other thing I wish this phone came with is a holster. I don't like cases because they make the phone bulkier and not very good for clamshell phones. So you're stuck sticking this phone in your pocket where it seems easily scratchable, like most other phones on the market. Other than this, I really like this phone. Great phone
I did a lot of research before getting this phone and it seems to have gotten a lot of mixed reviews. However, I've been extremely pleased with it. Here's what I've found:

Pros:
- The menu is easy to use and aesthetically very nice.
- Lots of convenient short cut keys.
- The camera quality is pretty good for a cell phone and has adjustable quality levels (Even on low quality, the picture is pretty good if you're keeping it on the cell phone as a background or something).
- Battery life is pretty good- I can go several days without recharging it.
- The reception seems to be pretty good, too.
- I've seen a few reviews of complaints that they kept taking pictures of their pockets accidentally, but there is a key lock, and even without that on, my phone won't take pictures while it's closed. Perhaps they've changed the way the camera button works since then?


Cons:
- It did take a little reading of the manual to find out how to use all of the features (speakerphone and key lock, for example) but once you figure it out, it's quite easy.
- The screen is a little hard to see in bright sunlight, but it's not really a problem unless you're trying to take pictures as it can be hard to see what details are in the shot.
- The built-in ringtones aren't great, but the ringer has good sound, so you can download something better for it.
- The external display alternates between "Verizon Wireless" and the time, which can be annoying when you want to know what time it is and have to wait 5 seconds before the clock comes back.
- No games.

Ugly phone/Bad call quality/
I bought CDMA 9810 (AUDIO VOX) which is SUCKS - NO Question about it. I returned it and bought Motorola 710

I used CDMA 9800 (AUDIOVOX) earlier which was good. I liked it. CDMA 9800 is better than 9810 (which is higher version of 9800)which is quite surprising.

Really good phone for the price.
This phone has a lot of attractive features that make it worth buying, but there are also seveal caveats.

The Good:
- The dual display is very nice, allowing the external LCD to display either an analog or digital clock (the analog clock looks really sharp).The main screen is full-color, which is nice, though becoming standard on cellphones.
- The battery life is long.I can go two days without charging my phone and be fine.There's also an extended-life battery available, though I can't imagine needing it.
- The camera is OK by cellphone standards, but having a flash really helps.Also, the phone has overlay "frames" that allow you to take fun pictures.Another nice feature is the ability to take self-portraits with the external LCD.
- The MP3 ringtones are nice.Instead of a MIDI re-creation of your favorite songs, the real songs themselves play on your phone.There are free services on the web for making your own ringtones, but Verizon likes to combat them.

The Bad:
- The included belt clip doesn't allow the phone to open while holstered, so you have to unclip it to use any functions.
- Sometimes you'll take a picture of the inside of your pocket because the camera button gets pushed.
- The external LCD is black-and-white, unlike newer models with color displays.
- The phone takes a long time to turn on/off when compared to other phones.

Are we talking about the same phone?
This is the worst phone I have ever used.I was a long term sprint customer but figured I would switch to Verizon about a week ago.I get a 22% employee discount so I thought I would switch.After reading reviews on the Audiovox CDM8910, I thought I would get an amazing phone.First off this phone is not user friendly.If you want to use the phone outside, forget about it.The screen turns black in the sun.The camera quality is terrible.The ring tones are horrible and very limited.Plus, there are no games, not even plain old freecell.I almost wish I had my old school LG phone, it may have been basic but at least it was easy to use.So beware of some of these reviews about how great this phone is.Or do what I did and buy the phone just to exchange it for something better.

Disappointing
Pros:(1) First tri-mode phone that would work inside my house.Don't know if that's due to upgrades in Verizon's network since the last time I tried to switch to a tri-mode orif it's that this phone has more range.I tried many tri-mode phones that didn't work and had to keep going back to my trusty Audiovox 4000 dual-mode phone for its better range.

(2) Good display for older eyes, except very difficult to see in a quick glance who the caller is when a call comes in on call waiting while you are talking to someone else.With my old phone, I could see the incoming caller's number in a split second and get the phone back up to my ear so I didn't miss much of the conversation I was in.On this one, the number of the person you are talking to is clear but it's hard for the eye to find and read the number of the person on call waiting, especially in high ambient light.

Cons:(1) Short battery life.Short car cord.Once the battery is dead, I try to keep talking by plugging in the car cord and hunching over close to the cigarrette lighter so the short springy cord doesn't pull the plug out, but after a minute or so, the phone shuts down even with power from the cigarette lighter if the battery is dead. Maybe my charger or battery is defective.

(2)Camera -- no way to get pictures out except by sending them to yourself over the internet, which costs money. But that's okay, because the picture quality is poor so why would you want them? No way to lock buttons, so you are constantly taking pictures of the inside of your pockets and especially of your shoulder as you answer calls and accidentally hit the shutter button.

All-in-all, a step down from my trusty, clunky old Audiovox 4000 which I used for years.I would still be using the 4000, except Verizon insists they will charge me $150/month for 2000 minutes with the 4000, plus charge for long distance, whereas with a tri-mode it's $99 and free long distance. Waaaa!

So now it's off to the Verizon store to return this phone and try another. ... Read more

Best Phone I've Ever Used
If you're looking to unshackle yourself from carrying a mobile phone and PDA and don't want to replace them with a brick, then this is your phone.I've been using the phone for about a year and love using the calendaring, email, contacts and tasks that make this phone so functional.

Synchronizing with my PC is as easy as putting the phone into the included USB cradle -- Immediately all my contact, calendar and task information is synch'd.Using Verizon Wireless' Mobile Synch service, my e-mail is delivered directly to my phone in addition to my desktop PC.I can easily reply to e-mail by recording a .wav file that gets attached to the e-mail message and sent to the recipient without ever having to type a letter.

Microsoft's ActiveSync software makes storing documents, spreadsheets, even .pdf files easy and convenient.There are many third party software programs that are also available for the SmartPhone 2003 platform adding to the phones productivity.

Reception and clarity is better than any other phone I've used.One handed operation is simple and part of my everyday use.Turning on silent mode is done with just three key strokes.My advice is that you not waste anytime with the standard battery, but upgrade to the extended battery at the outset.I get two full days worth of usage -- on average -- using the extended battery.

The iPaq and Treo type phones have great features as well, but I don't want to have to carry around something that big and clunky.I love my i600.

I love this phone
I like the small size of this pda phone.I use Microsoft software all the time so it only made sense to get a pda phone that works off of the same platform.I used to have a cell phone and a sony clie pda.It was annoying carrying both around.I sold my clie and upgraded my cellphone with Verizon.It is definitely worth the money.

Poor design means many lost calls
Good concept, but so many problems. For example - if you are on a call, it is nearly impossible to pick up another or to put the person you are talking to on hold; when you open the shell to answer a call, if you so much as touch the buttons on the side of the phone (and it is nearly impossible not to), you won't be able to pick up the call. I am unable to pick up approximately 30% of all of my incoming calls and that is simply unacceptable - and I know it is not a problem handset because they have replaced it once and other people I know with it have the same complaints. A total waste of money.

WOW- what a phone.....
Being in sales, I'm one of the few damned to spend eternity on a cell phone. I'm a certified road warrior. In the past 5 months I've owned a total of 5 cell phones. the v600 from motorola, a few nokias, heck I even tried the N-Gage to entertain myself in the airports. So I am very demanding when it comes to phones. Most importantly, I want a phone that's a good phone.

The i600 blew me away. It continues to blow me away. the microsoft OS is perfect, it sychs with Outlook, and lotus notes via intellisynch software. It keeps scads of contacts, and has an option slot for the SD Memory cards.

If you;ve used an ipaq, or a CE based PDA and liked it, you'll love this phone. Best of all the phone comes with the important things. A spare extended battery, and a charging docking station that lets you charge not only the phone but the spare battery also.

Very well thought out phone, with function, and performance in mind. You cannot go wrong with this one.

Good if you want a phone w/ pda functionality
I initially bought the treo 600.But, I returned it to Verizon after a week because I couldnt get used to the form factor (In my opinion, the treo's ridiculous tiny buttons are a pain, and I am not a fan of devices that require use of a stylus).

The Samsung seems to be a phone that has added features of a pda and NOT a pda that has added features of a phone.I think this is the primary reason I like it so much more than the treo.

I had zero problems syncing with MS Outlook on my laptop when I used the cable.I had to monkey around a little to get the wireless IR sync to work, but eventually figured it out and it works BEAUTIFULLY!I have been waiting a long time for a PHONE (not a PDA) that can by easily sync'd with Outlook for calendar and contacts.This phone does that.I dont plan to sync e-mail with this phone at the time, but I understand that can be done also.This phone solves my most critical need - to have my updated calendar and contacts while I am out of the office.I also like the fact that the MS Windows Mobile O/S is intuitive and very easy to use.Overall, I am happy with the phone.

Avoid at all cost
This phone lasted two months before it the horrible reception forced me to get a new phone. What can I say cingular costs far too much for the terrible service.

Now I know why it was FREE!
This phone was great to start off with. But after about 3 1/2 months the phone started to drop calls every so often. Now 1 month later it is dropping calls very frequently. Sometimes with five bars the call just dissconects. I know it's not Cingular the Motorola v551 in the same exact spot is still crystal clear. Do your self a favor stay away from the x427m. If you buy Cingular try to get the v551 from www.cellularchoices.com and you will get a great quality phone for free! (P.S.-This phone shouldnt even have 1 star)

Great starter phone
I got this phone for my daughter as an added line on family plan(free from Cingular, because I bought the Motorola V551 from Amazon as the main phone line), and it is perfect for her use(she is 15.) Seems solid, very very lightweight, nice bright screen, good sound, and better signal than my motorola! The battery life is EXCELLANT! My motorola burns out before a day is over, hers goes for days. However, very litte features, which is ok for someone like her. No camera of course, but she didnt want one. Not very customizable. Cant change what is assigned to the buttons(like I can on my phone) and I hate how the middle and the right arrow buttons connect to media or the internet. I put an internet block on her phone from Cingular(customer service), but she was still able to access the media mall and was browsing ringtones before I realized, and made her stop! The data transfer costs!Comes with a few games, mine had one demo game. More wallpaper choices than mine as well. Cant view who's calling or the time from outside of phone when closed. We set the option to not answer when opened, so we arent answering calls we dont know who it is first. All in all, pretty nifty phone, simple, easy to use, one touch to write a text message, and other simple menu features.Buttons are flat, as are mine, but if looking at it(to type text message) not a problem, but if in a prompt command on a call, have to move it from ear to see what numbers I am pressing. All accessories are cheaper here at Amazon versus anywhere else.

Good, basic phone - missing some helpful features
I got this phone as a replacement for my venerable and trusty Siemens S46. I'll comment solely on -the phone- and not on the service (which has been fine).

Good points:
- Fantastic screen
- Good to excellent reception
- Fairly simple menu navigation* (note caveats below)
- Included applications, media, games, etc. are high quality
- Very thin and light, even with battery
- Excellent battery life (5-7 days on standby)

Bad points:
- The button configuration on this phone is very strange - maybe this is just due to the Cingular configuration, but I keep thinking the largest button (with the Cingular logo) should be "Dial" by default, when instead it is inexplicably mapped to flip over to GPRS mode.
- The phonebook lookup is -awful-.
- There is no copy to/from SIM card feature. This means that if you want to, say, copy phonebook entries without buying the USB cable, you have to enter them by hand.
- The headset jack is very hard to open and suffers from a loose connection and static.
- The keys have no raised dots to center yourself without looking at the phone - while hard to describe, this makes it very hard to dial the phone with one hand, something which I have been able to easily do with most other phones. ... Read more

Just renewed my lease and got it from T-Mobile
I was happy with my previous phone V300.This one gives lot of dropped calls, lot of static when travelling in car...Recommend buying some other phone.

Not So Moto
I upgraded to Motorola V188 from Sony Ericsson with T-mobile as my service provider. The phone looks amazing with its nice GUI and other graphical features. It is sleek and nice to have.

But during my two years of service with T-mobile, I never had any issues with dropped calls as with this phone. On an average I get see two-to-three calls being dropped. The conversation gets disconnected; People cannot hear to what I am saying. I am finding ways to not to use this phone anymore.

I usually put this phone in my bra... That's how small and sleek it is. The ringtones are crisp and the colors are amazing. My connections haven't been lost yet and I've had it for a month. It's usually the other person's phone with crap services like sprint and nextel that drop calls. I use the t-zones service mainly for yahoo messaging my husband over in Iraq, and checking my yahoo mail right from my phone. I also shop for wallpaper and ringers every now and then.
The only problems I have is the fact that t-mobile's network is unavailable one too many times for my taste. But that's not the phone's fault. And I'm still waiting for someone to have the changable faceplates so I can toy around with the already great look of my phone. Also there arent any holster clip's for the 188. I checked many times. I'm not into the leather thing. In the meantime there's always room in my bra for my new beautiful baby motorola v188!

If your looking for a simple phone, this is it.
To be honest, this is my first Cell. But when I finaly decided to purchase one, this is exactly what I was looking for; simple. I didn't want a camera, I didn't want a PC (or Mac, if you prefere), I didn't want an MP3 player, I wanted a phone. And this is exactly what it is. Nice crisp grahpics, uses the HiFi Ringtones, has voicemail, and text messaging. It also has enough features like AIM, a web browser, a calander, and Get More Options (dependant on SP?), to be multi-tasked. But it still knows its' purpose, a simple phone for a simple user.

The Samsung SGH-P735 is a good solid multimedia phone.Not only can it take a nice picture, but it has looks that will turn heads and start conversations.Business users will miss voice dialing and a speakerphone, but for the casual user the P735 will offer enough fun for those things to be overlooked.

Great phone with NO SUPPORT!
This is a great phone for someone who doesn't care for new games. Although the phone has been in the market for nearly a year, there are no games available for it through tmobile besides the few that come with the phone. Don't get me wrong, I love the games, but I'd also love to play Tetris which has yet to appear at the tmobile site.

Here are the more intriguing features.

MP3 PLAYER
The MP3 player is mediocra at best. The nice thing about it is that it pauses when you have an incoming call and allows you to resume right where you left off. The bad part is that you can't fast forward. Many of you may be saying, "It's a phone, what do you expect?" But the truth is that it's built-in video player that does allow for rewinding and fast fowarding so that aspect is a disappointment.

Another HUGE disappointment is that you can't use your stored MP3's as ring tones. Again, the phone allows you to transfer videos from the memory card (RS MMC) to the phones memory and save them as your wallpaper (yes i mean video wallpapers) So again, this is somewhat of a let down since mp3's aren't nearly as complicated (or as large) as videos. Also, MP3's need to be encoded at over 128kbps. I think I encode them at 196kbps. Whenever I tried to go lower, the phone wouldn't recognize them as valid MP3 files.

ADVANCED VIDEO CAPABILITIES
Now for the clincher. Using simple media conversation tools like psp video 9, you can watch music videos and movies on your phone in .MP4 format! I purchased a 512MB RS MMC stick for $65 in December and use it to store videos and music that I enjoy everywhere such as on walks around town and on the bus or train. For those of you that love subtitles, they'll still be legable on the phones screen.

HEADSET
Another saddening fact is that it doesn't include a headphone jack. But it makes sense since headphones don't have buttons that allow you to answer calls so this can be overlooked. It's also comfortable, stay in place and are discrete with its unique design.

CAMERA = 1.1 MEGAPIXEL, BEST OUT
The camera is decent but its still the best US camera phones have to offer. The lack of a built-in flash makes it useless in poorly lite homes or at night.

BUMMER?
Hm, another thing that I noticed some people may miss is that the battery status bar stays idle while charging. I personally don't mind since the adapter itself has a status light (red for still charging, green for go time) so who cares right?

SUMMARY
So it's a media center in your pocket. A 512MB stick can probably hold a single movie, 3-4 20+ min episodes, or tons of songs and pictures. (You can throw your own pictures in there as well). Hope you found this helpful!

The BEST Phone!
I LOVE this phone, I have been a longtime devotee of Samsung and this phone just rings my bell.Swivel feature best for using the mp3 player and just plain showing off.Great reception and battery life is what I would expect.

Tip for those purchasing new mobile phones:Condition your battery!This will greatly extend the life of your battery (in between charges and replacements).
Step 1:The first time your charge it, charge for 12 full hours for lithium ion battery (most common these days).
Step 2: Let it die COMPLETELY and then charge it FULLY again.
Step 3:Repeat step 2 one to two more times.

Always try to let your battery come as close to depleting as possible before recharging, this will extend the life of your battery as far as replacement.Your battery's longevity is based on "cycles," from one charge to the next.The more times you charge the battery, the sooner it will need to be replaced.Also, avoid using car chargers whenever possible, these are a "rush" charge that do not last as long (in terms of recharging) as traditional wall "trickle" charges.

battery life
Did anybody else notice that the batter life is short?It only lasts me about 32 hrs and I don't even use the phone that often.Take two pics and talk for about 10 minutes and battery life is drained.

In order to play mp3 files you need to transfer files to your RS MMC but make sure less than 20 characters on name of mp3 track (including spaces letter or number) sam p735 will not read items fromMMC if it has more than 20 characters .also make sure these are mp3 not real audio or wmf sound format.only reads mp3 sound format .u can rename mp3 sound file b4 transfering to multimedia card .make sure once mmc card inside phone u select the mmc location . that will relsolve your issue .also u can download videos and compress it with (pvauthor) program and copy to mmc card and play on your handset

solid choice
I replaced a high-end previous generation nokia with this phone based primarily on its small size.

The good:
*Size. This phone fits easily in my pocket. I had a tiny nokia and this phone was the only flip phone at the Cingular store that was nearly as narrow.
*Signal. I find the signal coverage to be slightly better on this phone than my nokia (despite cingular's advice to the contrary).
*Battery life. I go a few days between charges. The phone seems to charge quickly, too.
*Usability. I thought it would take time to get used to something other than my nokia but the menus were easy to use.

The OK:
*Camera. The camera is not great in low light, but is fine overall. One annoyance is the camera can be turned on using an external button. I've taken the occasional picture of my pocket. Also, you can't seem to get rid of the camera's shutter sound (I haven't looked that hard, but it wasn't obvious).
*Sound quality. I think sound quality is lower on this phone than on my old nokia. I can hear people fine, but there is a little bit of distortion, like you might hear if you turned your stereo up too loud. It seems to help to keep the volume down a little and/or to tilt the phone slightly away from my ear. Like most phones there are volume buttons on the side of the phone so its easy to adjust.
*Customization. I don't feel like I have as much control over ringing patterns, displays, etc. as I did on my nokia. Still, those are the kinds of things you get used to.

The bad:
There are really no deal-breakers for me on this phone. So far its been a good deal.

Overall a very capable phone. I'm enjoying it.

Excellent features and style. Definetely recommend
I'd have to say that i'm in love with this phone. I recently received it last week, and can't stop playing around with it. For starters, the external display on front of the folder is great. You can choose what color you want it to be, and it has a neat little service light on it as well. Once you open the folder, the screen size is pretty good. The buttons and layout are nothing differen than you average clamshell phone, but that's ok. The softkeys are nice. As for the features, the phone is incredible. Theres too many things you can do to write down, so I won't go into detail. However, let me just say that once you connect to Cingular's MEdia Net, you will be hooked. Lastly, as far as everyone talking about the poor sound quality, just buy the additional earpiece(probably best to get it in the 3 piece travel package) and you should be hearing fine again.

Eh.. A nice phone until you have to talk on it.
Okay, so I started reading reviews AFTER I purchased this phone. Seeing all of the "horrible sound quality!" comments, I was pretty nervous. And I had a reason to be. The sound quality on this phone is awful! I don't think it has anything to do with Cingular or reception, as I've never had problems with cingular before. I just can't hear anything on this phone and what I do hear is muffled and distorted. My friends are tired of me saying, "What did you say?" over and over again and they can't even hear me half the time. Also, I've had several instances of the phone "freezing up" on me. I'll have to remove the battery to get it to start working again.

It's a great looking little phone and the camera is pretty cool and fun to mess around with - but in the end, it is a phone. When you can't use a phone for it's main purpose, you have some problems. Samsung should have put a little more time and effort into the speaker instead of into all the little options that don't really matter much.

Nextel call quality is tops
Nextel and Motorola have developed the ultimate "ultra cool, super sleek,great phone w/the i730. Not only does it have consistent great sound quality on calls, but the ability to quickly contact other Nextel friends or relatives with a single push of the Direct Connect button makes other phones "just another phone".
**By the way, the Direct Connect (2 way radio) is usable in FULLY PRIVATE mode by simply pressing 1 button. The speaker turns off, you hold the phone to your ear, you scroll to the name of the bud you wish to contact, you push the button to talk and release it to listen and NO ONE has to hear your fast Direct Connect conversation. All Nextel phones have the privacy button for Direct Connect. It makes voice mail such a waste of our time.
That is how I use my Nextel all day at work in the office, I also keep mine on silent vibrate mode for totally discrete private use.
Look at any volunteer fireman/firewoman, construction person, cop, or young Jr High/HS kid in the Westchester/Dutchess/Rockland/Putnam County, NY region: you'll see a Nextel on their belt or in their hand. It is THE PHONE where I live.
Just try one. They have so many plans you will find one you like.

great phone, better customer service
This is a review for boost mobile (nextel's prepaid service).I have a company phone when I travel during the school year, so I wanted a cool prepaid phone.I had (still do) a Nokia 1220 (Tracfone) and that phone was good (very basic), but I only had service in my local area (Houston) and no where else.After getting stuck at Chicago O'Hare without cell service, I decided I needed a phone that would get service in all major areas of the USA.I have not been dissappointed!!The rates are VERY reasonable for prepaid ($.15 - $.25/minute), customer service has been WONDERFUL, and it has (almost) all the cool features I had on my Sprint vision phone.TM, internet and walkie talkie (to Nextel and Boost customers).I hope what I read in an earlier review is not right about them getting bought out by sprint, because I was with them for almost 6 years and the customer service and plans went VERY steadily downhill!If you need a REALLY COOL phone and do not want a monthly contract, consider Boost Mobile.

Positive feedback
The I730 of mine has served me now for over a year and a half. I have never had any major problem. Due to me using it all the time and dropping it a few times I am now looking for another to replace it. I don't have any problems with internet service, cell service or two way radio, unless I go out of the Nextel tower area. Which for me isn't very often. I wouldn't trade mine if I had to.

i730 is not that bad
The i730 is a great phone, but I still think sprint is better. I gave this phone a rating of 3 because it doesn't recieve service everywhere you go. that's CRAZY! I thought nextel recieved signal anywhere. Currently I attend Wayne State and my phone rarely has service. On the other hand if I'm at home my phone never drops calls. Nextel really needs to step it up a notch, buI guess I can't say much about it because sprint will be buying them out soon.

Not a bad phone, but the cheaper model gets better signal.
I don't own this phone. I own the cheaper Motorola (Nextel) i710. I have many friends who own this phone though, although a few of them have since "downgraded" to the i710.

The main reason I chose the i710 over this i730 was signal strength. the i710 consistently gets better signal the the i730 no matter which of my friends phones I compare it too. All my friends are on the same wireless plan from Nextel as I am, so I know its not service, it is definitely the phones.

I can have full bars on my phone (5 including the little antennae icon) and my friends phone held right next to mine will have 2 or 3 bars. My phone gets signal in places their phones are "Out of Service."

Now you might say that maybe my friend just has a dud phone. Well I have 4 friends who have the i730, 5 friends with the i710 and one with the i860, all from Nextel, and the i710's always have better signal compared to the i730's. The i860 gets as good a signal as the i710 (but its significantly more expensive too).

I am not sure why two phones based on the same hardware and software have such drastic differences in signal. The only thing I can think of is some hardware added to give the i730 an external screen somehow interferes with the antennae hardware somehow.

Other than signal strength compared to the cheaper and basically identical (except for external screen) i710, the i730 is a pretty good phone. Lots of features, solid and durable construction and good battery life. For me signal was more important that a silver case an an external screen but if you like those things the i730 is a decent phone to use. ... Read more

Screen Breaks
This phone was fine for about month, when both screens began blanking out. I took it back to the store and was advised to simply remove the battery for two minutes, then the screen would come back. I did this and it seemed to work. After another month, the screen began blanking out more and more. Finally, after about 5 months of use, the screen would blank out continuously - maybe 15-20 times a day.

Several people I know have the same issue with this phone - it is clearly a defective model. The people in the Verizon store all know this too, since any one of them will tell you the battery trick to get the screen working again. Don't bother with this phone.

Not bad...
First of all, I totally agree with the one reviewer about the manual...IT SUCKS. That is the first thing I noticed. The manual does NOT help at all...it's absolutely worthless. I had to call verizon 3 different times just to get my questions answered. Come on guys....get with the program and put together a decent manual. I agree with everything that the other reviewers said, the phone is really nice but now I am worried about dropped calls being a problem...that is probably going to annoy the heck out of me. The only other thing I have a problem with is that my last phone, a motorola, all I had to do was push the button on the side and say the name of the person I wanted to call and it would automatically dial because I taught it the name. This phone, you hit the button on the side, then you have to say call someone, then you have to say their name, then you have to wait for it to come up with the right one, if not, you have to choose the right one...crap, by the time I do all that, I mind as well just go to my phonebook and get it myself!! TOO MANY STEPS. I would much rather take a half hour and teach it all my contacts and just hit a button and go!

LG VX4500
Very good basic phone, Clear sound and solid for everyday use. Not fancy with bells and such but gets the job done. LCD screen difficult to view in bright light and side buttons can be pressed accidently at times. Overall a very basic but very good phone with some nice features.

LG VX4500
Nice phone, especially without the camera. I've had mine for about two months now. The best feature is the loud and clear signal. The ringer is loud, the voice is loud, and I sound clear to the other end of the line.

The "say something" feature really works well, and it doesn't waste your time learning how to pronounce "Mom," "Deli," "Job" or "Voicemail." It just knows all by itself out of the box.

An annoying feature at first was that if you don't pay attention, it is easy to think you are saving numbers into the memory but you are not. I found that I need to pay close attention to how you are adding the number and to hit "Done" twice when I'm finished.

Keys are large, good for big-fingered individuals like me. Outside LCD display tells you the time or, if you have a new message, how many there are. On the main inside display, you can adjust the font size so the names and numbers are easier to read. The battery charges quickly and doesn't seem to wear down as much as other phones I've had.

Nice phone, excellent for medium to heavy users.

A great phone, especially considering the price
I've had this phone going on 6 months now and usually wait that long before reviewing any electronics product.Ergonomics and design flaws aren't immediately evident until after you've used the item for quite some time.I'm glad to note that the LG VX4500 is an outstanding product with virtually no problems that I've noticed.

The most fantastic thing about the phone is the outstanding battery life.I never actually measured the total talk time I get on one charge, but I usually go 2-3 days between charges and I make many calls in an average day.Also, there's NO CAMERA (a must for me -- if I wanted a camera, I'd buy a camera . . . not a phone), plenty of scheduling/alarm/calender features, and an amazingly loud and crisp speaker phone.

The Driving Mode on the phone has become indispensible to me as I drive around a lot.You can say any name in your addressbook and the phone will dial it.There is no need to sit down and store the voice recording of the names so the phone understands who you mean.You can even say the phone number you want to dial and the phone does that and on incoming calls it'll say the name/number that's calling.

There are a few minor drawbacks.First is the reception.The phone still gets a great signal considering the extensive verizon network out there, but it doesn't receive as well as some of the other verizon phones.A few times, I've been on the phone next to friends who're on verizon as well and I've had my call drop while theirs stayed connected.Even putting this cell phone next to another, you'll at times see this phone with 3/5 or 4/5 bars while other verizon phones will have 5/5 bars.

Second, in Driving Mode the phone will only dial the first number associated with each name.An easy way to get around this is to just put in separate entries for someone's cell, office and home lines if you'll be calling them often using the Driving Mode.

Overall, the phone is great.It fits well into the palm of your hand.It doesn't feel clunky or heavy and has nice rounded features so as to feel unnoticable when in your pocket.It's a great phone at a great price. ... Read more
