4-0 out of 5 stars Can't beat the "cool" factor...
I've had a lot of phones, and I prefer Motorola phones, but I also needed Bluetooth, and the V600 was just too expensive for me. But this phone is fantastic! The screen is vibrant, the sounds quality if great and the features are SO cool! I found this open source software, float's Mobile Agent (search Google), that allows the user to connect with the phone through the bluetooth connection and do all kinds of things with the phone, like assign photos and rings to contacts, upload images, audio, themes, etc.. It's a gadget geek's dream come true... Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get functionality and more with the T637
For the past three days, I spent a fairly good amount of time scouring the internet; researching cell phones. It was an arduous process. Painful really. Save yourself some time and decide three things you're looking for in a cell phone. This seriously helps get rid of half or at least a third of your options. Me?...I was looking for the following: ONE, a phone compatible with mac's isync. TWO, bluetooth. And THREE, great battery life. Bottom line, I got all three plus a lot more with this bad boy. You should know that despite two of the negative reviews posted here on Amazon, the T637 has scored extremely high with CNET, About.com, and many other tech reviewers. It scores high not just because of it's cool camera, bluetooth and mac compatibility, but also because of it's simple functionality. This is a great phone. Check it out for yourself.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cingular service not sold in my area by Amazon.com
I was trying to order Cingular Cellphone service from amazon.com. When I gave my zip code, it says the service is not available in my area. I called customer service and they told me to give some big city nearby. I gave Boston and it says service is available. I started placing my order and on credit check form it complained about the zip code being different from the service area. I called customer service again and this time I got the answer that if it is not available in my zip code I can not place the order. I tried few near by cities which are adjacent town and it says service is available. I was really confused about it. How do amazon.com really decides to skip some towns while providing service.

I'm frustrated with this experience and miscommunication from the customer serivce.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every day gets better with this phone
Hi - this is a great phone. Bluetooth syncs with my mac perfectly. All functions I need are available intuitively and easily. It's the details with this phone that I love: the rounded buttons which allow even my huge hands to type with ease, the strong construction, the bright (and great in sunlight) TFT screen, the ability for it to use my calling cards and enter the numbers for me, the SMS and data counters, the "post-it" notes feature, the alarm, the games.

The big stuff - RF and sound are great. Battery life I have found to be good (they clam something like 300 hours in the specs - but I would say more like 150 - still this is pretty good). The camera is only decent - but I don't consider this a big deal - its for fun and it achieves that goal fine. The menus are fast and access to numbers is easy.

The phone is small and stylish, is smaller than my old T720 - if you include the antenna which you must! (ouch!).

Obviously you can pay more and get better phones - but for the great price its selling for now (net $50 return with new 1yr contract), I don't think you can go wrong, especially if you want a candy-bar style.

best of luck!
Rob

2-0 out of 5 stars Data Pimp
I returned this phone the same day I received it. I got mine with AT&T (sorry, can't write reviews for that one yet), and the phone was pretty much wired to hook up to AT&T's data services at the drop of a pin. All I wanted was a phone that had bluetooth, and I could have put up with a phone that was capable of WAP, SMS, ABC and XYZ, but with this phone, you have to tip-toe around these services if you don't want to accidently start the kb-meter going. There is the "on-line" button on the right side. Tipping the joystick forward (on the AT&T model) initiated a data connection. The upper right key did as well. And if you brought up the main menu with the icons, then the top two icons were data connections.... You get the idea. The phone was designed to funnel users into more expensive data services like cattle heading through feedlot chutes. I felt like making a voice call was buried deep within the phone... somewhere. It made me yearn for my old basic Nokia that did one thing and did it very well. Of course, most of the cell phones out there are turning into data pimps as well, so I don't know what to tell you. Someday, someone's going to get smart and design a cell phone like an iPod. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars AT&T Wireless SUCKS
First of all, I couldn't find a board to post my review on AT&T wireless, so I had to choose to review some product. I'm giving 4 stars to it since I heard this is a good phone.

However, what I want to do today is to WARN YOU that AT&T WIRELESS SUCKS. Their customer service can provide wrong information and force you to pay more than you should.

Here is my story. I had a AT&T wireless phone, but for personal reasons I wanted to cancel it. It was 2 months before the contract would expire, so I confirmed with the CSR that I would have to pay the $175 cancelation fee, which is actually reasonable and under contract.

But, but, at this time he gave me wrong information. He suggested that I suspend the account for 2 months and cancel it afterwards. I was a little doubtful but, since this was the information directly from a CSR, I did as what he told me to do.

Then, 2 months later, I called in again. This time a different CSR said that time of suspension does not count in the contract. This means I must wait for another 2 months, and pay, before I can cancel the account. Unfortunately I don't have the conversation record with the first CSR due to a system crash, so I have no strong evidence to support myself.

It is all OK to me since I am not using the phone anyway, and it only costs < $100 for 2 months. However, I can't stand the fact that CSRs provide wrong information and mislead customers. AT&T has lost a customer forever, and I bet they will lose more once more people know about their bad customer service.

AT&T WIRELESS SUCKS, DON'T BUY AT&T WIRELESS

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone - fast activation - ATT
I love this phone; its small, has a tremendous amount of features, and has great synch abilities. Although the camera quality isn't the greatest, its made for a phone...if you want high quality, buy a digital camera. That said, quick photo snap is nice and the menus fly by in a breeze. The reception I am getting on ATT is great!

I know there have been complaints on activating this bad boy, but I really didnt have much of a problem. If you get the phone through Amazon you are going to have to call ATT in order to activate your SIM card and be able to start making and receiving calls. I called 1-888-288-4202 and talked to a guy named Nikolai who got my stuff straight within 30 minutes. The only problem was that a day after I had called him it still read 'inactive SIM', but on a whim I powered it down and then back up and it worked. My advice to anyone getting this phone is to call that number and let them activate it, then wait like an hour and shut down your phone and then restart it...it should probably be rearin and ready to go by then. Again, great phone and great features!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not all it is claimed to be
Would have been 5 stars, but . . .

Sony claims that they worked hard to make the phone compatible with iSync on the Macintosh, unfortuantely it isn't fully compatible. Multi-day and all-day calendar events won't transfer over. When contacting Sony, they say they don't support the feature and I need to contact apple. Doesn't sound like they worked too hard after all.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not waterproof.
Virtually useless if you happen to be a goldfish, as I am. It quickly shorts out, and leaves the water tasting a bit funny.

It doesn't even make a good toy for the fishbowl, the plastic castle was much better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone.
This is a great cell phone. I use the bluetooth functionality to sync my contacts and calendar. I also use it to copy pictures to my computer for display on my website. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

This quad-band GSM wonder packs lots of Smartphone power into a small package that can provide all your mobile office needs. Loaded with Microsoft Smartphone software, the handset features mobile versions of all the essential Microsoft applications you depend on, including Pocket Outlook, Pocket Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, and MSN messenger. What's more, the unit's software is designed to sync seamlessly with email, contacts and calendar information on your PC.

Design
The MPx220 sleek clamshell form factor is more sleek and svelte than it's predecessor's, while retaining the internal antenna design. The large, 176 x 220 screen with a whopping 262,000 colors dominates inside of the cover. A smaller, full-color LCD screen, which displays pictures, incoming calls, current time, battery life, signal strength and other information is located on the outside of the cover. The megapixel camera and flash, as well as the speakerphone unit, are also housed on the outside of the cover. A five-way selection button above the number pad allows you to navigate and control the Windows Mobile interface. There are also up/down menu selection buttons on the left side of the device for easy access to basic controls. In addition to a headset jack, a miniSD memory expansion card slot is housed in the unit. The power key and infrared port are housed on the left side of the unit, while a universal charger/USB data port is present on the bottom.

Calling Features
The MPx220 has all the latest calling features folks have come to expect. The built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Vibrate modes and custom WAV and MP3 ringtones can also be set to your preferences so you know who is calling without having to look at the LCD. The included Pocket Outlook software features a contacts list that is cleverly integrated with the phone's dialing functions. Enhanced voice dialing supports voice-to-digit dialing and name recognition for speedy dialing of contacts. The MPx220's voice recognition software supports voice commands from any user, not just a pre-programmed user's voice. Because the MPx220 is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
The MPx220 is designed as a complete solution for people who want to bring their office with them. The unit comes packed with pocket versions of Outlook, Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger. In addition to keeping track of contacts, Pocket Outlook features integrated calendar and email functions. Email support is provided for IMAP and POP3 accounts, as well as corporate accounts. Microsoft's ActiveSync software keeps the device synced with all of your PC's Outlook information (via USB, Bluetooth or infrared connection). Users who want Internet connectivity on the road with their laptop or PDA can select a Cingular data package and tap the MPx220's wireless modem capabilities. The unit supports VPN and proxy Internet connections.

You can use the MPx220's built in Internet Explorer browser for MEdia downloads and mobile web browsing. Cingular's MEdia service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. Traditional text messaging, as well as video, picture and sound messaging are also supported by the phone. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the MPx220 including a voice memo recorder, a calculator, a to-do list, and an alarm clock.

Imaging and Entertainment
The MPx220's powerful megapixel still camera also features video with audio capture capability. In addition to a flash, the camera features a self-timer, multi-frame shooting capability, white balance and color control, as well as a time stamp option. The video camera's capture capability is only limited by the amount of available memory in the unit. The inclusion of Windows Media on the MPx220 means that you can use the handset as an MP3 and a video player, as well. Once again, the amount of music and video you can store is only limited by the unit's memory. For gamers, the phone supports Java-based and Windows Mobile game downloads.

Vital Statistics
The Motorola MPx220 weighs 3.88 ounces and measures 3.93 x 1.89 x .96 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 5.0 hours of digital talk time, and up to 200 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

1-0 out of 5 stars No redeeming value
This is the worst phone ever made! It does nothing well. The reception is awful and it drops calls frequently, the fit and finish is poor (the screen fills with dust obscuring the low rez screen), it only displays 256 colors making it useless for pictures, bluetooth works intermittently, buttons are too small and press themselves too easily in pockets (even with key lock on), joystick broke with light use...

Shall I go on?

Do yourself a favor, avoid all Sony Ericsson products. If this phone is any indication of their commitment to product quality, they need to get out of the business.

1-0 out of 5 stars Nice Features but Not Durable-Poor Reception
I bought the T68i for its advanced features and bluetooth compatibility. I was able to synchronize the phone with my ACT! database and found the phonebook and calendar functions of the phone quite good.

Bluetooth performance was spotty. I needed to re-establish the bluetooth link with headset quite frequently. Sometimes this worked without a hitch other times it took several tries.

Reception on the phone was spotty in some areas where other ATT Next Generation phones had good reception...don't know why this was.

My biggest complaint about this phone was its durability. Through normal wear and tear it just didn't measure up. The earpiece volume button popped off just a couple of months after I got the phone. This was a real problem since there was no other way to easily adjust earpiece volume.

I think ATT had a lot of problems with these phones since they offered free replacements with another model (unfortunately that model did not have bluetooth or many of the other features).

2-0 out of 5 stars After 14 months of use...
After 14 months of use Ill talk about this phone that I still own (and which Im hoping to get rid of once $370 falls out of the sky so I can get the Motorola V600). The size is great because Im a tiny phone person. The color screen is even fairly nice although it's a bit pixely. I like the whole digital phone thing as a screen saver.

But the cons kill me. Ive had two of these phones. First off that little side volume button didn't break off but it no longer works and that happened on both phones. The first phone it just kinda wiggled up and down. It does what it is supposed to do on this phone but it just refuses to work. It worked for about a week and just stopped. When I first had this phone, I had some huge roaming bills cuz it would just randomly jump into cingular. I still get charged for text message roaming sometimes...don't ask me how. Keeping numbers on the SIM card is a hassle because you can't do categories with this phone for the SIM. It has to be MOM Cell, MOM Home, MOM Work etc. whereas if you store them on the phone you can just put MOM and then enter her work, cell, home, email etc. in the different slots. My first phone threw a hissy fit and had a memory malfunction. One day it just decided that it was going to erase 3/4 of my numbers. Basically my phone booked looked like Alan space space space space Cindy space space space space space space Tammy etc. You had no access to the deleted numbers nor could you recover them and a bonehead AT&T operator told me to do memory reset and i lost ALL of my numbers after that. This phone is also prone to shutting itself off within pockets are purses even if the key lock is on. It has the voice dial but it would help if the voice dial rerecognized my voice. i set it up but hardly use it. The ringtones suck and if you're a person who likes to play games (which I don't) those stink too. This phone is a little old and outdated so i say buy something current and more costly and don't waste your $150.

1-0 out of 5 stars The T68i is a terrible phone
I remember when this phone came out. I had to have it. I thought it was the coolest looking phone I had ever seen. After payeing somewhere around $400.00 to get it, I quickly learned of it's poor qualities. First off, the volume control fell off. Read the other reviews, it is a known flaw that is bound to happen. Secondly, the phone is SLOW! When you turn it on it takes about 3 or 4 minutes before you can use it. Storage for pictures is really low and the image quality is crap. The wireless bluetooth works great but I can get that from other phones. The size is nice. I read here that someone sync it up with thier computer so they can use it as a modem??? WOW they are good I have been trying to do that for the past 3 years. I hear they K700 is comming out and it looks like a good phone to replace the T68i. But then I have to remember when the T68i came out and think to myself, "do I really want another headache?"

2-0 out of 5 stars The worst phone I've ever had
One advise - Don't buy it! This is the 3rd time I had to take advantage of the warranty and it takes forever to receive it from Sony. Problems: The volume button on the side fell, the reception is just awful and it's really slow. This happened with all the replacements I got. ... Read more

7) Organizer is a good feature.
8) Screen resolution of 64K makes a lot of difference - it shows!!

Cons:
----
1) Camera resolution is not good.
2) Need to keep wiping the screen, since its black when sleeping and shows anything deposited on it immediately.

I would recommend this phone over any Nokia phone any day! Its a piece of art. SonyEricsson has done a great job of not only designing this phone, but also packing it with so many cool features. Go for it!!!!!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice features, ZERO RELIABILITY!
Well, I've read everyone else's reviews and I must agree that this little phone is really feature-packed. Great color screen, bluetooth, good reception, decent camera, user-friendly enough for me. BUT... The reliability is absolutely HORRIBLE!! I've owned the phone now for 4.5 months and I'm TIRED of all the freezing up!! It is so frustrating! I consider myself to be a very patient person, and if my phone had not locked up PERMANENTLY I would probably still be using it (and tolerating its freezing problems) today. Unfortunately it froze on me a few days ago and no matter what I try -- removing the battery, removing the battery and SIM card, praying, voodoo, etc -- nothing helps. I haven't tried the hard restart since it would wipe out my entire Contacts list. Instead I called T-Mobile and they will be replacing it with a phone "of equal or greater value". Of course there's no guarantee that the new phone will work with the $80 Jabra FreeSpeak that came (free) with the phone! Get the Nokia 3650 instead -- it's a very nice phone (though kinda big) and is recommended by Leo Laporte (the Tech Guy).

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother With This Phone - Zero Stars!
I was in the market for a new cell phone, preferably with a new provider. After reading positive and negative reviews of this phone, I was finally swayed into purchasing this phone due to the hefty rebates offered at Amazon.

After about 6 hours out of the box (four of those hours charging), the phone's operating system locked up, and the screen is now blacked out (probably permanently). The phone only responds with a pleasant chime as it starts up, but sadly, nothing else.

I sincerely thought that some of the negative reviews for this product were from purchasers with gripes against the manufacturer or service provider. At worst, maybe these bad reviews were isolated incidents, and I could beat the odds. However, in the end, I must sadly concede and admit that this is a terrible product and should be avoided at all costs. Hopefully, Amazon will allow me to exchange this for a different model and manufacturer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Personalized, easy to use.
I had this phone for more than a week and explored almost all of its features except for voice command and text messaging. I think it is a good phone to have. Very personalized and simple to use once you are familiar with the features. I guess a lot of people are more interested in knowing the bad things before getting into the good ones. So I will start with the Cons.

Cons

•Poor alarm setting options. Although it has recurring alarms, T610 only allows you to set one alarm. If you want an alarm to go off at 7:20 and another one at 7:45, you will not be able to do that with T610. Go for Samsung phones if you need more alarm options.
•There's no key you can press that will bring you back to the default starting screen. When you finished adding contacts and you want to go back to the default starting screen, you will have to constantly press the "back" key and go one level at a time. I found that very annoying.
•Entering contacts information takes some time because the engineers designed some unnecessary steps in adding/modifying contacts. For example, when the "Home Phone" field is highlighted, you can not key in the number right away. You'll still have to click the "Add" key to bring up the next screen for entering information.
•Small number display. They could have made the numbers bigger when you are dialing or receiving a call. The numbers are hard to see when you are using your phone outdoors during day time.

Pros

•Good sound quality. I'm not talking about reception here. With full signal strength, T610 gives you a smoother and milder voice than my old Nokia 3560, which makes you feel like you are talking to a robot.
•Good display resolution.
•Nice personal settings such as wallpapers, themes and screensavers.
•Easy file transfer using Bluetooth or Infrared. I use my computers to download free ring tones, themes and pictures from the internet (www.myt610.net) and then use Infrared to transfer them to my T610. I was surprised to find how easy it is. Once the Infrared port is enabled in BIOS, the computer will automatically detect T610 within a certain range and pops up the file transfer dialogue window and you can start transferring. If you use T610 to download files from the Internet directly, you will have to pay $4.99 per month. (You might need to get some support for your computer for "enabling Infrared" if the Infrared port is not enabled by default.)
•Good "Shortcut" features.
•Good call management solutions. Call lists are integrated. You can view dialed numbers, received calls and missed calls all in one screen. The phone uses arrows in different shapes and colors to help you distinguish if it is a missed call or a received call. The highlighted number will toggle between phone number and call time automatically and save you several clicks.
•Easy to grab. I have dropped my Nokia 3560 numerous times. But the surface material and the inward-curving side panels of T610 makes it easy to grab.

By the way, T-Mobile has good signal performance in St Louis area.

1-0 out of 5 stars Far from the perfect phone, OR the perfect service.
Six months ago I bought 5 of these phones and took out a family plan for which I am paying $100+/month. In my family we have found the T610 to be less than an ideal cell phone. The most serious problem is its poor reception. Put this phone side-by-side with a Nokia and the Nokia will pull in a signal when the T610 will not. The color screen is nice, until you try and use it in sunlight - simply put, you can't! The screen appears totally black in sunlight and is completely unusable. I'll stop complaining about the phone right here, because those are the two big issues.

T-Mobile's coverage is patchy at best. Even in a region with "excellent coverage" like mine, there are a significant number of pockets with low or no reception. Sadly, one of those pockets just happens to be my home. We have three phones here and can't use them. I rang T-Mobile and told them this. They assured me they would investigate and contact me again within 36 hours - they didn't. One week later I got a postcard in the mail telling me how great the reception in my area was... just in case I thought otherwise. I have complained about this but I don't expect a positive outcome.

The T-Mobile plans are also troublesome. They give you a WAP-enabled (web browsing) phone, they tell you that your plan has WAP access, then they don't allow you to use WAP. The only site you can access is the T-Mobile site telling you to pay more money for WAP access. This has upset a lot of customers but T-Mobile's attitude has been "OK, then sue us!". Some customers are doing just that.

So the bottom line is that there are better cell phones out there, and T-Mobile as a service has issues that need to be weighed in any buying decision. My advice is to be very careful before jumping on this, or indeed any other cell phone deal. Ask you friends and colleagues how happy they are with their cell phone plans. ... Read more

There are also a bunch of other great features with this phone, including a digital CIF camera and video recorder, Bluetooth infrared data transfer, voice dialing, mobile Internet connectivity, high-speed data transmission, and more.

Used simply as a phone, the 6820 features a 4-way joystick for easy navigation to a variety of calling features, including voice dialing for up to 10 numbers, voice commands for up to 9 items, integrated handsfree speakerphone, and the ability to record and send memos, conversations, and sound clips (up to 90 seconds). The phone's snappy new design makes it ideal for messaging; you can actually type on the QWERTY keyboard, no more hunting and pecking through the ten key system. In addition to text and picture messaging, you can also send up to four linked messages with up to 160 characters each, and take advantage of distribution lists and predictive text input. The 6820's XHTML browser provides high-speed data transmission via GPRS or EDGE, and access to work and private POP3 and IMAP4 email accounts. You can also send MMS (multimedia messaging service) packets containing combined image, video, text, and voice clips to compatible phones or PCs. To expand your phone's functionality, you can download additional Java applications to add to the ones already included with the phone: E-mail Client, Instant Messaging, Converter, World Clock, and Portfolio Manager, among others.

Organizer

The Nokia 6820's organizer features include a 3,000 character notepad function (now easy to use with the flip out keyboard), as well as the usual phone book with up to 500 contacts, a full calendar, and a to-do list with priority levels, among others. You can also sync up your organizer data with your PC wirelessly via your Bluetooth connection, using the included software (Sync ML or Nokia PC).

Cameras, Fun, and Games

An integrated CIF digital camera lets you take 352 x 288 pixel photos, which you can view on the phone's 4,096 color display, or send to your computer or via MMS to a friend, using the XHTML internet connection. The camera provides night shooting mode, a self-timer feature, and a video clip recorder. Additionally, you can add thumbnail-sized photo images to contacts in your phone book, change your graphical user interface with a variety of themes, and download new ring tones to add to the onesalready included with the phone. 5-0 out of 5 stars Why Blackberry when you can Nokia 6820?
This phone can do it all! You can check your home, corporate, & M-mode e-mail. The bluetooth connectivity is incredible. The camera isn't exactly a megapixel, but who cares? This is a cell phone. Wireless internet is truly high speed if you have EDGE capability. It isn't as fast as DSL, but it certainly beats dialup.

The best feature is the full qwerty keyboard. It takes a little time to get used to, but after a few minutes you will wonder how you got along without it. It is so easy to check and reply to e-mail messages that it almost makes the Blackberry obsolete. The only thing that a Blackberry has is the push e-mail. If you don't need the message immediately go with this phone. It certainly puts all others to shame. Nokia certainly put some time and effort into this phone. All I can say is that they did it all right.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything I Need
This phone, an upgrade from my Nokia 6800, has everything the 6800 was lacking: Bluetooth, better web browser, smarter interface, and a camera. The key difference between the 6800 and the 6820 is that the 6800 has an FM radio where the 6820 has the camera. Also, the 6820 is smaller & lighter than the 6800. My favorite feature is still the full QWERTY keyboard; I'll never go back to the old triple-tap keys for text again.

This phone is the perfect bridge between a regular mobile phone, and a PDA/PDA phone. Helpful "get organized" features consist of a calendar, note pad, voice recorder, alarm clock, wallet, and to-do list. You have great flexibility in choosing which features to assign to a quick "go to" button, and the items can include features, profiles, and even web site addresses.

Overall, I am 100% satisfied with this phone and feel that it is well worth the price. If you are a PC user, you can use the Nokia PC suite application to sync your computer & phone. If you are a Mac user (like me), the 6820 is not yet supported by iSync. However, you can transmit files via Bluetooth and can send Address Book cards to the phone, also via Bluetooth.

1-0 out of 5 stars NO AT&T
AT&T has the worst customer service ever. Do not buy from them you will regret it. The phone is good but at&t is horrible. Expect unwanted charges on your bill.

1-0 out of 5 stars would love to have it but Amazon has become a mess and...
can't deliver the goods. After ordering, I received a notice from Amazon that I had to call AT&T to complete the credit process. When I called the number provided, AT&T told me that they had no record of the order and gave me Amazon's number - her supervisor had informed her that she was not to waste any time on Amazon customers. So after spending a considerable amount of time trying to work with Amazon people, I'm now told that they are standing by their original message. WHAT A BUNCH OF IDI0TS! how do they run a biz like this? It would have been nice if they could actually fullfil the order...

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon is great.. phone is great, just say away from AT&T

Sporting a large, 4,096-color display screen and an unconventional, rotary-style keypad, we found the sturdy, feature-rich Nokia 3650 cell phone one of the best designed phones on the market, with excellent ease-of-use, crystal-clear reception, and a camera, video camera, and Internet access.

In our tests, we found that the comfortable rounded base of this 5-inch phone rested easily our palm, and the clever retro button display took only a moment of getting used to. The buttons and disc navigation felt quite durable, with a nice, solid action. Menu navigation involves two thin buttons on the top left and right that allowed us to move in and out of menus; then the standard 4-point clickable disc provided more detailed selection. There's a separate button for the main menu prominently below the disc, and the faux-rotary layout of the number buttons helped keep the navigation buttons out of the way during dialing. The requisite call and hang-up buttons are intuitively marked, and a futuristic-looking blue light shines through the numbers on all the buttons for easy keying in low-light areas.

The 3560 delivered consistent, excellent reception in a variety of testing environments, including a basement-level room that typically causes trouble with similar phones. The default ring tones were a bit too gentle for their own good; they were hard to hear in busy outdoor environments. The tones that we created using the composing feature, however, were quite audible, even in the midst of lots of noise. The vibrate alert was also quite effective and hard to miss. Nokia has also preloaded a variety of other polyphonic ring tones for alternate use, as well as a voice-dialing feature, which stores 25 numbers and was easy to use.

Thanks to high-speed GPRS connection, users can access a variety of Web content, such as news, travel information, and entertainment specifically designed for mobile phones via an XHTML browser, which supports pages written in both HTML and WML (Wireless Markup Language). The 3650's calendar, phone book, and to-do list can all be synchronized with a PC using Nokia 3650 PC Suite software. This phone also supports Java for downloading business applications, and built-in Bluetooth and infrared connections empower users to send photos and text in either e-mail or MMS format to a PC or to another compatible wireless device. Some of the downloadable Java and Symbian applications provided by Nokia through their website include Merriam-Webster Word Search, and games like Racing Fever, Avant Go, and Terminator.

The phone's digital VGA camera is cleverly built in to the back of phone, and can store up to 1,000 photos at 640 x 480 megapixel resolution on its (upgradeable) 16 MB memory card. Also, the Nokia 3650's photo capability is immediately accessible from the top-level display menu, so unlike other phones it was easy to snap a photo at a moment's notice. The camera records images in standard, portrait, and a nighttime mode.

With the same basic set of controls, RealOne software lets the video recording function capture short, low-fidelity sound and video clips for immediate MP4 video playback on the generous screen or for sending to another Web-enabled user. The 15-frames-per-second video recording rate delivers stuttering, delayed images that look sort of like Neil Armstrong's transmissions from the Moon. We found this all very entertaining, and potentially useful for transmitting small bits of information, but hard to take seriously as a true video recording device.

Among the scores of additional features on this phone are text messaging templates, where you create a basic message (like "Let's eat at --- ") then fill in the blank as you wish; a foreign currency and units converter for the jet set crowd, and a "favorites" folder to store Web shortcuts and links. For hearing-impaired customers, Nokia even provides TTY/TDD (Telecommunication Device for the Deaf) compatibility. The headset included with this phone is functional, and Li-Ion battery comes rated for up to 4 hours of digital talk and 200 hours of digital standby time. The phone comes with a refreshingly well-written manual. While decorative faceplates and other accessories are available, we found that even without them, the Nokia 3650 is one of the most coolest phones we've ever laid our hands on. --Erik Hammen

Pros:

    Pros:

    • Great reception
    • Excellent, intuitive user interface
    • Feature-rich
    • Solid build and large display screen
    • Fun camera and video features

    Cons:

    • Large phone size to accommodate large display screen
    • Default ring tones a bit quiet.

How We Tested Battery Talk/Standby Time

When reading our reviews, you should view the test results of mobile-phonebattery talk time and standby time as relative information only. Many variables, including carrier signal strength at your location, signal consistency(including incoming and outgoing calls), display and ringer settings, andbattery charging methods and history, will affect performance. When handsetmanufacturers and mobile phone carriers list talk-time and standby-time ratings, they usually include disclaimers about variable performance and often refer tothe times they publish as maximum times. Some quote expected battery liferanges, and in this case you're probably safe to assume you'll experience atleast the minimum rated range. Note that manufacturers of dual-mode digital andanalog handsets publish battery-life rates for both digital and analog modes, asanalog mode consumes much more power than digital mode.

Our Tests: We tested digital-mode talk and standby times with each phone.Prior to each test, we fully charged the phone's battery according to themanufacturer's directions. To test digital-phone talk time, we turned the phoneon, established a digital carrier signal, dialed a number in our test lab, and, when the call rang through, took the receiving phone's handset off the hook. When all went well, we didn't do anything else except record the time when thephone died. In a couple of cases, the phones lost the signal and dropped thecalls. If we were right there and could redial, we did so immediately andcontinued running the test. Otherwise, we halted the test, recharged thebattery, and started the test over. Assuming consistent carrier-signal strength, this test should represent best-case talk time. And it's worth noting thatseveral phones' talk-time performance significantly exceeded the manufacturers'ratings.

To test digital-phone standby time, we turned the phone on, established acarrier signal, and left the phone in standby mode. We checked the phone everyfew hours (for what was often days on end) until the phone finally cut out.Since no outgoing or incoming calls occurred during testing and because thephone was not moved, this method should represent best-case standby time, againassuming consistent carrier signal strength.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone and more,
    The PROs
    - amazingly useful device that is far more than a phone
    - the PDA features such as contacts, calendar, note pad,
    calculator all work well.
    - Great User Interface designed to work with one hand
    - The camera is useful and fun. If you attach a photo to a contact,
then a thumbnail of the photo will appear when that person
calls, useful if you are in a meeting or driving an want to see
    who is calling.
    - PC Suite does good job of synchronizing. I have my laptop,
Jornada PDA, and 3650 all use the same set of contacts,
    calendar, and tasks.
    - 3Com BlueTooth adapter on laptop connects easily to the 3650,
and moves the large files rapidly.
    - Battery life is better than I expected, given the large
    color screen.
    - The large screen allows for a lot of information and function.
Great for browseing mMode (on AT&T).

    The CONs
The version of PC Suite which comes with the phone has problems connecting to many BlueTooth adapters.
The solution is to download the latest (Version 3.0 18-Nov-2003) from the Nokia site.
Once I did this, and installed the 3Com Bluetooth USB adapter (download latest drivers from 3COM),

    everything worked perfectly.

In summary, the 3650 is a great phone, and so much more.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice Phone - except for Mmode button on face
The phone has been a good performer. It took a bit to get used to the round keypad design. The camera is functional but not better than my cheap Intel Pocket PC Digital Camera I purchased in 2000. The infrared interface makes tranferring photos a breeze.

The real nightmare is the Mmode button on the face that also acts as your BACK button. I have been accidentally accumulating charges under $5 per month from the button being pushed when the phone is in the case. I had decided that the Mmode feature was clunky and not viable in the first week of getting the phone. I found out from ATT Wireless that this "feature" cannot be disabled. Therefore, my phione would continue to make connections on its own and I would be billed for them. Unacceptable. The Mmode connection should be buried in the menu like all other options.

I ended up removing the right BACK / Mmode button so that connection was impossible. I have contacted Nokia via email requesting the connection settings within the PC Suite for Nokia 3650 to inhibit the Mmode connection through failure to find the appropriate server or service.

4-0 out of 5 stars a bulky one with gr8 features
i have bought from ATT n i dont think we can send ringtones. n the other issue is that copyin the contacts to sim card. needs to be done one by one. if a contact has multiple nbrs, then each one shud be handled explicitly. i donno if it really had better options to do that. if so, plz ignore this. as u all know, it is bulky. except for these, this is a gr8 phone. i love it.

3-0 out of 5 stars The phone was overall good.
The phone was awesome most of the time. There was a few issues with the screen freezing and without an extra memory card it could only hold about 40 pictures. Another problem was the volume is awfull real queit and hard to hear along with the phones ringing volume even at the top volume it is hard to hear. But the phone has cool features and a great screen size. The internet is quick and real helpfull on it. And i never had an issue with reception. T-mobile has great plans at great rates!! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars So close....
The T616 is a pretty good phone...sleek design, good phone functions, fun to have a camera included. But it has some limitations and questionable function choices. I would buy it again.

Likes:

Call quality fine.

Outlook sync works well.

Caller ID brings up picture of caller (once you assign a pic to the Contact's record in the phone book).

Nice design.

Can store lots of info about each contact.

Voice command dialing (in concept, haven't played with it enough to know if it works).

Dislikes:

Poor documentation for setting up bluetooth sync: I know computers pretty well, and although this was my first bluetooth device, it should have gone more smoothly. Too many gaps in documentation. Worse, AT&Ts website provides no help, the OEM for the sync software (Extended Systems) refers you to Sony Ericsson for help, and the Sony Ericsson help desk in Toronto was counterproductive. Their suggestion was to sync one record at a time! And they were rude when I suggested there was probably a way to sync all records at once.

Screen is very hard to read outdoors. This is probably the biggest flaw, and one which may be beyond the tolerance of many people...

2mb of memory is not enough. You can store a fair number of contacts (500-ish) but not enough pictures, even after deleting all the nonsense pics/sounds/themes they include with the phone.

The web browser function is ok on the sites formatted for the cell phone's screen.

The "Find Top Ten Best Near Me" function is hysterical. This will find the Top Ten, say, mexican restaurants near you, based on the position of the nearest cell tower, which is probably within a half mile or less. I was in Plano, TX and had it find the Top 10 mexican restaurants nearest me...there are probably 30 within 10 miles, but the closest it came up with was 15 miles away in downtown Dallas...even funnier, it was The Mansion at Turle Creek! The Mansion is easily the costliest restaurant in Dallas; it is famous for having invented "Southwest Cuisine" but it is as far from being a mexican restaurant as, say, Spago's is from being a NJ pizzaria.

Voice command - To be fair, I first programmed my voice commands in a noisy hospital waiting room. Since then, it hasn't recognized any voice command I've entered...so I need to reprogram it and try again.

Overall: [Excellent] phone with good features...and a bad screen for outdoors use.

2-0 out of 5 stars Bluetooth is great, pretty, other than that... not much
This was my first non-Nokia phone, and I too returned it at the end of the 30 day AT&T no-questions asked return period. I've had AT&T for years, though this was my first digital. I've always had great customer service from them ....

T616 Positives:
- Beautiful looking, small, lightweight.

- Display has great color graphics and themes.

- Bluetooth synching my contacts via isync on my mac was fantastic. See below for limitations though.

- Bluetooth for internet access: My friend uses his to access the internet via his Powerbook. When I saw that was when I wanted to buy this phone! But he has Sprint with unlimited data. AT&T doesn't offer an unlimited data plan. I imagine with AT&T internet access could get pricey.

- Fun taking my friends photos (yes, grainy, but fine for a phone) and and assigning them to their contact info so that their photo would turn up when they called.

- Good loud rings, sounds great though the first ring is softer.

- AT&T customer service and return policy.

However, other than that, this phone was pretty limited:

- It took quite a bit of manipulation to get my mac's address book fields matching (several syncs to see what went where and reorganizing the contacts on my computer that were going into the phone) and it does not store addresses. Limited length on what you can save in the Calendar or transfer from iCal. Not a PDA replacement by any means.

-The keys are so small (and this phone was the same dimensions as my last phone) I was constantly hitting the wrong ones. Forget texting or trying to enter an appointment.

- Display: Tiny display fonts very hard to read. Agree with other reviewers too that its unreadable in daylight.

- Slow response time. I like that you can press the joystick to select (rather than having to use a different key like you do on Nokias), to search for a name in a big contact list is slow... it hestiates between each step.

- You have to have it positioned exactly right on your ear to hear what the other person is saying, so each call is this moving around the phone to get it just right. Once you do that though, the sound quality is crystal... but what good is that if you aren't getting your calls or can't make them?

- Battery life. I am a very light user and had to charge it every other day at least. Other phones I've had could go many more days.

- I couldn't get the phone to send pictures to anyone. Friend on Sprint couldn't get his photos to send to me either. Couldn't figure out how to bluetooth them into my computer but didn't try too hard.

- Navigation system is counter-intuitive, though I was using this phone for 28 days and read the manual. To lock the keys if the phone has to go to sleep requires pressing a key to wake it up, then clearing what you've pressed, then pressing two more keys. Everything took more steps than my previous phones, and in the end the annoyance was too great.

- Reception was awful compared to all my previous phones. Sitting side by side with someone also on AT&T digital, their phone (Nokia 6800) got two bars and mine was red with no service. This was in LA, NY and Boston metro areas. Sometimes it would tell me I had service but then suddenly I would get three calls that had gone to voicemail, some of them from hours earlier. Never had this happen before on other phones.

....

5-0 out of 5 stars Small but Feature Packed
This is a good phone, not the greatest I've ever had but the service is good in Oklahoma and Texas. I've only had problems becasue I dropped the phone one too many times beyond that its a great phone. The camera on the phone does exactly what it needs to its a camera phone not a digital camera. The bluetooth in it is great with Macs and Pocket PC's enabled with bluetooth. The phones features can not be beat.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good one
As far as i now this is one of the best phone from sony ericsson. Its compact and very easy to use.

Pros: It has a good battery life, I charge my Phone once in two days. You could talk for 10 hours max. The Menu is the best i have used so far and has a lot of cool feautures . The joystick navigator heps you navigate without seeing the screen. It has almost all the feautures you would want in a phone. The voice control is amazing as it could recognize all my commands but beware it sucks the battery to death in a few hours. It has got some cool themes. It also charges pretty quickly. The reception is clear on plain open grounds but looses power in buildings.

Cons; The camera is a big joke. As it is with all high resolution colour display ,its very difficult to view in sunlight. The internet Mmode button is placed in a wrong postion that triggers the net now and then, unless you lock the keyboard. The ring tones are pathetic, I could find only one that i could hear.It has an old phone ring tone which is kinda cool. You could download new tones and wallpapers in a jiffy. The reception is not that powerful. The browser is kinda diificult to get started with.

The bottomline : Buy it , its a good deal , but choose a good carrier. If i have to buy another phone , i would buy T616 again
but not with AT&T.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great phone except for PC connectivity
I bought this phone for my wife (she wanted something small and cute) - she loves the phone and size. I decided to get a Nokia 6820 for PC syncing (with Outlook) capabilities.

Pros:
+ size
+ bright, crisp screen
+ bluetooth
+ camera is not bad

Cons:
+ Contact manager does NOT have addresses
+ phone ringer too low
+ syncing with PC using Sony Ericsson's software is a tough process - its a mess trying to make the phone be recognized by the software (at least for me it was and I a software engineer working in the IT field for over 7 years) ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon is great.. phone is great, just say away from AT&T
WARNING: AT&T representatives ("Dawn: R361" and "Max: N360") themselves said during my troubleshooting (as detailed below) that I should NOT have bought through Amazon, and that they have received a barrage of complaints from Amazon buyers! I still really like Amazon, but they're integration with AT&T is non existent. People should not have to wait 2-3 days for service after they receive the phone. Buy the same phone on Amazon, but a different carrier.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nothing special
In my opinion the phone sucks. The camera is pretty decent quality not the best i might add, the menus are annoying and make every action you try and perform a prolonged task, and the voice dialing is non existant. The video recorder is definatly not worth the space on the phone because it is a puny 10 seconds long and has incredibly bad graphics to the point the thing your video taping is non recognizable. The signal is ok in most places with the gsm from at&t (for once) but everything else isn't worth the money. the only time this phone is worth it is from a one day sale off the at&t website.......hoped this help! ...

Take and share pictures with the 3650.

In Calendar, you can keep track of your appointments, meetings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other events. You can also set a calendar alarm to remind you of upcoming events.

With the video recorder you can record video clips, and play video clips stored on your phone or on a memory card. Also, the video recorder is integrated with the messaging features allowing you to easily send created clips.

Nokia 3650 provides various functions, in an-easy-to use interface, such as Camera, Video recorder, Messaging, e-mail, Clock, alarm clock, Calculator, and Calendar.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best FREE Phone-Entertainment-Internet-Business device!
This phone can be used as a phone, digital camera, voice recorder, digital video recorder, full screen movie viewer, file storage solution, document viewer, travel info companion, foreign language translator, internet access, actual MP3 Music with voice instead of polyphonic ringtones. All of the above is expandable with the MMC cards (my 128MB MMC card holds several video clips, 2-hour movie, music files, my documents & presentations, photos and everything else). All features are easily accessible via menu button & j-stick. Also this phone is equipped with InfraRed and Bluetooth for wireless transfer of data between other devices. Nokia 3650 is based on Symbian Operating System, so there are plenty 3rd party software available for it - anything you could think of.

This phone is not for writing memos! I own this phone for about a year, and I never type on it - there is no need. I hardly ever use the keypad.

99% of people complaining about this phone actually complain about Amazon rebates, bad signal reception by their providers or they don't like the looks of the phone. All of this has nothing to do with the Nokia 3650 phone and it's functionality they are getting for FREE.

There are no other FREE phones that offer the same features!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent phone - not as big as it looks like
I simply love this phone. If there is a signal problem its just due to the service provider. got nothing to do with the phone.

Best features I found so far:
******************************
1. Clicked away photos which were very good web/email quality. (can't print them but who cares). I always got a still+movie camera in my pocket now.. the best feature so far i liked. The movie quality is thumbnail size so not useful.
Caution: Don't take spy pics

2. The phone has around 4 MB of memory + 16MB of flash card + 380KB on SIM card. Thats pretty good memory.

3. Voice recorder is great if you don't have a pen/paper around to write messages while on a call...Just record the conversations for upto a minute.

4. I could attach thumbnails to to my friends' names in the address book so whenever we talked, their face came on the screen.

5. Calender, alarm (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) and scheduler functions are very userful.

6. Messaging to all over the world is great as most of the world uses GSM technology. I could send pics and chat with family/friends across the globe. This is tri-band phone so will work everywhere in the world.

7. Ringtone volume is very low BUT ONLY in the normal mode. All you got to do is to choose the OUTDOOR profile and the ringtone volume will be sufficiently loud + vibrator mode will be on.

8. Very lightweight, handy and not as big as it looks like in pics.

Features I did not like:
************************
1. Round key pad is quite annoying while typing messages so even my mom can type SMS messages faster on her rectangular keypad than me.

2. Worst thing is that it doesn't have a data cable so unless you have a laptop with an IR port or a bluetooth card, you can't connect it to the PC.

3. Phone material feels cheap and finish is not that good. Don't drop it unless you want scratches and paint marks.

4. Don't believe when they say GPRS is superfast. It is NOT. It is an old 2.5G technology and it doesn't compare with the really high speed sprint PCS CDMA-2000 3G technology. GPRS is only good for viewing text based pages with zero graphics and they take their own sweet time to load. You may feel nostalgic about the old 14.4Kbps modem days in 1998. I got this phone after using sprint for a year but I feel the PCS vision internet is great and you can connect it to your laptop/home PC and get broadband internet (144kbps) for free !! Sprint doesn't encourage it for obvious reasons and you may have to download the dialer software from unreliable sources (like kazaa) but my roommate uses it and it works !! ....
