Getting on the Internet is easy with the T637, as well. It supports the GPRS protocol for speedy downloads and wireless Web access. Cingular's MEdia service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get sports scores, download games and ringtones, and more.

The T637's Bluetooth capability lets you connect, wirelessly, to a laptop, a PDA, or another Bluetooth phone, and users of Apple computers can synchronize their calendars and contact information with the T637 using iSync, Apple's free synchronization software.

A number of handy tools come with the phone, including a memo pad, a calculator, business card exchange, a calendar, and a tasks list. There's also a full-featured clock, which includes a stopwatch, an alarm, and a handy timer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good phone!
I purchased this phone after the screen on my Nokia 3200 cracked :(.This is a great phone and works really well with Cingular's GSM Network.I wish it had a speakerphone but the clarity between the jabra bluetooth headset I got and the phone is excellent.AIM on the phone is sloooow but I had the exact problem on my Nokia so I think it might be Cingular's network.Another thing is that I stored all my numbers on my SIM card but this phone cannot read them straight off the card. You first have to copy the numbers to the phonebook and that was a little tedious. However it only took about 10 minutes to copy 20+ numbers to the phone's memory.

The calendar and calculator are excellenty designed and are very easy to use.The alarm clock is also great in that you can schedule a recurring alarm for each day of the week.

The camera does take grainy pictures and requires just the right amount of light so things do not look washed out or like an ultrasound.

Cingular's phone service is excellent as well.I haven't had any dropped calls or calls that have gone straight to voicemail.Cingular's customer service, like some carriers, is almost hit and miss.Sometimes I call and get someone extremely knowledgable and helpful and then sometimes I will get someone who does not understand what I'm asking. While those situations have gotten better it does seem that a few reps could use more training about the data capabilities of Cingular phones.I was having trouble sending pictures when I first got the T637 and I was transferred to a Tier 1 tech then a Tier II tech.It turned out to be that my phone needed a download but it took over an hour for them to figure that out.

I am pleased with this phone, and Cingular, but I wish it had a speakerphone and that Cingular would improve the speed of the AIM service.Tmobile's AIM was always quick, when I had coverage that is.

5-0 out of 5 stars yixin li do you know how to use a cellphone?
this is just a quick response to lixin li who dissed the ericsson T637 for the big internet m-mode button that charges you when 'accidently' hitting it. well if you knew anything about the phone you would turn on the automatic keylock and not have this problem. well, what do you know? there...no more charges. thanks sony for a great phone. [i had to clear this up because its people that lixin li who diss a great phone they dont even know how to use]

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome phone
This is a great phone with excellent battery life.I can usually go four or five days without having to recharge the battery. That's just awesome. The ringer volume is loud and the screen is bright. You'll never have to pay for a ringtone or game again thanks to the excellent Bluetooth support.

Performance of Java games is sluggish - that's my only complaint. You may want to spend some time searching for Mophun games, as those are much more responsive and smooth.

A lot of the negative reviews here make reference to the 'online' button being too-easily-pushed.That may be true, but let me tell you something. This isn't a flip-phone.This is a 'candy-bar' style phone.Non-flip-phones usually have a mechanism that 'locks' the keypad when the phone isn't in use so that random buttons don't get pushed when they're in your pocket or purse or whatever.

If you're too stupid to turn this lock on when you're not using the phone (or to enable the auto-lock function) then you don't deserve to own a mobile phone, period.

2-0 out of 5 stars Didn't care for it.
I had this phone through Cingular, and I had alot of problems with it.
First of all, the small size and crammed arrangement of the buttons made it hard to type a phone number in. The keys are slippery, and thus my fingers were always "missing".

Second, the "online" button on the side is way too easy to push, and my phone was always connecting to the internet when I was least expecting it, and running up charges.

Third, Cingular doesn't make it easy to see if you're roaming or not on this particular phone, which accounted for $3,000 in spurious roaming charges being accrued over a course of 3 months. This, combined with Cingular's really bad customer service (they kept shutting my phone off, and the regional director finally had to personally intervene in my case) made for one BAD experience. Translated: DON'T buy this phone if you live near the Canadian border, cuz this phone won't tell you if you're roaming or not.

Better yet, steer clear of Cingular as well.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great phone...but not for everyone.
First of all, let me say this is a great phone. I will note a few important things:

1. It is a smaaal phone. The buttons are small. If you have a large hand or fingers, its going to be hard to grasp the phone properly. I have average hands and it was hard for me!

2. No Speakerphone...this is a huge downside.

3. There is an online button 'conveniently' accessable which can be mistakenly pressed and you'll never know you went online and you were being charged.

4. Camera sucks. It is a VERY BASIC one,... you have to be standing within 2 feet of the subject to get a recognizable picture.

Pros:
1. Crisp, Large display
2. Sleek looking
3. Lot of great personalization tools within the phone
4. Bluetooth
5. Better reception than most phones ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good One.. surely not the Best one
The colour of the phone is absolutely great when compared to its prior model T610. The screen resolution is good, but the photos taken with the camera doesn't come well, ofcourse it solves the tiny purposes on the go. Bluetooth connectivity is great.. I have a good time making it synchronize with my laptop and also transfer the images across. Over all, its a great phone at a great deal (I got $200 back :))

2-0 out of 5 stars It only gets more annoying
I won't say there aren't any positives to the phone, but there are some annoying features of the phone that get more annoying.

Slow and clunky interface
The joystick doesn't help -- it never seems to understand down vs. center push when you want it to.Don't expect to have some flexible ways to call or view contacts.

Speaker Location
I've needed to put the phone just at the right spot on my ear, otherwise I can't hear the sound (which is pretty good when you can hear it)

Random Feedback
If you have your stereo system on, you'll get some feedback and think you'll have an incoming call. But no, your phone's causing feedback for no reason at all.Don't leave this phone near your monitor.

3-0 out of 5 stars Average
I purchased this phone when moving to Cingular. The Nokia I wanted was on backorder so I figured I would give another vendor a shot.I had the phone for a week, and it was OK, but it just didn't cut it for me.I wasn't fully satisfied, so I sent it back for the purchase of a Nokia 6230.If I hadn't been previously exposed to the world of Nokia, I might have stuck with the phone. But, I knew what I was missing (features, interface, usability, etc.) and had to turn back.

Notable Pros:

  • seamless Bluetooth integration with Mac OS X iSync (Address Book, iCal)
  • voice dialing (I did not try this feature)
  • nice color screen
  • T9 text input (I personally prefer Multi-Tap, but some may prefer this feature)

Notable Cons:
  • the software on the phone lagged!I would press a button and it would take a second or two to react. This is probably the biggest reason I returned the phone.
  • the interface is clunky, and seems to require several extra steps to get to the items you want (e.g. text messaging, phone numbers)
  • battery life seemed short.I'm not really a big talker, so a battery usually lasts me a week.It was lasting me about 3-4 days.I'm guessing this was due to the color screen.

Features It Should Have But Doesn't:
  • speaker phone
  • additional phonebook information (street address, notes, etc.)

Again, it's not a horrible phone (I like it muck better than the Motorola V180 I have assigned to me at work), it's just not my preference.

2-0 out of 5 stars Alright
This phone is a alright phone.I wouldent have picked it if i saw it upclose. This phone is for a person that just wants a phone to call people.2 stars.

4-0 out of 5 stars please just review the phone!
I wish all you punk dill weed kids would just review the phone instead of talking about the service provider.Christ....there are some people that want an objective opinion about the phone itself. How does it make and receive calls?. Does it hold on to a signal well?. what do you like most about the phone?. Stop talking about the games,or about the service. Reading most of your crap is like reading something a 9 year old would write. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The successor to the venerable MPx200, this quad-band GSM wonder packs lots of Smartphone power into a small package that can provide all your mobile office needs. Loaded with Microsoft Smartphone software, the handset features mobile versions of all the essential Microsoft applications you depend on, including Pocket Outlook, Pocket Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, and MSN messenger. What's more, the unit's software is designed to sync seamlessly with email, contacts and calendar information on your PC.

Design

Click the image to get a closer look at the MPx220's features.
The MPx220's sleek clamshell form factor is more sleek and svelte than it's predecessor's, while retaining the internal antenna design. The 2.0-inch, 176 x 220, 65-color TFT screen dominates the inside of the cover. A smaller, full-color LCD screen, which displays pictures, incoming calls, current time, battery life, signal strength and other information is located on the outside of the cover. The megapixel camera and flash, as well as the speakerphone unit, are also housed on the outside of the cover. A five-way selection button above the number pad allows you to navigate and control the Windows Mobile interface. There are also up/down menu selection buttons on the left side of the device for easy access to basic controls. In addition to a headset jack, a miniSD memory expansion card slot is housed in the unit. The power key and infrared port are housed on the left side of the unit, while a universal charger/USB data port is present on the bottom.

Calling Features
The MPx220 has all the latest calling features folks have come to expect. The built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Vibrate modes and custom WAV and MP3 ringtones can also be set to your preferences so you know who is calling without having to look at the LCD. The included Pocket Outlook software features a contacts list that is cleverly integrated with the phone's dialing functions. Enhanced voice dialing supports voice-to-digit dialing and name recognition for speedy dialing of contacts. The MPx220's voice recognition software supports voice commands from any user, not just a pre-programmed user's voice. Because the MPx220 is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
Designed as a complete solution for people who want to bring their office with them, the unit comes packed with pocket versions of Outlook, Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger. In addition to keeping track of contacts, Pocket Outlook features integrated calendar and email functions. Email support is provided for IMAP and POP3 accounts, as well as corporate accounts. Microsoft's ActiveSync software keeps the device synced with all of your PC's Outlook information (via USB, Bluetooth or infrared connection). Users who want Internet connectivity on the road with their laptop or PDA can select a Cingular data package and tap the MPx220's wireless modem capabilities. The unit supports VPN and proxy Internet connections.

You can use the MPx220's built in Internet Explorer browser for MEdia downloads and mobile web browsing. Cingular's MEdia service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. Traditional text messaging, as well as video, picture and sound messaging are also supported by the phone. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the MPx220 including a voice memo recorder, a calculator, a to-do list, and an alarm clock.

Imaging and Entertainment
The MPx220's powerful megapixel still camera also features video with audio capture capability. In addition to a flash, the camera features a self-timer, multi-frame shooting capability, white balance and color control, as well as a time stamp option. The video camera's capture capability is only limited by the amount of available memory in the unit. The inclusion of Windows Media on the MPx220 means that you can use the handset as an MP3 and a video player, as well. Once again, the amount of music and video you can store is only limited by the unit's memory. For gamers, the phone supports Java-based and Windows Mobile game downloads.

Vital Statistics
The Motorola MPx220 weighs 3.88 ounces and measures 3.93 x 1.89 x .96 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 5.0 hours of digital talk time, and up to 200 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good phone
There are many conflicting reviews of this phone on the 'net. I was a bit skeptical at first and was leaning towards the SMT5600, but finally decided to try my luck and plunged into the Motorola MPX220 waters.

I've had this phone for 2 weeks. Bought it online, unlocked, OEM version (mobilecityonline). The manual is barely usefull, but I did not need it anyway. The windows mobile 2003 is intuitive enough to allow me to navigate the menus and configure it as I wanted.

My service is provided by T-Mobile USA. The phone reception is very good, the volume is good, not very loud, but loud enough. All features work as advertised. I currently use a bluetooth headset, a bluetooth GPS, and transfer files between the phone and my PC using a bluetooth USB adapter.

Data services also work -providing you pay for the service- very well. I have configured it to connect and syncrhonize with Exchange server every 5 minutes, so I'm up to date with my emails, calendar and contacts. MSN IM also works fine and Pocket Internet explorer also works well. Not all sites display correctly in the tiny screen. If you want to navigate the entire internet, I recommend getting Opera for smartphones.

The camera is not up the level of my expetations. It works acceptably well in sunny days in exteriors, but do not even try to use it in interiors or at night. The quality of the V300's camera is much better.

Battery life I've found to be very good. It last about 2 days, but if you consider that the phone establishes a GPRS connection every 5 minutes, in addition to my IM sessions, voice calls, file transfer, powering the mini-SD card, playing videos, etc, the battery is actually pretty good. Since this is a new toy, I'm constantly showing it off and playing with it. I exect it to last longer once I start using it normally.

I have found it compatible with every device I've used. From an iPAQ 4155 (both bluetooth and Infrared), to GPS devices, to other phones (like Sony Ericson models). Activesync also works fine and very fast.

This is my first clamshell so I'm getting used to it. The form factor is sleek, looks very professional.

I have found the voice recognition (not voicetags) is very efficient. it requires quite a number of interactions with the phone but even with my accent, the accuracy is amazing, even with the road noise as a background.

My headset device is a Bluetooth Motorola HS850. Before I was using a BodyGlove bluetooth earpiece. Both work well but the Motorola has a clearer sound.

The phone came originally with firmware 1.32 in chinese. That made me freak out at first when I got it out of the box, but slowly I found the Control Panel, then the regional settings and changed the language to English. I discovered the settings by looking at the icons. I currently have firmware 1.43 which is english only (and spanish), not chinese.

I am very satisfied with the MPX220. I have no complains so far, everything works as I expect. GPRS data connection is very dependable. The bluetooth headset is a blessing. the screen is very bright, although in very sunny and bright days it may be difficult to see, but in my experience, that happens to every phone I've had (mostly Nokias)

I have installed several applications: Opera browser, Agile messenger (Yahoo, AOL, ICQ), Sprite backup, Connected bits weather report, and Pocket TV MPEG player. All work very well. The phone hasn't hung or restarted itself ever

I do not like the fact that Motorola used its aold full connector, instead of a simple USB cable. I also would've preferred the phone used a standard SD card, and not the mini SD it uses, that had me buy yet another card for the phone. I currently have a 256 MB mini-SD where I store all the programs and documents, so I reserve the phone memory to run programs.

The clamshell design feels solid when fully open, but when closed, the door feels a bit more shaky, but again, this is my first clamshell, so I'm not sure if all are the same. My wife's Samsung feels more secure though.

The phone is also a quad-band world-phone (850/1900, 900/1800) so it works everywhere (Europe, Asia, America). It is in my opinion, targeted to professionals who travel and need to keep connected all the time.

Final words: this is not a phone you need, this is a phone you want. If you have to have the lastest gadget, you like computers, and you are going to use all the features, and more important, if you can afford it, then go ahead. If you just want to ge a phone to make phone calls and take a picture, there are other cheaper models, easier to use available out there. Remember this phone is actually a computer that makes phone calls, it runs Windows (windows Mobile 2003 second edition) so you need to be familiar with computers, file managers, etc to work with it.

Many people complain about the phone and I realized that in many cases, they just don't know how to use the phone. If you are familiar with computers in general, and windows in particular, then the user interface is very intuitive, if you don't like computers, you are going to hate this phone. The documentation that comes with the phone is not going to help you at all, and you are going to be frustrated.

Hope this helps you make an informed decision when evaluating this phone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Luck of the Draw
Since there is so much discussion pro and con about this phone with little in between I feel I should share my story. My experience has been a bit differentand VERY frustrating to say the least.I spent about a month choosing this phone...shopping the Cingular Store, Best Buy and various Internet sites, reading the reviews and making several calls to ATT and Cingular Customer Service. I learned that if I wanted the best price there was NO way I could keep my number..the only way to keep my number was to go to another carrier or buy direct from Cingular. I am a long time ATT customer and technically was moving to Cingular and definitely choosing a more expensive plan...but that meant nothing. This is a Cingular thing..has nothing to do with Amazon or any other seller. I DID shop the other carriers and decided I wanted to stay with the new Cingular which then limited me to Cingular phones..I wanted Blue Tooth which left me with a choice of 3 phones at the time I was shopping...PDA's excluded.I did not like the feel of the RAZR and did not like the looks of the 551, nor the features, or I should say lack of features...this left the MPX220 which I loved the look and feel of, the big screen and the full internet capability, although I may never even use that????? I learned that I was probably not going to be able to access my mail which is on a cable network with most of the other phones out there...I would need a real internet connection. This may or may not be true, but was what I was told. I also learned to not believe everything I was told by even the most knowledgeable sounding sales people. .

I finally decided to buy from Amazon because of their phenomenal rebate offer and their good prior track record with me. I chose Super Saver Shipping...after all I had upon occasion gotten overnight service from their service center located only a few hours away andthe items I was ordering were in stock and available for overnight shipping if desired!!!!!!...I was dismayed to find the projected shipping date was 2 weeks out...and of course when I went to change the shipping to overnight it was already "being prepared for shipment" although the day was a week away!!!! Then I was informed my phone had been activated and shipped....from clear across the country it was a week in transit and all the while I was paying for phone service which I could not use!!!!! It finally arrived...and there was NO SIM card enclosed!!!!! Talk about frustration!!!!! As you may know getting a phone # for Amazon can be a challenge and I wasn't sure who I needed to call...I had never had a phone with a SIM card and wasn't even sure what to be looking for or if it should come with one???...this was on Thursday...and when I finally got a living person the Cell phone dept was closed...I was toldsomeone would contact me the next day...next I got an e-mail asking me to double check....which I immediately responded to and never heard back from anyone...so I called ...this being Friday afternoon...I was told one would be shipped overnight...of course this meant it would not arrive until Monday!!!! And I was stillpaying for a service I couldn't use...the lady I talked to said I could go buy a card and Amazon would reimburse me and to refuse the shipment of the one they were sending... which is what I did....

So on to the phone...Everyone was right.... the documentation is incredibly lousy and incomplete ...the sound is barely audible...and I could hardly hear it ring... I was also frustrated at the menu process required to get to the vibrate option and dialing #1 for voice mail did not work. I also found myself having to re-charge the battery WAY too soon. I spent the next week getting acquainted with the phone...learned along the way what "my" voice mail phone # was...this was done through Cingular customer service...the first person I talked to gave me the # but since I was calling from the phone she was not able to help me get it set up to work with the #1 key...I called back later that day and a very nice man walked me through the process (a few steps in the setup menu)dialing #1 now works flawlessly. About a week after I started with this phone it inexplicably died!!!! Fully charged battery and all...Amazon sent a replacement overnight...and OH MY!!!! What a difference!!!...even some of the screens were different...and the volume was fine and I could hear it ring...! I had beentruly struggling with what I was going to replace it with when it died and got replaced...I was so happy with the new version I never again considered exchanging it.

The documentation is still lousy...it took a visit to the Cingular store to discover the "quick" way to set the phone to vibrate...withouttraveling through myriad's of menus. If that information is in the manual I have yet to see it and I have read it pretty thoroughly...and I still have many questions on other functions.

My biggest complaint is the tiny indistinct icons that indicate you have a message waiting and all the other things that are going on with the phone at any time....I was stunned to have people tell me they hadleft a message...I had not seen any indication of this...after all it plainly says in words if you have text messages... so why wouldn't the voice mail messages be as obvious???....I finally found that a tiny icon (don't know what it is even supposed to represent?) over the LARGE blue envelope means there is voice mail...who knew??? And I don't understand the row of large colored icons that don't seem to indicate anything other than features you have or have recently used...pretty but non functional as near as I can see. Most of the home screen contains things I do not use, but there is no way to remove the ones I don't use or add the ones I would like...or if there is I haven't found it.

All things consideredI am loving this phone now and especially the Blue Tooth...what fun...I no longer have to carry or wear my phone...it can stay safely in my purse or pocket...I can wander away from it and not miss a call...it is the greatest... the manual plainly states Voice Dial will not work with the Bluetooth, Lord knows why not???? What I have found is it disconnects the head set while you are giving the commands and since you need to be watching the screen or simply listening to the phone with your other ear at this point anyway I see no huge issue...and as soon as the number is ringing it reconnects the headset...Works for me!

For the people who have had the phone shut down for no reason I have not experienced this at all. My Cingular network coverage seems to be the same as it was with ATT but I understand this may not be the case in other areas.

I hope this helps clarify some of the issues I have seen addressed over and over... My final thought is ..It is the Luck of the Draw! You may get one with no problems ...or not.

Oh, and I can only say good things about all the people in theAmazon Cell Phone Dept who helped me along the way...they did everything they could to make things right. My compliments to them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb phone
I have been using this phone for past 8 months now and the phone is great. There has been lot of complaints of volume outdoors but I find my phone good even outdoors ... I have amplified the ringtones ...The features are great.

1-0 out of 5 stars Please do not buy even for a 'cent'
I have had this phone for 4 months bought through amazon. I have never written reviews before but decided do one for this, because of the poor design.
1. Volume is really bad outdoors, hard to hear inspite of having high volume.
2. Battery recharger adaptor connection to the phone sucks big time. It became bad very soon and I already replaced as the pins in the phone for charging became bad. Once again I am having issues with the new phone. It is really a poor design like feathertouch controls. Remember I don't handle my phones rough. You can't see a scratch.

anyway, please opt for other ones if you can.

1-0 out of 5 stars MPX220 disappointing: bluetooth is NOT bluetooth
I have learned the hard way that bluetooth is not universally compatible. My experiences: the MPX220 is not compatible with my 2005 bluetooth capable car which uses an integrated Motorola bluetooth compatibility module. (The car maker has found other Motorola bluetooth phones, like the Razr, compatible). Neither is this phone fully compatible with my Palm Tungston T5 bluetooth device as the Palm can't dial or access the web browser per its capability, but can exchange a file. Finally, using the Motorola 850 bluetooth headset, one cannot use the voicedial features as the phone only allows this on a WIRED headset. So don't expect full bluetooth functionality as advertised. Further, the speakerphone feature is virtually useless as it is both too soft and distorted to be useful in other than a pindrop quiet setting. The battery life is very short for a GSM phone. The backlight feature does not have a short enough time for turning off to conserve the battery. If you like to autolock you phone on turnoff this one is not for you. The autolock function only works on a time basis and the longest period is one hour. If I had learned about the lack of compatibility in my 30 day window I would have gotten rid of this poor device. I spoke to both Motorola and Cingular about the shortcomings of the phone once I found it did not meet my expectations for compatibility and neither was helpful regarding exchanging the phone for a model which would perform as advertised. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars I could give a zero star if I had the option here!
This phone is the quintessential example of cool looking crap!! I do not believe that you can find anything that serves it's purpose in a less satisfactory way than this phone. It just refuses to get any reception. The "how many bars do you have" ad is a joke with this phone.

Drops calls even before you can get through. The processor redefines the word "slow". The resolution is so bad that you can count the number of pixels on the screen with a naked eye.

The only good things are the voice dialing and the sound recorder. But what is the point when you just CANNOT make a call???

Do not buy this phone if the intention is to actually talk to people on it...coz it just won't let you do that. Might just work as a microphone for sound recording though. But then you have better options for that too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good over all phone, with a design problem (charging)
I've found this phone to be quite a good phone for my purposes.I use it heavily with Bluetooth for Internet access via my Palm and Laptop, and with a wireless headset. It's basic, small, holds a charge for a LONG time, and seems to work quite well for me.

After having my phone less then a year, I did find a major design flaw with the phone if you don't want to open it up and start soldering. The connections on the bottom of the phone solder directly to the board in the phone. If you're not careful from the day you get the phone in putting the charger on and off, the solder connections break.I started having to wriggle or tap the phone until it took a charge. It got bad enough I could not get it to charge anymore.Cost to repair (not covered by warranty) was more than a replacement phone.I opened mine up and re-soldered and it's been fine since. But if you're buying this and don't want to fix it, either be very careful about the force you use, or consider another phone. The connector really snaps in and out, so being gentle is easier said than done unless you're VERY conscious of it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Has not been a great phone.
Been using for over two hears. The first week, the volume button on top left disappeared.Phone was replaced by Amzn.Bout six months later it stopped taking a charge.Amzn replaced again. Now, about a month ago the same volume button disappeared yet again, but now it's out of warranty.Volume is okay but can't adjust because button is gone.In addition, phone seems to be creaking now when I hold it and begin to press buttons, as though the frame work is getting lose or something. Also, sometime the phone won't turn on or if on, won't turn off - if I take out the battery and reinstall, it begins again to work, like it resets contact or something.Time to replace this phone. This phone was not cheap and I've hung in there with it, but only used it for one or two calls a day with no great demands on it.Calls have been generally good with very few dropped calls and T-Mobile service and customer service has been pretty good, even when out of area. But, that said, it has been a small delicate phone and overall I'm pretty displeased with it and wish I'd gone with a good flip phone instead.Would not do it again. Now looking for a sturdy phone with good reviews but cingular reviews don't seem very good.

2-0 out of 5 stars ONE of the worst
This phone is not the greatest. It has poor resolution and bad reception. This is an exception to sony's other phones. Try the T226 model or anything higher. The T637 is a fantastic phone with good reception and great qualities. If you want to wait, the S710A is coming out soon and it is an unbelievable phone. It has better features, camera, and wireless connectivity than even the Motorola RAZR. Try it instead. Just dont go with the lower models from sony, as they are not as good as their usual superior electronics. And, hey. You get what you pay for. This phone is negative money from most places. Just go with FREE and get the better phone.

3-0 out of 5 stars Does you well if you give it TLC, but skip it
[...]
All the bad things you read about it are true.

The worst for me are:
Bad reception
Speaker sounded like it was blown out (static voices) after 11.5 months (just before warranty expired, so luckily I got a new one).

Bad things that I've adapted to / don't care about:
Dust gets in the screen
Resolution makes pictures on it worthless
Crappy ring tones (a couple I like)
Slow menus
Phone sometimes "freezes" and must be "reset" (remove battery, replace battery)

Good things:
Synchronization with MS Outlook and other applications!!
Infrared and Blue tooth connection
Internal modem for wireless internet (great, especially if you have free calls at nights :). But the modem is SLOW.

Overall, I've been satisfied, but not without sacrifice. At this point, this phone is around 2 years old and outdated. You can make a better purchase than this now. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Average
I have been using this phone for almost a year now.

Pros:
1.Looks sleek
2.Nice games (Mini-Golf etc)
3.Bluetooth is cool
4.Plays mp3, wav files as ringtones
5.Camera is alrite. Photos in bright light are good.

Cons
1.Bad reception (as compared to Nokia phones. My fone wouldnt work whereas friend's Nokia would work at the same location)
2.Hangs (Freezes) once a while
3.Some menu are hard to navigate (lot of clicks required)
4.Display difficult to see in bright light

4-0 out of 5 stars Hey, not so bad
I got this phone for -$200 about a year ago, so I was willing to forgive a lot of problems. It actually turned out to be a decent phone.

Pros:

1.Bluetooth with wireless Jabra headset, syncs up nicely with my Mac.I'll never go back to using a phone without the wireless headset.

2.Intruitive, computer-like interface

3.Good vibrate function

4.Nice long battery life

5.Works pretty much everywhere these days, including travel abroad.Reception started good and got better after a CSR fiddled with it at the mall.

6.Addictive mini golf game.

Cons:

1.When it's sunny outside, it can be VERY difficult to see the phone. You need to retreat into the shade or try to decipher the glare.

2.Certain functions are buried in menus. If you want to get rid of the envelope from a voice mail, you need to go through 8 menus to get there.I'm also forgetting the 18 menus you need to set a speed dial, for example.

3.Reception certainly not as good as Verizon, for the most part, but they charge through the nose, too. It's a trade-off.

4.Quiet ringer.I keep the ringer at maximum, but I still can't hear it if I'm out of the room.

Overall, it was a good choice, especially considering they bought me four months worth of service for the year.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sony Ericsson T610: great design, bad reception.
First of all, I've used Sony Ericsson T610 with both Cingular and T-Mobile service and found them comparable in Los Angeles (Verizon is best here). From comparing all three phones (Nokia 6230, Sony Ericsson T610, and Motorola V551) with Cingular service, I've discovered that there is a *BIG* difference in phone reception quality.

Phone reception quality is as follows: Nokia 6230 > Motorola V551 >> Sony Ericsson T610. The Sony Ericsson T610 had no reception in my apartment, the Nokia 6230 has great reception everywhere.

Overall phone quality: Nokia 6230 > Sony Ericsson T610 >> Motorola V551. (Though if reception is most important, you might rank Motorola V551 over SE T610.)

Here are pros/cons of Sony Ericsson T610:

PROS:
-Bluetooth: easy to sync contacts, photos, etc. w/PC, no additional software required => great.
-Great battery life
-Great display resolution, better than Nokia 6230.
-Nice OS design: easy to navigate, easy to read menus, ex. "silent" is handy
-Small, sleek, cool-looking, phone
CONS:
-Bad reception!
-Phone freezes sometimes. If turning on/off doesn't fix, try removing (and then re-inserting :) battery.
-Sometimes keylock doesn't work and phone calls contacts.

I recommend this phone if you have a good service provider for your area.It is cheap and easy to use. (Though, be wary of service providers locking the bluetooth. This hasn't happened to anyone I know, but I've heard that it's been a problem.)If I had reception in my apartment, I would have kept the T610 and sold the new Nokia 6230 on ebay.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good triband phone with decent batery life
I've been using this phone from the past one year. Like any other phone this phone is also not perfect, but hey I got all I wanted from my T610, it never disappointed me.

What I like :

1. Tri-Band :: Many people think that any tri-band phobe can be used overseas. Not true!. Because 900/1800 MHz GSM is standard. With support to 900/1800/1900 MHz T610 is a true world phone.

2. Battery Life :: Very good battery life - one week without charging for me. I generally charge only during weekends.

3. Reception :: Very good reception even in basement. This depends on your location too. Occasionally, between cities on the highway you may notice black spots for 5-10 mins. - Noticed it only once though.

4. Look & Feel :: Very handy and looks little geeky :)

5. Bluetooth :: Nice add-on. I love my Jabra headset.

What I didn't like

1. Sluggish Java :: Performance of Java is very sluggish. Loading of games can take 20-30 secs. (At first I thought I've to reboot)

2. Camera :: Not worth mentioning. Very poor image quality. (What else can you expect from a < mega pixel camera).

3. Memory :: Very limited memory and no expansion slot :(

4. Voice Dialing :: Doesn't work very well. Agreed, comes handy while driving. Make sure to roll up all your windows and turn off radio.

5. Joystick :: Not real joy operating it.

Overall, I think it is a good buy. Esp if you are looking for a good true world phone with nice battery life.

1-0 out of 5 stars cute phone - bad hardware and really bad customer support
This phone completely froze on me after exactly a month after the warranty expired (1 year from purchase)and now reboots regularly at intervals of 10 minutes.
I called customer support at t-mobile who couln't help in anyway except making me do a master reset and and I lost all my data. The phone still freezes and regularly reboots on me - I guess I can use it as a paperweight now.
The entire time the phone actually worked the T-Mobile service sucked BIG TIME

The only reason I'm giving it a one star is because thats the lowest I can get.
Pleaaase don't ever buy this phone and plase don't use T-Mobile ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Elegant, Durable, and Powerful
After doing my bit of research and reading a couple reviews on the Nokia 7610, I decided to get this phone with my new plan. My previous phone was a Samsung e715, which was good for the first 6 months before the screen turned washed out looking. For my second phone, I wanted something that could handle more functions, was more customizable, and could expand with my needs. Basically, I wanted something between all the other cell phones and a full fledged PDA. The Nokia 7610 was perfect because it had the good build quality that Nokia stands for but also uses the Symbian 60 v7.0 operating system. It is essentially a smartphone. People who are looking at this phone have to realize that it is not intended for people who want to use it for one reason only. This phone comes with a 1.2MP camera/videocamera, Bluetooth, speakerphone, a mini MMC expansion slot (with 64mb card included), and one of the best LCD screens around. In addition, a USB cable is included, so you can download programs, mp3s, themes, ringtones and send them to your phone. Tactile response is pretty good. Actually, I'd say it was a little "too" good since the buttons might seem to give a noisy "click" sound to some people. But hey, at least they're not mushy and hard to press. The speed of the operating system is pretty good as well. I heard that the Nokia 6600 seiries phones had lagging problems when turning on the phone or opening programs. It seems this problem has been fixed in the updated OS here. Overall, I'd say this is close to the most perfect phone I could imagine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible Service, Awesome Features
Let me first start by talking about service. I have seen many reviews that complained about service or more often the customer service of a carrier. Customer service is unrelated to the phone itself, but service is not...The reception this phone gets is incredible. Wherever I go I always have full-service reception. My buddy placed his Nokia 3620 real near my 7610 (both ATT Cingular), to gauge how much of a difference the phone really makes in reception, and I had 3 more bars!!This is a new generation smart phone vs. another (older gen) smart phone, too, not comparing CZ to diamonds.

Now to move on to features. This phone has everything you could want. The to-do list and calendar features are very in-depth and useful. Combined with Nokia PCSuite and the cable driver from the Nokia website, you can seamlessly transfer files back and forth between your PC/laptop and your phone. I am like a kid in a candy shop with this feature and am working on assigning a different mp3 for all of my friends and family! Sound comes through much clearer on this, playing true MP3s, not MP3s converted to WAVs like on the 3620. Only drawback is that Cingular does not recognize that this phone has the feature in my area, probably because (as the local cell phone shops said) it is 'not available in the Colorado market.' I have no desire to pay $2.49 per ringtone from them anyways, so this is not a problem for me and I doubt the rest of you are inclined to either. This phone also has the capability to record up to 10 MINUTES of video! All I can say to that is WOW. I have not ventured anywhere near that length (1-2 minutes is all so far) but the quality of the video is incredible, especially considering the source (a phone). This is also a Bluetooth phone, so you can do all the things Bluetooth does.I have only transferred files via Bluetooth, but the process was slow, most likely due to the older OS of the receiving phone. The Symbian OS on this phone is just plain fast, no lag whatsoever, runs seemlessly. The 64MB card that is included with the phone is also great, but fills up fast when you are uploading mid and high quality MP3s at 4-5 MB or more per. Would have been nice if they had included a card with more, but for $199 I am only being wishful bordering on greedy.I would defientely call this phone a serious deal and highly reccomend purchasing it.Get this phone, two bills, letstalk clearer. ... The 6820's XHTML browser provides high-speed data transmission via GPRS or EDGE, and access to work and private POP3 and IMAP4 email accounts. You can also send MMS (multimedia messaging service) packets containing combined image, video, text, and voice clips to compatible phones or PCs. To expand your phone's functionality, you can download additional Java applications to add to the ones already included with the phone: E-mail Client, Instant Messaging, Converter, World Clock, and Portfolio Manager, among others.

You can also sync up your organizer data with your PC wirelessly via your Bluetooth connection, using the included software (Sync ML or Nokia PC).

Cameras, Fun, and Games

An integrated CIF digital camera lets you take 352 x 288 pixel photos, which you can view on the phone's 4,096 color display, or send to your computer or via MMS to a friend, using the XHTML internet connection. The camera provides night shooting mode, a self-timer feature, and a video clip recorder. Additionally, you can add thumbnail-sized photo images to contacts in your phone book, change your graphical user interface with a variety of themes, and download new ring tones to add to the onesalready included with the phone. 1-0 out of 5 stars First and last time I buy a Nokia...
This going to be one long story....

I bought this phone in July 04, and started having problems with it by Thanksgiving. It stopped charging.First I thought it was the charger, but tried it with another charger, did not work.Tried the charger with another phone, it worked.Turns out the "charging port is defective."Before I sent it for repair/replacement, it started working again. The trick was you have to slide in the charger's pin at a certain angle.Oh well, being as lazy as I am, I continued to use it that way.

Then sometime around January, I realized I was missing calls because the phone was choosing not to ring sometimes! No, the ringer is not turned off or anything; it just does not ring.

Shortly after that, the backlight on one side of the keyboard when flipped open stopped lighting up.Half the keys are not visible in dark.

To top all off, when battery is almost empty, and I slide the charger pin in at a special angle, and the phone recognizes the charger, I started occasionally seeing the "Battery Full" message on the screen. It's got a mind of its own, will not charge when does not feel like it.

I started asking around, and realized the "Battery Full" problem was actually common.

My carrier is (was) ATT, and they have this replacement guarantee, which I tried to benefit from. They ask questions to figure out if the problems are because of misuse.Yes, I dropped it, but not in water, not on concrete.Yes, there are scratches on it, but I put it in my purse along with my keys and stuff, sure it's going to get scratched. It does look used, but not abused or over-used.So ATT tells me, they'll send me a brand new replacement, and they'll inspect the faulty one that I return to them.If they inspect and decide it is a usage problem, then they're going to bill me for the full price of the phonewhich at the time $400.Thank you, but NO thank you.Even if it really is my fault the phone has all these problems and I am going to end up paying for a new phone, I'd rather not pay $400, and definitely not for the same Nokia.

I've used cell phones from other manufacturers. My first-ever was an Ericsson that I used for 5 years with absolutely no issues (other than, of course, battery change) until it was too bulky and unfashionable to carry around.I figure it's not my usage, but the phone's quality that's the problem.

Anywayssss, I sent the phone to Nokia's own repair center to get fixed. That was exactly 21 days ago.Status?Still waiting for parts! And no idea how much longer I will wait.

Moral of the story, too many problems in too short a time -> low quality product

Too slow response to repair -> not good customer service

Unhappy customer -> never-to-buy-another-Nokia customer

5-0 out of 5 stars Gr8 phone...as far as its intended functionality
This is an awesome phone.....But its not for everyone....The primary users should be those who are messaging addicts...Do not buy it for its camera feature

4-0 out of 5 stars Finally a phone that not a toy.
For some reason cell phone makers keep moving into making more phones that are more like toys. Musical ringers and games couldn't matter more to me.I recenty got this phone and have phone i really like.A couple of feature that I really enjoy are:

1.Its easy to read the text on the screen. And in some applications you can even adjust the text size.

2.Fast user input.I'm use to typing on text messages on a normal keypad, but the option of opening up a qwerty keypad is a nice change.

3.Access to my POP email. This was the selling feature for me.The phone has an application that I can set to download email from my business account directly to the phone. This is much better then using the browser.

4.Speaking of browser, it has a decent one, but the EGPRS data transfer is the best part.Very fast.

5.Bluetooth Connectivity.I can backup my contacts, notes, pictures, etc right to my PC.And if you have Outlook, you can have a full sync to your phone.(If you have Outlook Express like me, you can only sync your contact list.Still good enough.)And i'm looking forward to using it with a headset soon.

6.It has normal ringers.I know thats not a big thing nowdays, but I like my phone to sound like a phone.I'll totally miss it if its some musical melody or song (and it comes with a few musical ringers if you must have one. They don't sound half bad and you can download more.

7.Sound quality is great.People can clearly here me.And the speaker phone works well, even in the car.

The reason i'm giving it 4 stars is because there are a few areas Nokia could have improved on.The battery life on the phone runs about 3 days on a normal charge. Its not that bad a headache, but I've used a few 6 day battery life phones. Also, while the screen color and has some tight pixels, its also has a slow refresh. And the camera quality is very low.I didn't get it for the camera, but I've seen much better quality on other phones.

Overall this is a phone that I am very pleased with and it may be replacing my palm soon as I can more comfortable with it.I would suggest this phone to anyone who likes to have access to their email has a good serious business phone.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nokia really missed out with this phone
This phone has a large array of features that you think would be useful. If you are wanting a camera phone...go somewhere else..liek the lg1400...I love Nokia...but this phone takes small tiny pictures...even for a camera phone...and dont even dare think about shaking any..lol....It is a novelty cam at best...other cams offer twice the resolution...The screen is small and not too sharp....and it does NOT have a speakerphone...it is called a loudspeaker...Cingular was quick to point that out to me. It is no where close to what you hear motorolas volume at. Especially the nextels ..which can be too loud....I find myslef having to put it on loudspeaker if I am in a noisy place and holding it up to my ear....the volume just isnt too great overall...or maybe I am just going deaf at 26. It is a cute and small phone...nice conveniant size...and the keyboard is surprisingly easy to type on...I have enjoyed that part of the phone a lot..The battery life is nothing like what amazon reports it at....so dont get your hopes up there...Nokia is taking a step in the right direction with this phone...and they have a lot of useful orginizational tools here...just treat it as a mid grade phone that introduces you to the nicer things and you will be fine. These newer phones are not as sturdy as the old 5100s and such so be careful...:)...

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome phone!
This phone is great because:
1.It has a QWERTY keyboard.
2.There is a camera.
3.You don't have to press numbers to write a message.
4.It includes the phone, charger, battery, and headsets.
5.You can download gmes, applications ,and ringtones.
6.The phone has a videorecorder that records a while.
7.The phone has a recorder also.
8.It is very easy is to send a message because it is made for messaging.
9.This phone is great! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone - Small, light, and versatile
I've had this phone for about two weeks now.

OK, I'm no phone guru.Previously, I've owned one phone - a Samsung flip-phone for four+ years. That was a great phone, but the hinges on the flip cover had started to break after so many years, and quite a few falls too I might add.

But, I can say the AudioVox is a great phone.Put it this way, three employees at the Cingular (ex-AT&T) store where I got it ALSO have one - so that's an endorsment from peope who ought to know what's good.

It's very small, very light and very cool!

It has:

- Microsoft "Smartphone" operating system.
- Camera - with tons of settings to alter the image
- Video Camera - ditto on the settings
- Ability to store 1GB of files (music, movies, whatever) on a Mini SD cards
- Bluetooth
- Infrared
- Ability to have e-mail PUSHED to the device - like a Blackberry -- but the "unlimited data" plan from Cingular is only $25 / month -- which is cheaper tan for a Blackberry.
- It took all my Outlook Contacts easily.Synching is a cinch!
- Outlook Calendar appointments can be entered on the phone or synched -- and when ytou are in aan Appointment, the phone automatically goes into "meeting mode" (vibrates, instead of ringing).Cool!
- You can surf the net
- Messenger
- Voice recorder
- Games
- Pocket MSN
- Explorer
- Windows media player 10 - which allows me to listen to tunes on my way to work (remember the 1GB of storage you can have?)
- tri-band that will work in Western Europe also!

The phone is a power miser considering what it's got going on. I charge battery every 2-3 days. When I just use it as a phone, I don't need to charge for 4 days.Right when I got the phone I went online and found a longer lasting battery that the standard one delivered -- but it's so economical on power, I don't think I'll need it!

Anyway, if you're looking to replace the phone you have, you might want to check out the AUDIOVOX SMT 5600.I paid $199 but I just saw it offered for free on a site that sells phones and services.

I switched from Sprint to Cingular, beacuse for my work I need a carrier that offers phones I can use both in the US and in Europe (and not a separate loner or rented phone) -- And I think only Cingular carries this little guy.

AUDIOVOX SMT 5600 - a feature-rich little phone!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best phone available.
The combination of intelligent features, bluetooth, video/audio and Windows Media Player 10 make this the best phone and certainly the best SmartPhone available. With the addition of a 512 MB MiniSD card the phone will hold 34 hours of video.

The only complaints are the rocker button is difficult to click.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Phone ever had
Iam yet to test more functions on the phone. Big screen and more features. Video quality is good.

5-0 out of 5 stars It rocks in everyway
This phone is really a look into the next gen convergence devices you will be seeing in the months to come. Speaker is loud, camera quality is good, gprs is strong, ATT reception in houston is as bad as most people say it is. The only (im being really picky) thing missing is a querty keyboard. However it is well compensated by the great nokia style (maybe even better) T9 typing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Its really that good but....
Let me first tell you that i have researched this phone high and low..

Yes, it is really as good as cheap as it sounds! It has everything....Camera, Bluetooth, IR, USB, Windows Mobile 2003....one GREAT advantage over its strong competitor Mpx 200 is...the miniSD goes in the back which to me is an advantage...who wants a memory card sticking out from the side > Mpx 220

frankly, theres nothing out at there at this price with so many features but let me tell you to keep the following things in mind which collectively made me return the phone.

1. This is a tri-band (forget what all the websites claim that this is quad-band, its not)
2. The phone is great but it is cheap plastic...within 3 days just moving it in and out of pockets scratched the screen with 3-4 scratches..i am very careful not to throw it around or slide it across surfaces but it is very susceptible to getting scratches
3. Im not sure why people complain about this but yes..it has an average quality 640x480 camera, to me this is an emergency snap device, not a carl zeiss quality camera
4. This is a problem with Windows Mobile, not this phone but ofcourse you have to live with the OS in the phone...the more apps you're running ..the slower the phone becomes since they're still in the memory...you have to constantly go to task manager and close them to free memory..just closing an app while using it DOES not close it...it just minimizes it
5. Finally, i absolutely hated the idea of putting in my calendar every day by pressing keys 3 times till i got my letter..if your PRIMARY purpose is data/email, you CANNOT live without a keyboard on the phone...

So far...i still have not found a sub $200 keyboard phone with comparable features of this phone...the hunt goes on :) ... Read more

Sporting a large, 4,096-color display screen and an unconventional, rotary-style keypad, we found the sturdy, feature-rich Nokia 3650 cell phone one of the best designed phones on the market, with excellent ease-of-use, crystal-clear reception, and a camera, video camera, and Internet access.

In our tests, we found that the comfortable rounded base of this 5-inch phone rested easily our palm, and the clever retro button display took only a moment of getting used to. The buttons and disc navigation felt quite durable, with a nice, solid action. Menu navigation involves two thin buttons on the top left and right that allowed us to move in and out of menus; then the standard 4-point clickable disc provided more detailed selection. There's a separate button for the main menu prominently below the disc, and the faux-rotary layout of the number buttons helped keep the navigation buttons out of the way during dialing. The requisite call and hang-up buttons are intuitively marked, and a futuristic-looking blue light shines through the numbers on all the buttons for easy keying in low-light areas.

The 3560 delivered consistent, excellent reception in a variety of testing environments, including a basement-level room that typically causes trouble with similar phones. The default ring tones were a bit too gentle for their own good; they were hard to hear in busy outdoor environments. The tones that we created using the composing feature, however, were quite audible, even in the midst of lots of noise. The vibrate alert was also quite effective and hard to miss. Nokia has also preloaded a variety of other polyphonic ring tones for alternate use, as well as a voice-dialing feature, which stores 25 numbers and was easy to use.

Thanks to high-speed GPRS connection, users can access a variety of Web content, such as news, travel information, and entertainment specifically designed for mobile phones via an XHTML browser, which supports pages written in both HTML and WML (Wireless Markup Language). The 3650's calendar, phone book, and to-do list can all be synchronized with a PC using Nokia 3650 PC Suite software. This phone also supports Java for downloading business applications, and built-in Bluetooth and infrared connections empower users to send photos and text in either e-mail or MMS format to a PC or to another compatible wireless device. Some of the downloadable Java and Symbian applications provided by Nokia through their website include Merriam-Webster Word Search, and games like Racing Fever, Avant Go, and Terminator.

The phone's digital VGA camera is cleverly built in to the back of phone, and can store up to 1,000 photos at 640 x 480 megapixel resolution on its (upgradeable) 16 MB memory card. Also, the Nokia 3650's photo capability is immediately accessible from the top-level display menu, so unlike other phones it was easy to snap a photo at a moment's notice. The camera records images in standard, portrait, and a nighttime mode.

With the same basic set of controls, RealOne software lets the video recording function capture short, low-fidelity sound and video clips for immediate MP4 video playback on the generous screen or for sending to another Web-enabled user. The 15-frames-per-second video recording rate delivers stuttering, delayed images that look sort of like Neil Armstrong's transmissions from the Moon. We found this all very entertaining, and potentially useful for transmitting small bits of information, but hard to take seriously as a true video recording device.

Among the scores of additional features on this phone are text messaging templates, where you create a basic message (like "Let's eat at --- ") then fill in the blank as you wish; a foreign currency and units converter for the jet set crowd, and a "favorites" folder to store Web shortcuts and links. For hearing-impaired customers, Nokia even provides TTY/TDD (Telecommunication Device for the Deaf) compatibility. The headset included with this phone is functional, and Li-Ion battery comes rated for up to 4 hours of digital talk and 200 hours of digital standby time. The phone comes with a refreshingly well-written manual. While decorative faceplates and other accessories are available, we found that even without them, the Nokia 3650 is one of the most coolest phones we've ever laid our hands on. --Erik Hammen

How We Tested Battery Talk/Standby Time

When reading our reviews, you should view the test results of mobile-phonebattery talk time and standby time as relative information only. Many variables, including carrier signal strength at your location, signal consistency(including incoming and outgoing calls), display and ringer settings, andbattery charging methods and history, will affect performance. When handsetmanufacturers and mobile phone carriers list talk-time and standby-time ratings, they usually include disclaimers about variable performance and often refer tothe times they publish as maximum times. Some quote expected battery liferanges, and in this case you're probably safe to assume you'll experience atleast the minimum rated range. Note that manufacturers of dual-mode digital andanalog handsets publish battery-life rates for both digital and analog modes, asanalog mode consumes much more power than digital mode.

Our Tests: We tested digital-mode talk and standby times with each phone.Prior to each test, we fully charged the phone's battery according to themanufacturer's directions. To test digital-phone talk time, we turned the phoneon, established a digital carrier signal, dialed a number in our test lab, and, when the call rang through, took the receiving phone's handset off the hook. When all went well, we didn't do anything else except record the time when thephone died. In a couple of cases, the phones lost the signal and dropped thecalls. If we were right there and could redial, we did so immediately andcontinued running the test. Otherwise, we halted the test, recharged thebattery, and started the test over. Assuming consistent carrier-signal strength, this test should represent best-case talk time. And it's worth noting thatseveral phones' talk-time performance significantly exceeded the manufacturers'ratings.

To test digital-phone standby time, we turned the phone on, established acarrier signal, and left the phone in standby mode. We checked the phone everyfew hours (for what was often days on end) until the phone finally cut out.Since no outgoing or incoming calls occurred during testing and because thephone was not moved, this method should represent best-case standby time, againassuming consistent carrier signal strength.

    5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT PHONE(bluetooth,video,camera,XHTML)
I bought this phone because it was unique. Alot of my friend love to play around with the camera/video, and I don't see very many people walking around with this phone eihter so you'll definetly catch some attention when using it in pulic. I didn't even know of the real capability of this phone until I played around with it.

BLUETOOTH-This has been the biggest pro for me so far. I can send pics, ringtones, files etc. between my phone and computer at NO COST at all. This is great because it saves money by emailing jpegs from your computer rather then sending viaMultimedia Message. I can also use wireless headsets with this. What I really like about this feature is getting REAL VOICE RINGTONES. Even though it won't play MP3'S, I simply convert MP3'S to AMR files on my computer and send them via bluetoooh. It's not the best quality though, but it's something.

VIDEO/CAMERA-These aren't the best quality pics/vids I ever, but they look pretty decent compared to other camera phones. And just the fact that it even got video makes it unique. Infact I managed to download a program from the Nokia website that updates the video recorder to include sound (some people say they don't have sound with their video). I use the camera to take pics/vids of all my friends, and up close the pictues come out pretty good. Only con about this is that the videos are short(9-15 sec.), and there is no zoom in feature.

Apart from that the phone comes w/ every other feature that most other Nokia phones have (calculator, calender, notes, voice recorder, games)

The only cons I can think of is that sometimes when I'm on the phone with someone and 2 or more incoming calls show up, the phone will shut down and restart. As for the loudness of ringtones, I don't even use the default ringtones cause I get real ringtones, which sound off just fine when I get incoming calls. I have a bit of a problem though with turning on and off the Vibrating Alert. When I try to turn it off, it'll turn off and even stay off when I try to turn it back on. Plus it takes about 30 seconds just to turn the phone on, but these aren't major problems. And the size doesn't bother me at all, it fits perfectly in my palm and it doesn't take up space in my pocket, I simply use a belt clip.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 stars for the features....
I have had this phone for well over a year now, and have considered upgrading several times to a smaller phone, but each time decided against it as this phone has every feature I could want.Even Motorola's new top-of-the-line RAZR phone does not have a slot for a SD/MMC card, and the phone is priced at about $500! This one has a card slot and it is two years old. That speaks volumes about the feature-richness of this phone from Nokia.

I am giving this phone a 5 star rating based on the features.Everyone knows this is a large phone- that is not a secret. It has the MMC slot, the Buetooth capability, infrared, in short, just about everything you could want in a phone, without an ultra-compact size. But can it really be expected that a phone with nearly every conceivable function will also be the smallest? Not likely.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great phone, with one problem
Love the phone.I find that the large size fits perfect in your palm and can even be used to prop on your shoulder, unlike many cell phones. There are so many features on this phone, I lose track of time when playing with it.
Now, to the one complaint. The ringtones are not very loud. When I test them they sound great. But when I apply them to a contact and get an incoming call; it is much lower than before. If it is something I have done wrong, please any current users let me know! And yes, I have done the obvious and turned the volume to the fullest.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good phone if it did what it advertises
Nokia advertises "Synchronize your phone book, calendar and to-do list with your PC using Nokia PC Suite 5" on the 3620/3650 phones, but the PC Suite application does not support Office 2003.This was one of the biggest selling points of the phone to me, and I can't use the most popular Personal Information Manager (Outlook 2003) with my phone. It worked with 2002, but 2003 is not supported.

Nokia claims this is because "this PC Suite version was made before Microsoft released Outlook 2003:.This is ludicrous.Office 2003 was in Beta (March 9, 2003) long before the Nokia 3620 was released (October 9, 2003). The development effort could have been completed before the release of the phone (and the supporting PC Suite application) in anticipation of the new (and, of course, widely adopted) Office suite. Furthermore, Office 2003 was released less than 2 weeks (October 21, 2003) after PC Suite was released.

Considering that the egregiously short-sighted decision to release without support for 2003 was made long ago and cannot be changed, one would think that Nokia planned to address this issue with a new version of PC Suite. Not so...

I loved the phone when I could use it as a "PDA-lite".Having all of my contacts and calendar entries in my phone made life easier.I didn't have to carry a seperate PDA, and I got all of my reminders just like I do in Outlook.Since I lost that functionality, I have a high-priced camera phone that I can play some VERY basic games on...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone with only one complaint
I know everyone complains about the size of this phone but for me it is a plus. I simply slip it into my pants pocket with little notice. As I get older my eye sight seems to be getting worse and worse. This is the only phone I have tried that I can read perfectly. It has a large screen, very good contrast, and good detail. Even pictures I take look better because the size of the screen. This phone would get a five but for the keypad, which I understand they have fixed with a newer model. I love the bluetooth feature. It has allowed me to use it as a PDA and link to outlook. It has also allowed me to download free tones and upload pictures to use as wallpapers. I also use a wireless head set. It has so many more options than the phones of my wife and daughters. The speaker phone is loud and clear. I don't use the web features so I can't comment on those features. Typically I like to upgrade to a new phone every year as the technology seems to come out with some new wrinkle that leaves me wanting. I have had this phone a little over a year, and in this case I am perfectly content but for the circular keypad. If I upgrade it will be for the same phone with the traditional cell phone keypad. I hope they continue to make phones this size and readable. Oh by the way, it is built really well. Not many cell phes would be able to fixed after falling into a lake. But this was just needed to dry and be cleaned. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Major pain in the you-know-where
Pros:
-Looks pretty.

Cons:
-UI lags behind button presses in every area.
-Reception sporadic, especially in cars.
-Camera is awful (even at highest resolution, images always look blurred and are sometimes unrecognizable).
-Bluetooth frequently causes phone to freeze up (must be restarted).

And most annoying of all...
-Causes interference with anything with a speaker from up to five feet away.I don't know if it's checking if I have voicemail or what, but almost anything within five or six feet that has a speaker chirps a little machine song every minute or so.I've never had this problem with a phone before and it drives me NUTS.

Either spend the extra money for the T637, or get a different phone entirely - just don't waste your time and patience on THIS.

4-0 out of 5 stars For ringers, can I still use
the muwap.com site they mentioned here a while ago?

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful
Sony's products are known for being very stylish, and this phone is no exception.Everything about it is organized, compact, and very very sleek. The menus are logical, however they take a little getting used to, but overall is very good. One thing that I like in particular is that you dont have to worry about random little things- for example if you're trying to store a number and get a call, it will handle the call, and once you hang up everything you were doing i the contact book will still be there and ready to go.Anyway, overall it is a great phone. The only problem I've experienced i the 5 months I've had it is that the joystick became slightly stuck in the past. It's not much of an issue, but somewhat annoying (although I've read that you can purchase a cheap replacement part if it's really an issue.)Overall, an excellent little piece of technology.

4-0 out of 5 stars Feature Packed Phone
The feature packed t616 cell phone from sony ericsson packs so many features into such a small place that you wonder how the makers did it. With bluetooth, camera, gprs, and other key features, the t616 makes your phone fully capable of doing everything you would want it to do besides making toast. My t616 works very well however sometimes I find it hard to view the screen when I am outside because the sunlight makes it difficult. THe bluetooth is sometimes hard to use but the phone overall works fantastic.

2-0 out of 5 stars Desperate to upgrade.
Just one thing to clarify.Unlike what the previous reviewer said. There is 1 button voice mail retrieval with AT&T wireless. If took me quite a while to figure out... and for the life of me i don't think i could find it again.Just ask a cs rep.

Positives.
-Nice Design, compact easy to carry.
-Pleasing looks.
-Attractive Display.
-Nice standby time.
-Sturdy design.Feels solid.

Negatives.
-Slow button response and sometimes no response.
-The end call button and back button are different buttons. So when ending a call and then starting a new one or using a different function, you have to press 2 different buttons to get to the main menu. With the slight delay in button response and sometimes the buttons don't click when you think they do, it means you have to be looking at the screen otherwise you'll end up in a completely wrong menu.No easy navigation simply by getting used to the feel or buttons.
-This leads into the next and most frustrating problem.Glare.The phone is impossible to see in any sort of overcast or bright situation. And in Seattle, overcast is every day of the year.I've put away my phone in disgust many times because i simply can not read who's calling or can't see who to call or what menu i'm on.Even if you're covering the phone with one hand it's very hard to read.
-This would be less stressful if it had a true speed dial. But the only 1 button speed dial is to voicemail. All other speed dials are 2 buttons. And speed is definately not the key word.Apon starting a speed dial... it takes almost 5 seconds to even start dialing.
-A typical calling situation would be something like this.Grab the phone press 2 buttons to unlock, 2 buttons to speed dial, wait 5 seconds for it to start dialing... wait a little more... look at my phone, cover my phone with other hand and look harder at my phone... realize I still haven't even dialed because one of the buttons didn't respond or it stored a random number before it locked, then get locked out again and start over.
-Photo quality is weak.Photos will look good on screen then look awful when sent.
-Not enough memory and slow storage. If you use the camera, you will constantly be deleting text messages, photos and sounds to make room. And when you do take a picture... it will take 10-15 seconds to take the next picture.
-Poor to average reception quality. It's nice to carry an internal antenna phone, but not to talk on one. Will commonly have 1 bar less than some other phones on same service.

4-0 out of 5 stars Every cell phone company has problems...
AT&T/Cingular:This poor phone is suffering from a rating that is based on some guy saying how he doesn't like AT&T. I've had issues with them too (even issues including identity theft that ended up costing me a lot of money), but I hear horror stories about all cell phone companies. One thing AT&T/Cingular does right is that they don't outsource their customer service (yet) so you can call and speak to someone who you can understand.

Phone: I've been using a 3620 for a while and have had some mixed reactions. Most people really like it, until they get upset when you sneak pictures of them. Visually it's getting to be a bit dated, it is neither small nor sleak. Performance wise, this phone does very well with signal, and I find that I can make/receive calls where other people cannot. There is a problem I have had with the battery and a friend has had the same issue with the 3650. If you set it down somewhat hard or slide your hand wrote across the battery the phone will shut off. In 14 months this has happened to me all of about 6 times during a conversation, and probably 200 times in my pocket. It's annoying to be expecting a call and realize your phone has been off for a few hours.

Recommendation: This is not a bad phone, but my recommendation is you click on the "motorola" section and get a RAZR V3 (they're only $99), they are very sleak, the camera image quality is better, more talk time, and most importantly, a firmly set battery. My brother has been using one for about 4 months and loves it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great and Powerfull Phone !!
I was using the older version the Nokia 3650 with the round keypad when I moved into my new home .. I was receiving marginal service. A friend of mine walked in with the 3620 and was able to use the phone with full bars al lover the house !! .. I switched to the 3650 and BAM !! perfect signal everywhere !! Great phone .. !!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nokia 3620 - Great Phone
I bought this Nokia 3620 about a week ago. Now, I know you are thinking "Well, hasn't had enough time to really see how this phone is going to work," and you are right.I don't know if this phone will stand the test of time, but I do know a few things.

1.This phone's camera is the best that I have seen.My mom just got a Samsung E316.She paid a lot more for her phone, and the picture isn't as good.

2.The phone's big screen makes it easy to read.

3.There are quite a few menu's, but each menu item has a picture, and a caption, so you are sure what each one is.All the menu's are easy to understand. If you are in the text messaging inbox you can see who wrote you the message in bold, and then a preview of the written message below.

I will say though that not everything about this phone is great. The reception of course will vary from service to service.I can't personaly say anything about Amazon or AT&T because I bought my phone at the Suncom store, and they are who I use for service.I will say though that the speakerphone isn't all the great (people often times say they can't understand me), but when I have it on the handset they can hear me just fine.I will also say that this phone is very technical. It requires a lot of patience to learn how to work, but if you have the time, the experience will be rewarding.

So when it comes down to it, buy this phone if you want a good quality phone, that takes good pictures, has good reception, but is difficult to use, and requires a lot of patience.

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon is great.. phone is great, just say away from AT&T
WARNING: AT&T representatives ("Dawn: R361" and "Max: N360") themselves said during my troubleshooting (as detailed below) that I should NOT have bought through Amazon, and that they have received a barrage of complaints from Amazon buyers!I still really like Amazon, but they're integration with AT&T is non existent.People should not have to wait 2-3 days for service after they receive the phone.Buy the same phone on Amazon, but a different carrier.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nothing special
In my opinion the phone sucks. The camera is pretty decent quality not the best i might add, the menus are annoying and make every action you try and perform a prolonged task, and the voice dialing is non existant. The video recorder is definatly not worth the space on the phone because it is a puny 10 seconds long and has incredibly bad graphics to the point the thing your video taping isnon recognizable. The signal is ok in most places with the gsm from at&t (for once) but everything else isn't worth the money.the only time this phone is worth it is from a one day sale off the at&t website.......hoped this help! ... Amazon.com

Take and share pictures with the 3650.
(See detail)

In Calendar, you can keep track of your appointments, meetings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other events. You can also set a calendar alarm to remind you of upcoming events.
(See detail)
With the video recorder you can record video clips, and play video clips stored on your phone or on a memory card. Also, the video recorder is integrated with the messaging features allowing you to easily send created clips.
(See detail)
Nokia 3650 provides various functions, in an-easy-to use interface, such as Camera, Video recorder, Messaging, e-mail, Clock, alarm clock, Calculator, and Calendar.
(See detail)

Pros:

  • Great reception
  • Excellent, intuitive user interface
  • Feature-rich
  • Solid build and large display screen
  • Fun camera and video features

Cons:

  • Large phone size to accommodate large display screen
  • Default ring tones a bit quiet.

4-0 out of 5 stars I had this phone for 2 years and loved it!
This phone is a little clunky, but wonderful! The symbian operating system makes this phone infinitely expandable. Some of the programs you can download and install include: eBook readers (to download and read books from the New York Public Library, for instance), remote control software (to control your TV through infrared or your computer through bluetooth), game emulators (I had hours of fun playing games with a game boy emulator).

The operating system supports multitasking, so you can switch back between a phone call and an ebook without ever quitting either program... so you can turn the speakerphone on, and play a game while you're on hold. I grew to like the circular orientation of the number pad... while confusing at first, it made sense after a while.

Also, since the phone's PIM synced up with my Mac (via iSync), I never had to type a phone number or email address into the phone, which made for speedy usage.

The more advanced nature of the phone's operating system makes it prones to crashing. If a program isn't coded correctly or it crashes, this phone is prone to go into a "reboot loop", where the phone can't start anymore, and the only remedy is to take it back to T-Mobile or Nokia through the warranty. Meaning, if a program crashes your phone (which happened 3 times over 2 years to me), you have to get the phone replaced. Not good. So make sure you have a carrier with EXCELLENT customer service (like T-Mobile, as opposed to Cingular or Sprint).

Overall, I loved the phone, and the benefits far outweighed the costs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bluetooth works great

5-0 out of 5 stars Still one of the best PHONE
I have had my T616 for phone for a year and half with Cingular. For someone who needs a phone with solid and friendly features, this phone still tops the pack.
Call quality is good, and battery life is excellent. I also like this phone's date and time sync with network, so it's updated wherever you go.
I don't think my phone is locked, or at least overseas frequencies are not locked out. I often use it overseas (I normally buy a local SIM card when I need extended stay overseas, so it's a lot cheaper to make and receive calls, both for me and for my local clients and friends). I love this ability because all my contacts are on the phone and I don't need to do anything to use them. You can also edit the phone number before you call, and the change won't be saved, so I can take the country or area code off when I am calling an overseas number locally!
Another feature I love is to store and use calling card. For those who only use cell phone to call US numbers, you probably don't understand the beauty about this feature. Calling overseas directly with your cell phone's international service defiantly will break your bank. There are tons of cheap calling cards on the market (especially buy them online), and you can call U.K. for 3 cents/min or China for 2 cents/min (right, cheaper than domestic long distance). But dialing those access numbers and codes to get connected is a pain when I use landline phones. With this cell phone you can store 2 calling card numbers and codes. Then I just need to scroll to the international number (programmed as 011-country code-area code-number), press "more", choose "calling card call", you are connected!! If one card is not working, you can choose another one. Now I can call overseas any time, when I am driving or traveling or when I am laying on the beach. I make overseas calls several times a week, so this feature has defiantly become essential to me. I had other cell phones before, and still remember when I needed to use calling card, I had to write all the numbers and code on a piece of paper, then dial each one accordingly. What a pain!
Obviously this phone's camera is not worth using. But what's more important for a cell phone?
I surely love some of the newer models, especially SmartPhone with Windows OS. I am looking for upgrade but haven't seen other manufacturer making phones with the features I mentioned above, even some SE's newer high end models don't have these features. So I'll probably have to wait a little longer before I can use some newer gadget.

2-0 out of 5 stars long talk time
I have been using this phone for over a year now. the battery is great. I never have that much talk time in all my previous phones. the bluetooth earpiece is great too especially with the voice dialing. in the other handbad reception (not like nokia, they are the best). I used to be with AT&T and after the became part of Cingular i thought we ganna have better reception... the only thing changed is they offer bad custmer services and less flixable plans...

1-0 out of 5 stars Nice features - NO SIGNAL
This phone would be great IF it had a better antenna. This is my second Sony Ericsson phone on Cingular. Both phones drop calls and fail to pick up a signal when everyone else's phone does.I called Sony and they said that they were unaware of the problem. To demostrate the problem, I have taken my friend's Nokia 6010 and my phone inside a local Walmart. Her phone has a signal, mine says "No Network".Both phones are on Cingular.I used to think that Cingular was the problem, but it is actually the T616.

1-0 out of 5 stars T-616 sucks
The phone sucks big time!!! I don't know why they have the camera in it, at first place.. The camera is useless.. AT&T also sucks.. I had to leave the county and wanted to unlock my phone.. They don't do that for you.. Whereas T-Mobile unlocks the phone for you after you are with them for about 3 months.. Cingular & AT&T both suck big time..

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad Combination
Pos's: Sleek Phone. Phone store is good. Good Ringer.

Neg's: Poor reception. Poor volume. Worst camera. Don't consider this as a camera.. Horrible game. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The BlackBerry 7100t is the first of its kind-- a fully-featured mobile phone that delivers the power of BlackBerry e-mail. This is one sweet little phone, loaded with all of the cool features you want, like integrated Bluetooth connectivity, speakerphone, and downloadable ringtones. Plus, surf the Web the way it was meant to be surfed with an ultra-large, high-resolution color screen.

Design
Design-wise, the 7100t is a departure from the form factor of previous BlackBerry models. This BlackBerry is far more phone-like, and RIM's engineers have managed to fit a QWERTY keyboard onto the handset's slim frame. Each button on the keypad shares two letters and the unit automatically determines which letter is the intended one based on what it predicts you are trying to spell. This unique predictive text technology, known as SureType, enables the 7100t's diminutive size. SureType also learns the words you use most often, further enhancing your typing speed.

The 7100t sports a large 240 x 260 pixels screen with 65,000 colors-- plenty of real estate to view your emails, web browser content, messaging sessions and attachments. The venerable BlackBerry jog dial is located on the right side of the unit for quick scrolling through menus and emails. A speakerphone is housed in the top portion of the rear of the handset, just above the removable battery door. There's also a standard 2.5mm headset jack that can be used with the included headset.

Calling Features
All the calling capabilities folks have come to expect in a wireless phone are present in the 7100t. As mentioned, the unit's speakerphone makes it easy to use the device handsfree, or if you prefer, use a wireless headset via the 7100t's built-in Bluetooth capability. A vibrating alert, speed dial, and a contacts list/address book that is limited only by the unit's 32 MB of internal memory, are also included. Any of the phone's 32 included polyphonic ringtones can be used to create caller-specific ringers so you can know who's calling without having to look at the handset. More ringtones are available from T-Mobile's t-zones mobile web service.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
While the 7100t is a different kind of BlackBerry, it still delivers the legendary BlackBerry email experience. With T-Mobile's BlackBerry service plans, you can receive emails instantaneously from up to 10 email accounts (personal and enterprise). With BlackBerry push technology, you don't need to retrieve your email. BlackBerry devices are designed to remain on and continuously connected to the wireless network, allowing you to be discreetly notified as new email arrives. Support is also built-in for viewing email attachments (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, and PDF formats).

If your company has BlackBerry Enterprise Server installed, you can take advantage of the power of wireless calendar synchronization. Your calendar events are exchanged wirelessly and automatically so that your desktop calendar and BlackBerry device calendar are synchronized. All your Outlook meeting requests, changes, and updates are instantaneously synchronized instantaneously with your desktop. Make meeting requests, invite new attendees and more, all on your 7100t. Users without Enterprise Server support can manually sync with their desktop calendars and contacts via Bluetooth or USB using the included BlackBerry Desktop software.

Use the 7100t's Web browser to access the Internet from the palm of your hand. Browse Web sites, get up-to-date stock quotes, read the latest news, check weather reports and more. Instant messaging and wireless messaging are also built into the 7100t. The unit supports AOL, Yahoo and ICQ instant messaging, as well as SMS text messaging. MMS messages can be received and forwarded.

The 7100t ships with a number of tools, including a calculator with a unit converter and a to-do list. The unit supports Java application and game downloads (available via the t-zones service). One game, BrickBreaker, is included.

Vital Statistics
The RIM BlackBerry 7100t weighs 4.30 ounces and measures 4.70 x 2.30 x 0.70 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4.5 hours of digital talk time, and up to 240 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 800/900/1800/1900 GSM/GPRS frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

5-0 out of 5 stars I have used most PDA phones. The 7100t is the BEST
After being pretty happy with the Treo 600 I moved on to the Treo 650 with Cingular. Some of the issues I had with the 650 may have been related to Cingular but as a consumer who has the time or patience to sort through that.In general the 650 with Cingular was a total disaster. The phone had to be reset 2-3 times a day, bluetooth usage was hit or miss and I tried 3 different headsets.Worst of all, Palm just allows you to install whatever application you desire and does not manage any conflicts that may occur.Your first indication of a problem is the phone repeatedly recycling.

Now for the 7100t on T-Mobile.It's been nothing but goodness.Getting corporate e-mail configured on the phone was fool proof and having other e-mail accounts set up to sync with the phone was a breeze. The phone has NEVER frozen or reset.I have never had to reset the phone myself. The Treo manuals have an easy to access 'reset' button because it's such an issue for them. The keyboard requires a little bit of patience, but like a high tech car, if you want high performance and a good ride you have to take some time to learn.Yes, there are two letters on most of the keys and in the end that serves to provide a smaller device and also means you don't have to move your fingers around alot to type words. This becomes a nice benefit.I find I can type faster than I could with the Treo keyboard.

If you are used to a stylus, then it takes getting used to.The blackberry just does not use them and what that means is you can do almost everything with 1 hand.

A few words of advice to get productive with this phone:

1) download the user manual from the web site.it has lots of detail about the phone.be sure to read all the detail regarding how to use the keyboard.

2) don't be so concerned with 3rd party applications to put on the phone.this phone comes with most everything you need to be productive.i found with the Treo that I needed about $100 worth of accessory software to be productive and to make up for small software features that were not packaged with the phone.

3) learn the short cuts with the keyboard. you can scroll up and down by hitting 3 or 9 and can go to the top of a list or the bottom of a list by hitting 1 or 7.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable PDA...
I bought my 7100t several weeks ago because I was impressed with the size. I could easily use it as a phone and also have my contacts, calendar, Internet, and the huge bonus of email all with me at once. This little device has transformed my organizational capability and made my life a whole lot easier. I use the Internet for work purposes quite a bit and I have found typing easier than expected. No, you can't type like on a PC but the QWERTY keyboard is very serviceable and great for quick responses.
I have never loved a device before but when you experience the critical functionality that this unit provides it is easy to see why some call them CRACKBERRIES. This is one very cool device that has had a significant impact on my productivity. There is NOTHING like it on the market and the T-mobile service has been a pleasant surprise. This is a superb device. Highest recommendation.

5-0 out of 5 stars The NEW next best thing!
Being a Palm junkie, I was entirely ready to junk my PDA, cell phone, and Blackberry for a Treo 600 (the 650 wasn't out at that point). However, after using a Blackberry and appreciating the functionality, I decided to look into the 7100t before I jumped on the Treo...I'm glad I did.

The form of the 7100t is tops in the BB line (I have a colleague who has the 7100g...not the same), and, at the same time, has the power to handle all the necessary tasks of a busy executive. Although the keyboard, with its "SureType" technology takes some practice (not much), it is a little bit of heaven once you get it down.

A little more about the form...this is the first BB that actually has the shape and feel of a cell phone. The original BB I owned was not conducive to phone use, even though it was offered. The 7100t is just about the same size as the Treo, making the basis for comparison very good...and compare I did. The 2.1-inch, 240-by-260 color display is probably the best I've seen in this size a device, and beats the lower res Treo like a whipping post. A friend of mine bought a Treo 650 recently (after seeing my 7100t) and came to me boasting about the "better keyboard." When we put them side-by-side, he was almost embarrassed at the screen quality of his Treo vs. my 7100t.

I use my 7100t extensively for organization purposes (PDA)...calendar, address book, and task list daily. The 7100t interface is extremely friendly and syncs perfectly with Outlook on my office PC. And, although the 7100t has IM and web browsing options as standard features, I don't make use of them due to the lack speed and screen size (although in a pinch, you can engage the browser and Google whatever you like).

A bit about the keyboard and Suretype...RIM's literature indicates that to make the device more "phone-like," they opted for the 20-key hybrid keypad in which the keys are relatively small, flat, and close together. Most keys have two letters and a number on them, but are arranged in the familiar QWERTY format. I've got fairly large hands, and don't have much trouble with the keys. RIM's proprietary SureType is leaps and bounds ahead of most predictive text systems previously offered. Its database has incredible breadth and is actually quite adept at discerning the word one is typing. Honestly, it takes less than an hour to get used to the predictive nature of the typing interaction, and then you're off and running.

As to cell service and functionality, perhaps I'm the lucky one here. I have had none of the difficulties expressed by other reviewers relative to dropped calls or static reception. Frankly, the quality of this cell is better than the last two cell phones I've owned (Samsung and Moto).

Although I wasn't overly excited about having to switch to T-Mobile to get this phone, the service has been excellent (so far) and their plans accommodating. Beyond that, this device has been absolutely wonderful and it is a constant companion.

Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a beauty
Okay I have read the reviews here and am shocked by some. I have had this phone for a couple of months now and I havent had any of the problems that some people are reporting. The phone wokrs like a charm...the pda part works great....sending text and emails is a breeze once you get used to it and yes it is possible to type fast with the keyboard and I have big fingers I never miss a key...so dont be hesitant, if your looking for a good joining of a cellphone and a pda this is it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unstable phone.... Drops calls and reboots
This is a good phone as far as features it provides as a PDA. BUT this has a biggest problem. It does not work well as a phone. It reboots itself while taking. Just like old Windows 98 machine 'blue screen' problem. Its really annoying when you are on a conference call or interview call and it takes another 5-10 mins to join back.
T-mobile customer care is now going to replace this phone with another refurbished phone.

Amazon.com Review

The tri-band Motorola V600 cell phone features Bluetooth connectivity, an integrated VGA digital camera, and MMS with video clip playback. You'll also get "Situational Lights"--a feature that lets you light colors for various types of calls--and much more, all displayed on a large, high-resolution 176 x 220 pixels, 65,000 color interior screen.

The basic Motorola clamshell format continues to provide a solid and attractive option for any dedicated cell phone user. Its steel frame is compact and attractive, (the faceplate-changing capabilities seem a bit unnecessary) and it's loaded with all the essential features you'll need for power usage plus a few bonuses. You may find the volume a bit high out of the box, and it goes into hibernate almost as fast as you can dial a number, but these are minor, adjustable quibbles on a truly stellar phone.

Calling Features

See a detailed view of the phone's features,
front and back.

Used simply as a cell phone, the V600 features a five-way navigation key with multiple dedicated function keys for easy menu navigation. Primary calling features include voice dialing, integrated speakerphone, vibrate mode, call timers, redial, missed call indicator, call log, any-key answer, auto-answer, auto-redial, roaming indicator, speed dial, linked (credit card) dialing, phonebook look-up, phonebook scroll, mute control, no-answer transfer, one-touch 911, system select, usage alert, and a phone book of up to 1250 entries, including picture caller ID functionality. When the phone is closed, its external screen (two lines, 96 x 32 pixelss) displays caller ID, date, time, and various status icons, including text message waiting, voice message waiting, battery and signal strength, and voice and message mail. There's even a blue backlight on the secondary display for nighttime viewing.

The V600 sports well-placed, well-machined keys, and its compact size does nothing to hinder dialing even for large-fingered users. The solid scroll keys bring you to very intuitive menus presented nicely on a single screen, marked by functional but showier-than-necessary graphics. There are also dedicated external buttons for speaker volume, voice recording, and ring volume.

Messaging and Internet
The advanced MMS capabilities built in to the V600 enable users to send, edit, forward, and receive image, text, audio, and video messages over the wireless Internet, to and from compatible phones or PCs. (Messages can run up to 100k in size.) You'll also get instant messaging capability, messaging templates, SMS two-way messaging, conventional email, and predictive text assistance. Beyond messaging, the V600's Internet connectivity lets you access online services such as stock quotes, road directions, airline information, entertainment, and more. You can also download Java applications (version CLDC 1.0, MIDP 2.0, 100k per application limit) for which the phone provides 5 MB total (shared) memory. High-speed data transfer and download round out the package. The V600 supports digital TTY/TDD functionality for the hearing impaired.

Organizer
Organizer features include a calendar, calculator with currency converter, date book with event storage, and voice memo. You can also transfer this data to your PC wirelessly via the phone's Bluetooth capability.

We found the V600's appointment scheduling to be right in line with our fairly basic needs. Other than the universal annoyance of pecking out appointment details with the ten-key letter system (there's no QWERTY keyboard here as you'll find on some of the more recent, albeit early-adopter phones) this phone's organizer features provided enough data entry space for any busy person taking these functions seriously, but no more.

Fun and Games
For fun, the V600 sports a built-in 640 x 480 pixels integrated digital camera with zoom and brightness adjustment functions. Pictures taken with the camera can be stored in the phone or sent to others via multimedia messaging. The 5 MB of memory available for storing pictures is also shared with whatever wallpapers, screensavers, ring tones, Java applications, or games you may download from the Internet. The V600 also features 24 chord ring tone capability. Users can assign different tones for different callers in the V600's phonebook, and assign separate tones to denote incoming messages, faxes, and reminders. Wireless multiplayer gaming capabilities and two included games, "Bejeweled" and "Stuntman", round out the entertainment perks that ship with this phone.

Conclusions
We liked this phone's very basic camera. It was easy to use and worry-free and the device can be accessed instantly from the phone's top level screen menu. From power on, it only took us a moment to take and save a fairly nice picture. However, photo quality is only adequate; about as good as you'd expect for a cell phone circa 2004, as opposed to a dedicated digital camera. We also found the ring tones included with the phone to be generally pleasant, and it was a breeze to assign a custom tone to a number in the phonebook, thanks again to the easy menu system. The included games were basic and fairly fun (at least once). In "Stuntman", the phone's vibrate mode provided road rumble as a little car skidded around a bland, full-color stunt course. But player beware! Once the game starts, the volume becomes LOUD and is not apparently adjustable. Finally, there is a nutty little feature called Motomixer, which lets you modify various settings on little songs that you can download, emulating a very rudimentary, miniature studio console.

In all, we found the Motorola V600 to be a rock solid, highly effective cell phone with attractive and efficient graphic and audio capabilities. We recommend the V600 without reservations for any serious user.

Vital Statistics
The Motorola V600's security features include call restrictions, phone lock, and new password capability. The phone weighs 4.4 ounces and measures 3.5 x 1.87 x 0.83 inches. Its lithium-ion batteries are rated at up to 450 minutes talk time, and up to 240 hours standby time. It runs on the GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 frequencies. 4-0 out of 5 stars i want to know how to use the speaker phone capability
hi,well maybe this review is not that helpfull, but all i want to know is how to use the speakerphone when the phone is closed, so if yo could please tell me how, i would very much appreciate it. Please help me with this, please.

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T Buy it!
H.J Spivack's review (12/17/04) is dead-on!I have experienced the same issues and frustration with Cingular & this phone. My advice, get a different phone & service. Received the first phone in June 2004 and now in May 2005, I am on the fifth phone. Each time a problem has come up (buttons didn't work, display stops working, phone answered the call on its own (while sitting on the desktop), etc.), the service has been tremendously awful (1 hr on the phone) and my only viable option is to receive another refurbished phone. The company tells me the replacements are "reconditioned" and suggested I contact Motorolla.Even after clearly articulating I was dissatified with the quality of the phone and service, my request for a refund and/or different phone at their cost was denied. This company is not customer friendly or interested in maintaining any level of customer service or satisfaction.Add to that poor phone performance and it is a lose-lose scenario.

Compatible with AT&T Wireless service, the Nokia N-Gage QD is a GSM phone and handheld gaming console rolled into one. The N-Gage QD features Bluetooth wireless connectivity, a hot-swap MMC-card slot for memory expansion and games, and a 176 x 208 pixels screen. Like all the latest Nokia phones, the N-Gage QD runs on a variant of the Symbian OS, which allows fast multitasking between game applications, phone calls, messaging and other functions. Users of the original N-Gage will be delighted to know that the N-Gage QD operates as a phone without the need for a headset; hold it to your ear and talk all you want. It's also smaller and more jeans-pocket-friendly than the original model.

The new N-Gage QD is smaller and more intelligently designed than its predecessor. Plus, inserting game cards is a snap.
Overall, we found the N-Gage QD a stunning successor to the original. Nokia has certainly listened to users and made improvements in all the right places. Barring a few quibbles, this new gaming phone is poised to make a real name for itself in the portable gaming space, something the original model was largely unable to do.

Calling and Multimedia
Gaming is the heart and soul of the N-Gage QD, but don't forget, it's also a powerful phone with the latest mobile Web, e-mail and messaging features. While we liked the ability to use it as a conventional handset, Bluetooth is built in, so going hands-free is easy with a Bluetooth-enabled headset. If you're not Bluetooth-inclined, there's also a jack for a wired headset. Like ringtones? You can get creative with polyphonic sounds that get you noticed in a crowd.

The N-Gage QD packs plenty of portable graphics firepower.
If you can receive GPRS data via AT&T's mMode service, you can browse the wireless Web using the built-in browser. We found these features tricky to set up and the Nokia interface for these functions somewhat confusing, but once we got things going, we enjoyed downloading some game tips and tricks from n-gage.com. The unit also serves as a wireless e-mail and messaging client with support for all the latest protocols (MMS, SMS, IMAP4, POP3, SMTP, and MIME2). We especially liked the Java-based expandability of the phone; with a data connection it's fun to download new Java-based games and new game levels. You can also download productivity apps like calendars and planners.

With this iteration of the N-Gage, Nokia decided to drop the FM radio and MP3 player functions from the device. We think these would have been nice to retain, but Nokia was intent on making the N-Gage QD more exclusively focused on gaming. Nokia has retained multiplayer gaming via Bluetooth so you can still go head-to-head with up to four players via a wireless connection.

Gaming
Okay, the meat and potatoes. The Nokia N-Gage QD didn't disappoint when it came to gaming performance on a handheld device. The redesigned controls are far more user-friendly than those on the classic N-Gage. Gone are the days of clumsily pushing the directional pad inward to make a selection; a separate selection button is now available. The newly placed slot for games and memory expansion cards is one of the biggest improvements as users no longer have to remove the battery and cover to pop in a new game. The card slot is now easily accessible on the outside edge of the unit and is protected by a rubber cover.

Our test model came with Ashen, a three-dimensional first-person shooter set in a macabre, supernatural world. Creepy-crawly things were coming at us from all directions and we found ourselves pretty immersed in the game--quite amazing, given that the screen is a little smaller than a business card. Graphics were impressive, too, for such a small device that offers robust battery life (Nokia claims 10 hours of play time on a single charge). Lovers of online multiplayer gaming will like Nokia's N-Gage Arena, which allows gamers to come together on the wireless Internet to compete and cooperate in a variety of online games.

We had some reservations about the number of currently available games for the N-Gage. Many are forthcoming, however, and Nokia has obviously made a serious commitment to improving the platform. The N-Gage QD is a clear and positive sign of what's to come. --Joshua Gunn

It's the perfect companion to AT&T wireless service. What's more, it's a quad-band phone with support for global coverage.

Design

Click the image to get a closer look at the V505's features.
The phone features a sleek clamshell design with a large 176 x 220 color display with 65,000 colors. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 32 blue monochrome display that can display time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The VGA camera lens and self-portrait mirror is housed above this display. A stub antenna is placed on the top right side of the unit, next to the phone's headset jack. Volume buttons are placed on the left side, while a one-touch camera button is on the right. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad. A combined charging and data cable port is placed on the bottom of the phone.

Calling Features
The V505 allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. It also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. A number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone and more ringtones can be downloaded from AT&T Wireless' mMode service. There's even an included application, MotoMixer, that lets you mix your own ringtones.

Speed dialing, which allows you to call pre-programmed numbers with one button is built in, as is a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
The V505 features support for ICQ, AOL and Yahoo! instant messaging applications (AT&T messaging charges apply). There's also a built-in web browser for mMode downloads and mobile web browsing. AT&T's mMode service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get sports updates, download games and ringtones, and more. Traditional text messaging, as well as picture and sound messaging (MMS) are also supported by the phone. When used in combination with the phone's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the V505 including a voice memo recorder, a calculator, a calendar, a notepad and an alarm clock.

Use the V505's Bluetooth capability to set up a wireless link with a Bluetooth headset accessory or connect to a computer or hand-held device to exchange and synchronize data.

Imaging and Entertainment
The V505's Bluetooth connectivity can also be used to transfer pictures, sounds and graphics to the phone's memory from your PC. Screensavers, themes and wallpapers can be set to your tastes. The V505 is Java enabled, meaning it supports games and application downloads written on the Java platform. The phone ships with a single game, Bejeweled, and additional games are available via the mMode service. The phone also supports MPEG4 video playback. Load video clips from your PC or download them from a wireless web provider and enjoy video on the go.

Vital Statistics
The V505 weighs 4.3 ounces and measures 3.5 x 1.9 x .9 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 6.5 hours of digital talk time, and up to 200 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool Phone!!!!!

Qualities

I got a motorola v505 for christmas and i think it is an incredible phone where ever i go my signal never ever goes down (wow) i like the camera and i think it produces good quality pictures. It's got blue tooth which i like and also i like how can connect it to your PC it also has instant messaging and can play MP3's. it has a lot of memory space.

Down Sides

there is not much i can think of for this part but one thing i don't like is that it doesn't have many good rings on it (shame) and it comes with one game which is a demo but apart from that nothing much else.

5-0 out of 5 stars finally happy with my cell phone - well, for awhile!
i have been through a few cell phones recently, and i am happy to say i've found one i am happy with! i got this phone, unlocked, (...) popped in my SIM card and was good to go.

i am very pleased with this phone and it's feature set. it also helps that i've been able to "hack" into this phone and transfer games, wallpapers and ringtones without having to pay a huge sum to get them (by using mMode). this phone is pretty customizable, once you get the programs you need to customize it. i know most people don't get this into their cell phones, but it's nice to know it's an option with the V505.

here's what i like about this phone:
* speakerphone is nice and clear. no problems with people hearing me and vice-versa.
* bluetooth, though not a perfect technology, is a nice feature to have.
* ringtone selection is actually pretty good on this phone.
* clarity of calls is excellent.
* nice sturdy design and feel. some people complain that this phone is "heavy", but i don't mind a phone that weighs an ounce more. ;)
* screen is beautiful. colors are bright and menues are easy to see.
* camera is one of the better ones i've seen, though still, don't expect these pictures to be good for anything other than wallpaper on your phone.
* added features like the datebook and themes are nice, though most people won't probably use these!
* mp3 ringtones. woohoo!
* 5MB of internal storage is nice. not a ton, but you should have more than enough space for games, wallpapers, etc.
* it's a quad-band! not useful for me, but those of you who travel to europe will like feature.
* very stylish, though industrial-looking, phone.

here's the "bad" stuff, though none of this was a big deal (and doesn't detract from my love of this phone), but it's worth noting:
* motorola's address book could stand an overhaul. it's ass-backwards, but there are ways of working around it.
* only ONE GAME is included and it's a demo version. c'MON! that's a total rip.
* outer LCD display is kinda poor compared to the beautiful screen that's on the inside. and, when someone calls, you can only see the first few letters of that person's name.
* call and send buttons are reversed. no idea why. you get used to it though.
* phone doesn't come with the cable to connect it to your computer, nor the mobile phone tools software. this stuff should definitely be included.
* manual is crap, but you've half a brain, you can figure out most features of this phone.

though no provider is currently selling this phone anymore (at&t was the last one to carry this, before the buyout), you can still buy them on ebay. this phone has basically been replaced by cingular's V551. other phones that are very similar are the V525, V400, V551, V600, etc. all seem to get pretty good reviews. i am a newly-converted motorola fan!

5/4/2005: after having this phone about four months, it started going buggy on me. started dropping calls, cutting out, etc. i thought initially, it was cingular, but i swapped my SIM card and tried out another phone and sure enough, that one was fine. i finally made the switch to cingular (from my old at&t plan) and got a V551, so here's hoping!

1-0 out of 5 stars V505
Having been a customer of AT&T, PacBell, and now SBC - I am astonished that they have moved to Cingular and did not inform their customers... my current cell phone has broken (AT&T) and I have one year left on my "contract" I need to get another phone that is compatible and would like to get the V505 or V220 - how is this possible when all of the AT&T's have been discontinued!?

So, where can I get this a residual AT&T phone that will work on my current "contract" fyi - to get out of the "contract" will cost me $179.00, unless I go over to Cingular - and initiate another "contract"this to me is bull.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sleek, Stylish, and Packed with Features!
For a while i was contemplating on wether to get this phone or the nokia 6820.i compared the two and found out that the v505 had a bigger screen, better camera, more features, and a brighter screen, so it wasn't a hard decision to go for the v505.I am very happy with this piece of art.

PROS:
1.Big bright wonderful screen.
2.external LCD to see incoming calls and the date and time.
3.Loud speakerphone.
4.Absolutley great camera with vivid pictures.
5.many different ways to customize.

CONS:

1.To unlock the keypad you have to enter a pin #, and you can't answer calls unless it unlocked.

As you can see the PROS greatly outweigh the CONS.Motorola has done a great job on this phone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone - only one issue that I've had
I just ported my phone from T-mobile (Which has the absolute worst service in Michigan, at least with a T-610) to AT&T. I did not do it through Amazon because I found out that amazon does not have the capability to port numbers with AT&T or Cingular yet. Instead, I did it through intelenet.com (which, I believe, is affiliated with Wirefly.com). Anyway, I ended transferring my old numbers from my other phone onto my sim card and presto - no tedious re-entering. I also love the fact that this phone, like the T610 has Bluetooth integrated within. It also takes Mp3 format so I was able to take snipits of songs I love and transport them onto my phone as ringtones. The only problem that I have had with this phone is the side buttons. Unless your ring mode is on Vibrate or silent - you might come across a loud beep sound if you keep your phone in your pocket... Whenever the phone is in ringer mode, the side buttons make a loud beep when you press them and I hate it - sounds like a wanted glitch to me... otherwise - I can't say I have any other complications - takes pretty good pictures too - I also saw a member mention that you can take videos with this phone. They are not correct. This phone only takes pictures. Hope this helps you potential buyers out there. ... Read more

With a huge, stunning screen, as well as support for Bluetooth wireless technology, and Nextel's legendary Direct Connect walkie-talkie service, the i605 is a powerful mobile companion.

Design
The i605 is built extra-tough for construction and utilities industry users. In fact, it conforms to military standard 810F for blowing rain, humidity, and salt fog. That means it's designed to withstand exposure to rain, sleet, and snow. The rubber encasing, interior linings and seals protect the phone's antenna, speakerphone, keys, battery door, and accessory connections against water intrusion.

The phone sports a very large, 176 x 220 TFT color display with a stunning 262,000 colors. The screen is optimized for outdoor use, with enhanced clarity for reading text, graphics, and phone icons. The speakerphone unit is located on the rear of the phone, while the trademark Direct Connect and menu scrolling functions can be controlled from the side of the phone. The phone's control pad also features a five-way button that can control most of the phone's functions. There's also a 2.5-millimeter headset jack for connecting a hands-free headset. Of course, you can also use the i605's Bluetooth capability to connect a wireless hands-free headset.

Calling Features
The i605's built-in address book can store up to 600 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and email addresses. The phone comes with built-in polyphonic ringtones plus a vibrating alert. More polyphonic ringtones can be added via download from the Nextel Online service. Voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names, while a built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Meanwhile, you can access the last 20 sent and received calls for quick call return or number storage via the recent calls list. There's even an "airplane mode" that allows you to turn off network connections while still using programs, games, voice record features, and the datebook. And if you have an emergency, the i605's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911.

One of the key features of any Nextel phone is support for Nextel's Direct Connect walkie-talkie technology. The i605 fully supports the service, which allows for one-touch conversations with anyone else on a Nextel phone, or with entire groups of Direct Connect users. It's like a having a CB radio with enough range to cover all of North America, Canada and Latin America. With the i605's powerful Direct Talk function you can also communicate in walkie-talkie mode when you're not even connected to the network. The system works anywhere, anytime between compatible phones within a range of up to 6 miles (range will vary based on terrain and conditions). Direct Talk provides a reliable back-up communications tool in times of emergency, network outage, or when traveling to remote areas not under Nextel coverage such as hiking, cruise vacations or inside buildings. And last but not least, the i605 features a walkie-talkie private speaker button. This switches from the external speaker to the earpiece for private conversations or to minimize disruptions in quiet environments.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
The i605 features MMS-based support for mobile-to-mobile or mobile-to-email text, images and audio messaging. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. Getting on the Internet anywhere is easy with the i605, as well. Nextel's optional Nextel Online package allows you to read and send e-mails, exchange instant messages and view your favorite web content on your phone. Nextel Online also features games, ringtones, realtime news and sports updates, virtual address books, and more-- all delivered to your Nextel phone.

Another Nextel innovation supported by the i605 is Nextel Direct Send. Simply push a button and instantly send all your contact info to another Nextel phone. It's an easy way to get people into your contact list fast. The i605 ships with a calendar, as well as a voice recording application and a time and date clock. You can also use the phone's Bluetooth capability to wirelessly transmit data from a Bluetooth-enabled device.

The i605 is packed with a number of subscription-based Java applications, many of which focus on increasing business effectiveness. TeleNav for audible GPS-based driving directions is included, as is Road Pathway for fleet management and tracking. You'll also get Trimble Outdoors for GPS-based outdoor navigation and 1KTV multimedia for news. Games include demo versions of Space Invaders and Boulder Dash M.E..

3-0 out of 5 stars i605 Nextel
I have my likes and dislike. First the dislikes. For a phone that is suppose to meet military standards, if really feels cheap, expecially with the extend battery cover that come with the phone. This cover is plastic and makes the entire phone feel cheap. When using the keys, there is also a cheap clicking noise made each time you enter a digit. It has MMS compability, but you need someone with the same phone to use it. Cannot take pictures (not a camera phone) but it has an option for picture id. Likes, there is diffinitely an improvement in the signal strength compare to my i730. Overall size of the phone is nice. LCD screen is very good on the eyes (I wear glasses) If you purchase a data base service, you can send email right from you contact list. And the automatic sleep modes helps save battery life. ...
